    4 major portion/segment:
    1. Vinnyana - consciousness 6 vinnyanas(eye, ear, tongue, nose, mind ,body)
    2. Sanya - perception - job is to recognise and evaluation
    3. Vedhana - sensation
    4. Sankara - job is to react, this gives fruit, this is the volition of the mind
    3 types of Sankara
    - like line drawn on water
    - like line drawn on sand on beach
    - like line drawn on rock, deep line

    Cognise, recognise, polarise, materialise. This is my take on this from my ten day retreat. Something that has popped into my mind since that is, I wonder if this is the minds reflection of the 4 fundamental forces. Weak force, strong force, electromagnetic force and gravity. The mind is matter and matter is the mind. Could a mind as clear as sidharta's have recognised the four fundamental forces of the physical world? There are definitely parallels to be drawn from the deeper descriptions of these fundamental forces and my own experience of these 4 parts of the mind in my time doing vipassana. Food for thought 🤔

    Is it important to know how many parts of mind, it's level, etc. are these not lead to more & more confusion? why we are not accept the fact ? why we do not live with actuality? whether truth is also so confused? is it not simple, easy, natural?

    • @mathivananmathi6982
      @mathivananmathi6982 5 років тому +3

      The internation is not to teach the various parts of the mind. The essence is to teach not to have deep craving or aversion. The meditation programme not only teaches the theory but also gives practical training. Try it sometimes you will come out of the confusion. Be blessed. Be Happy.

      My sense is that this and other explanations in this spirit in the evening discourses by Goenka were foundational complements to the practice that we did during the course. It draws you a map to understand what you’ve been grappling with while meditating. Marvelous.

    The 4th part of the mind is the part which reacts. Is it not also the part which can be equanimous and not react, but simply observe?

    • @johnbishop9000
      @johnbishop9000 2 роки тому +2

      Mr. S. N. Goenka: It is the mind that reforms itself. A part of the mind is always observing its own functioning. If there are thoughts in the mind, it will analyse the nature of these thoughts. Whenever negativity or a feeling of animosity arises in the mind, this same part instantly issues a warning that such negative emotions are undesirable and should not occur in the mind. This part may be called intellect or the part of the mind which is always alert regarding the functioning of the mind and is trying to reform it. If the mind can develop the habit of observing the truth as it appears, then this fact will become clear- that the moment the mind is defiled, it is punished with suffering; and if it is purified, the suffering is removed. It is this observing part of the mind which will understand this process and thus change itself. Nobody wants to remain agitated. Everyone wants to lead a happy life without miseries. To attain this state, the observing part of the mind tries to change the nature of the remaining part of the mind.

      MIND IS SAME TO ALL THE RELIGION... NOT THAT BUDDIEST HAVE A DIFFERENT TYPES OF MIND
      HE SAID MIND HAS 4 PARTS AND DESCRIBED THAT...
      BUT HE JUST DESCRIBED CHITTA PART.. ALL THOUGH THAT NOT FULLY CURRECT WHAT HE SAID..
      SO THE GENERAL PEOPLE WHO WATCH HIS VIDEO HAS A MIS PERCEPTION, THAT WHY I SAID THAT

      @@chatterjeesamanwaya7598 Mind is same to all, but explanation is different. I can also say that you are giving false explanation of the mind but what sense does it make? Better to get yourself some info. He described 4 out of 5 aggregates or "Skandha", the first one is rupa.
