Why can’t Trump be fired under a ‘vote of no confidence’ in parliament like in Australia and other countries? Why is this man allowed to continue his despotic reign? Is this not a ‘thing’ in American politics? Why is America allowing a person with dementia to run the free world? He needs to be in care..seriously.
Joe has some mild dementia, but trump has NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) which is a much worse situation. Read the list of traits. You'll see him there.
I think the US does have something similar to a vote of no confidence but it requires two thirds of the senate or congress (or both?) and seeing as both houses are usually split down the middle politically the only way to get a two thirds majority would be for all democrats and a third of republicans to vote the same way and politicians rarely vote against their own party so you would be lucky if you got 55% of support let alone the 66% needed.
Meow the 25th constitutional amendment can be invoked by vice prez maybe others? To depose of an unfit president but it hasn't been! Because the public isnt clamoring for it! People figure trump will be outvoted later this year! Good luck when u know the election will be rigged!

Hero is an overstatement. We shouldn't be putting people at a hero status for doing the least their country is asking for. Save that word for people like the Nat'l Guard and First Responders.
What about the millions of people that are picking our food ?
What does he mean “ staying at home leads to death”? Is he implying that if you’re home you’re going to commit suicide? Poverty sucks and millions of people live in poverty but it doesn’t make you spontaneously die.
yes, pee-flake is suggesting the well known die at home by aging, eating too much and not exercising.
this is the problem with media junkets and sound bites - he was referring to the mental health issues (depression, anxiety, drug abuse, maybe even suicide if it gets to that point). There have been multiple professionals/researchers in psychology/mental health that have clearly stated that although we may be saving life right now we are definitely going to see longer lasting implications from this lock down due to economic breakdown and mental health issues. Not to mention domestic abuse hotlines skyrocketed with problems - women and children. As well as students who are basically having there whole world turned upside down. Its sad to think about what our upcoming graduates will have to go through to even land a job when this is all over.. I'd say a whole generation of young adults will suffer years from this lockdown
maybe he is talking about all the victims of domestic violence?? But then I doubt it!!

I laughed way too hard at the Thanos bit.
@Bob Smith Nah the Thanos bit was definitely funny. You just don't get it b'cos you're a snowflake.
@Bob Smith Mockery, satire, and the thing all comedy is based upon: tragedy. How do you not appreciate dark humor or gallows humor, political or not? It's the funniest thing out there.
@@thetruth4116 Or satire isn't his forte. I get how constantly ragging on someone can get old and that politically-oriented commentary is polarizing, but you've got to appreciate dark humor, right? It's the most delicious thing out there! Maybe, being liberal-minded allows for that, but all comedy's based on tragedy, and what Colbert's done his whole career is mock ridiculousness how rational people feel about it-- contempt.
I can see how that might fight like an attack. Suppose I'd feel differently if someone as smart and funny and charming and blunt as Colbert was mocking a prominent Democrat every day I'd find it distasteful, but if it shed some insight and mocked legitimate foibles or offered an alternative view and made me a little smarter, I think I'd find it not only funny, but useful.
When Chevy did it to Ford, it was funny. When Murphy did it to Brown and Mr. Rogers, it was funny. When the Wayans did it to white folk, it was funny. When Foxworthy did it, it was funny. Tim Allen, Engval, Larry, White, funny, funny, funny, funny (Well, I guess they didn't really mock any specific liberals, though). When Carter was parodied, Clinton, 'bama, Clinton, Richardson, Gary Johnson, Gates, Ali-- Ali!-- I laughed.
It wasn't funny because I agreed politically, it was funny because it shed a light on something true or new or ridiculous.
Hmm... Are liberals the only ones who get away with parodying both conservatives and liberals? Having trouble coming up with a conservative who mocked liberal figures. Rich Little, maybe? Dennis Miller? Rosanne Barr? Norm MacDonald did it well. There's got to be more. Can you think of any?
I would rather have Thanos, the one from Infinity War not Endgame, instead of Baby Orange Sherbert President. I would rather have an undead Nixon in the White House with half his intelligence intact. An untested Beta version of an Artificial Intelligence program on a Macintosh computer would be preferable to a president, I didn't vote for so Satire-Mode is utterly justifiable, who just makes me feel unsettled and embarrassed every time he "speaks".
@@jamesbender4535 I keep trying to imagine how I could enjoy Colbert if I voted for Trump. I think it's possible, but I have a hard time seeing it. Done it for Ford, Clinton, Hillary-- Obama, even-- but having a HUGE problem finding the funny in the fun with this one, how it could be done, if I were them. I'm beginning to think it matters where it comes from more than who it's about or how good it is and maybe it's an advantageous bias of liberal thinking-- seeing things more pluralisticly/plasticly-- that populism just doesn't do well with criticism, but that seems too simplistic; conservatives enjoy satire when it's directed toward someone they're politically opposed to, like we do, so what gives? Threatened by how few their numbers are, so any "attack" jeopardizes their future influence? No; it's not that deep.
Blech. Didn't want to get into that; wanted to add how, though I agree with your thought, there's lots of advantages in having an inept, but admittedly dangerous, president, compared to things like A.I. or someone half-way powerful: they can't do as much real damage and can't convince people-- even their own-- of their veracity; basing credibility on humiliation and flattery, self-deception, avarice and fatalism -- even in exchange for socially conservative policy-- isn't sustainable or inspiring; eventually people just get fed up feeling that way and want to be genuine and free from conditions that make them feel small, especially when it's no longer advantageous to them and that person's left office (lucky for us, eh?, luck of democracy's design). Guess, what I'm saying is we're pretty lucky, no only for his ineptitude, but that he's so narrow-minded; a broader thinker with the same philosophy, like Thanos or Stalin, would really be something scary.
Maybe, ineptitude pairs best with socially conservative policy-- and that's what's flipping people out-- but, it seems conceivable something so ridiculous could still be appreciated without being personally offended, even if the subject's cherished; it's done to Jesus and God all the time (admittedly, with mixed results) and conservatives are able to laugh at that.
Begs the question: We know all comedy is based on tragedy, but is it always based on politics, too?
I'm missing something. Not just about conservative satirical appreciation, but with the Trump-Thanos thing. Oh, yeah. Ineptitude doesn't pair well with public safety or national security-- there, we're fucked like a paranoid guard dog with a meat bone, surrounded by its fellows.
How about we give the coronavirus $130,000 to keep quiet?
Haha.

@William Everhart really cant tell if sarcasm but i'll give it a shot. As it stands Covid-19 is currently killing minorities in America by about twice the rate as white people. many major cities where minorities make up 15-30% of the population are seeing them account for upwards of 70% of all total deaths in the cities. they are being devastated by the virus. minorities who, generally, didn't vote for trump. Since the white people are surviving, many to most being the people that voted for him, as well as trump supporters generally sweeping all of his mistakes under the rug, yes. trump supporters likely don't care about whom the virus is affecting or why america is being hit so hard. Which is, as Fauci has confirmed, is largely due to trump. he's so incapable of handling the situation as is he ignored at least 10 warnings, that he wants to just let it ride and not deal with it.
Fauci just vaugely insinuating that different leadership and shot calling, looking at you mr. president, would have lead to a better situation. hence why trump for fauci to be fired after the interview.
We aren't coming up with anything. it's all right there in writing. the numbers are there. infected, dead, most of them minorities, trump supporters calling it everyone else's fault but his, fauci shifts 1% of the blame on him and trump wants him fired. black and white. and even on camera. Trump is getting people killed every day because he's incompetent, and everyone that doesnt have their head up his ass knows it.
Ah .no .
@William Everhart you are clearly a trump supporter so all of this going on deaf ears and this will be my last reply because of it. yes, i do believe that any other president would have done better. as it was said, Trump was warned 10 times. spelled out HE WAS WARNED TEN TIME. HE WAS WARNED ONCE TEN TIMES OVER about coronavirus and did nothing. he reguarly gets in front of the camera claiming to answer questions but only does it to beg for attention. he talks about his rating and everything else. a reporter asked him about corona and he said they were a fear monger and a bad reporter. obama, bush, or even 90 year old Jimmy motherf*ckin' carter could have done this better and with more dignity and grace as well.
also there is no such thing as corrupt media. it's called biased media. media that twists information to serve their own purpose are biased media. information cannot be wrong or corrupted. only the people it comes from. and only people who believe in "corrupt" media are trumps supporters because only he and his supporters believe it exists. it isn't corrupt, it's biased.
and finally. i am not unemployed. I was fired from a non essential business and went and few a new job. I work making a little more money today than what i could have claimed from unemployment because i earn what i make and not live off of others. i take in all news sources and understand it as information and media. not "corrupt" and "non corrupt" because that's a fairy tale. I am an informed and self opinionated citizen. and as such that means i had the better sense to not vote for trump. nor will i in November. God save you sir if you believe he still deserves your vote. because he wouldn't get God's.
steffan hymer when you use the word “minority” you are unconsciously allowing others to put you down and be racist. I am Mexican- American. I am not “brown”. Could lead to deaths? It is already leading to death. People are dying every second, every minute. The Orange idiot cares only about himself, his rating!

And who allowed the spring break while other states were in lockdown for weeks?
A big round of applause for Dr Fauci. He has to battle the Coronavirus and Donald at the same time!
And so far, we're seeing him do both without protective gear!
FAUCI FOR PREZ!!
Fauci is only looking out for big pharma and the money to be made with a vaccine. How can Americans be so blind?
It's sad Trump is dumber than a mindless virus. On the plus side, the virus is less malicious.
@@ichijofestival2576 Fauci stands there and enables Trump spouting nonesense like all in Trump's Administration.

Stephen I could not get through this without you and Bill Maher....
To paraphrase Trump: "I'd rather have states make their own decisions...unless I disagree". Damn. Actual quote at 7:27.
And it's based on the Constitution. Unless he says otherwise based on his metrics...the ones in his head (actually points to his head)
U sound chinese
That's literally how it's set up to work? Are you a communist?
Its Trumps mobster thinking: "when I want your opinion, I'll give it to you."
@@raymondnoodels7775 No, are you? Trump said in his press conference “When somebody is the president of the United States, the authority is total,”. Not only is it Constitutionally false (3 branches with checks and balances, remember?), the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution delegates "police powers" to states to regulate behavior during public health crises. Those aren't the words of an American President. Those are the words of an authoritarian dictator. And if people don't see how meaningless it is for him to be for state's rights as long as they do what he wants, there's no hope for democracy in America.

Dr. Fauci has had several presidencies to get America ready for a pandemic and he failed.
he failed the US

This is the funniest and most awesome Late Show segment I've ever seen Colbert do.
"Staying at home leads to death also"... is he f@#$ing serious 😂😂😂
Well, maybe he is thinking that one could trip and fall and die, cut yourself and bleed to death, electrocute yourself, drown in a backyard pool...just saying. Stable genius is way ahead of us normal dumb Americans.
Thank you for making the past month more tolerable.
Trumps indecision of doing the most important thing is the same when he goes to order a big mac or triple big mac !
"The boy who ignored Wolf" lol😆
Took me a minute, I'll be honest
Thank you Stephen for bringing me joy in these difficult times.
I love “that’s my metrics.” He’s trying to explain his capability and intelligence, and he’s doing it using a grammatically incorrect sentence.
amanda, you are better ? how come you are still not there??
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."
Thanks, Stephen, for mentioning Rob.🥰
You are amazing Colbert love ❤️❤️ to you, your team and family from Australia
To add insult to incompetence. XD that phrases says "a lot about a lot."
‘Staying at home leads to death.’
Well I had to self isolate for 14 days with symptoms. Went back to work for a week and then under NHS guidance, had to self isolate again when my mother had symptoms. We’re all still here! Honestly, I think I’ll trust the virologists, immunologists, doctors on the frontline and anyone other than a man who cannot string a coherent sentence together
Rhys Garner I just made a video about coronavirus and how it’s affecting daily life in nyc. You should check it out and consider subscribing
Darryl Kemp no, it will not lead to anywhere near similar death tolls. But then, I’m an MD, not a retard like 45
@@UnsolicitedContext And yet you just asserted you know something you cannot possibly know. But sure, covid kills more then poverty. Wonder how many will get sick because of said poverty with a shut down economy? Your a rich MD though, what the fuck do you care or know about it right? Anything to look smart to your circle or "Friends". I worked with Doctors for many years and I learned one thing about them. Arrogant and entitled bunch, they believe they know it all. They know alot when it comes to being a doctor but not much else as that takes up most of your time doesn't it.
Better to leave your uninformed opinions out of the public eye. Especially when you state them as fact. That of course is my opinion and you remain free to make yourself look like a pompous fool if that's your thing.

Great, open the flood gates, deceitful lies to confuse Americans. The administration justifies it's fatal lies "for the good", they don't want to cause panic. However, without truth you have no law, without facts you have no resistance. What we heavens here in the US... NO TESTING KITS!!!! The 200,000-500,000 needs to be X 10. Game over America.
Truth Seeker We’re not there yet. They are draconian laws but keeping contact to a minimum is the best chance we have of preventing the spread. Only reason I potentially contracted it (wasn’t confirmed but the symptoms pointed to it, again according to NHS) was because I’d been around key workers. Had my office adopted stricter rules, it may have been prevented.
Edit - Also a key worker, and our call centre is a haven for disease at the best of times like all offices really.
I do miss the Caravan Dances, though. 🤣
Thank you, Stephen! 💙🇺🇸💙
This is what happens when a con man is actually called upon to lead a country in a crisis.
Your robot-version of Take Me Out to the Ballgame song 😂😂😂😂😂
Can we use the 25th Amendment now? Can we have somebody in office that understands Government or simple mathematics
The problem is you people don't know metrics. Trump has metrics. There in his head, just like everything else he believes...it's all in his head. Get it? It's all in his head!

Covid-19

Spanish flu, look it up
Not to mention 9/11
Col. Johann Rall, Who died in the battle of Trenton, with a note in his shirt pocket from a local spy warning him of the impending attack by Washington and his "Rebels"!
Philadelphia, Spanish flu.
“We’ll cheer 1, 1, 011, unless it rains!” I think Colbert really gets the nerd humor prize for this one!
I think it's actually supposed to be "1, 10, 11" which would be 1, 2, 3 in decimal (or standard) counting. As in One, Two, Three strikes your out.

We don’t need Dr. Fauci to see Trump’s mishandling of this pandemic. It’s just sad that he’s about to throw Dr. Fauci under the bus to save himself 😒🥴😷😵
Fauci was just as slow with his response to the virus if you do some research on his quotes.
It’s sad that Dr. Fauci is kowtowing. He had an opportunity to voice today what we all know..The Emperor has no clothes. It was disheartening to see him “clarify” his position. So obvious Trump reamed him out and Fauci put his position over patriotism.

Stephen, thank you for being so bluntly outspoken about Trumps negligence. In Australia we had the same health warnings as the US but we acted instead of saying it was just the flu or a Democrat conspiracy and we used the right testing kits instead of trying to reinvent the wheel...We have sadly lost 61 people.
