I lost my best friend to this virus. We had just graduated college, he was looking for work as a technical writer, he wrote brilliant fiction and cooked the best noodles in the world and loved doughnuts and now he's dead, and he died alone and afraid, and the grief has made me almost numb, and yet somehow that gddamn pen clip still had me shaking with rage. Vote tomorrow. Please. For the love of your friends and family and those you never thought you would lose until you did.
I'm voting for my 97 year old grandma who's not a citizen, but has been living in America for a long time now. She's in a care home and visits have been cut and limited due to Covid, and she and so many other senior citizens in these care homes are now feeling abandoned by their families. I went to see her a few months ago and we were only allowed to see and talk to each other through a window. She was fucking crying when the staff wheeled her out to the window, because she saw us, and we were the first family she had seen in months. Now the home she's in is limiting any family from coming in because they had a Covid outbreak and wants to limit the spread. My grandma and other seniors deserve better. Vote for Biden. Trump's denial of this pandemic has been nothing short of a disaster.
I was hoping it was going to be something like "And now use these pens to write down what's going on with the PTSD" or something... still not great, but much better than "Oh, you have PTSD? Take a pen"
@@remyllebeau77 What do you think is the next step in handling the pandemic? Regardless of who is elected, what do you think they should do to help citizens and ensure health/safety?
My dad is damn near drinking himself to death these days. He started crying in front of me last night and told me stories of the deaths he’s seen this week alone at his hospital. And this...monster....these monsters. Are passing around pens and smiling. I don’t even get how you can joke about this stuff anymore. I’m tired and broken and scared. I haven’t felt this bad my whole life.
My entire family is highly at risk for dying if they get it exept me and my dad. So me and my dad are sent out, like it's the fucking apocalypse and we're the least injured, to get food and shit. This is so dystopian and scary. I couldn't see my family for two weeks because one of my dad's coworkers who he had seen in person recently had tested positive, and his job only gave him an email like: "oh by the way... might wanna get tested bro :/" so we all had to quarantine. I don't know where I was going with this, maybe this was me just ranting, maybe this was me trying to say I understand you. But all I know is that life's shit and super dystopian rn.
As someone who is employed in Healthcare, I can tell you many people that work in hospitals feel that way. People talk about the rising cases and the risks but they don't know what it's like to be a Doctor that has to choose which patients get the dwindling ICU beds that are available to treat serious COVID cases. That experience will scar you...

The sad thing about Obama's speech about pandemic preparedness is that it would probably only convince Trump supporters that he had something to do with all of this...
This is true. I heard the same kind speech in a podcast in 2016, when discussed what could cause to a apocalypse scenario, and a pandemic by a flu it's was the most certainly.
its all they needed to go after bill gates , that he somehow "knew" about it, when in reality, most people who studied history know that new diseases always crop up and will always keep coming until one is so deadly it kills us all before we could try and fight it
Even if he hypothetically did know about it, he himself had a pandemic response team and a pandemic response plan to deal with it, which he left for Trump to put to use, but Trump ditched that anyway, so the responsibility is still Trump's!

Meanwhile my niece is now forced to stay with someone else (still in a light form of quarantine) while their kids who had already been in contact with their father that day are forced to stay at home with their father... their school which was only recently able to re-open after being declared covid-free got shut down again, and the two local stores where my niece and her fiancee do their groceries shut down even when they already had strict measures in place to previously be allowed to stay open. My elderly mother (who is nieces' grandmother) no longer able to get any visitors because oh, covid in the family... so we can't do her groceries anymore, can't help her keep her home clean, can't do shit if she slips and falls in the bathroom... because one fuckless fuckwith believes that it's just a hoax. Remember 1 month later when the media, Joe Biden, and all the Democrats blamed Trump for Covid for not issuing travel bans sooner? Remember when they selectively edited his speech where he condemned white supremacy and nazis just so they could call him a racist? He refuses to condemn the violent rioters and the only reason he wouldn't condemn them is he needs their support. What are they doing? Assaulting, stalking, and murdering Trump supporters. What are the Democrats doing about this? Not a thing. They are doing less than nothing, they are actively helping these violent rioters because the Democrats refuse to press charges when these violent rioters commit crimes, like felony rioting, felony assault, first degree murder, arson, assault, and breaking into stores and stealing goods. It is not Trump supporters doing this stuff, it is exclusively the Left, exclusively BLM and Antifa and other affailited groups, and it is the Democrats protecting them. If you want an end to these violent riots Trump is the only one who will end them. They will riot wether Biden wins or not, and Biden will do nothing to stop them. What would you have done differently then? For example, Europe is going through its second wave of cases and lockdowns right now and he ain't president there. European governments have been pretty consistent with mask mandates and lockdowns and yet their numbers are still going up. It defies logic for only ~4.6k dead in epicenter: 🇨🇳's 9th largest city w/a 11+mil population, and a level 4 bio-safety lab. Leaked vids show corpses on street, long queues at crematoriums, whistleblowers were silenced: dead/disappeared. But sure _we_ have 40% of global cases, we have more cases and deaths than the epicenter, a country of _1.4 billion_ lol ok, if you believe that, then I have a bridge to sell.

"I think he's probably doing the best that he can right now. I mean there's so much mixed information out there... and trying to decipher what's fact, and what's fiction." Trump is the primary source of misinformation about the pandemic in the United States. It's like saying a firefighter is doing the best he can to fight a fire when he intentionally replaced water with gasoline.
And also as the PRESIDENT with advisors and staff, HE'S not the one getting the mixed information. It's people who don't know how to fact check social media or tabloids that are. Just because you're confused as a civilian about a subject you know nothing about doesn't mean the president should be too.

Sure, there is a lot of mixed information, and it sometimes can be hard for us common people to know what's true or not. But Trump is the president of the US. He has access to resources and experts no one in world does. But he willfully ignores science and straight up undermines his own experts.
@JP Provins, did he disseminate any harmful information? I cannot recollect any such info. Maybe Hydroxycloroquine wasn't effective, but he took it himself. I don't think that's strange, because it feels, and very likely is, real. There are so many shows with hosts who act angry (lookin at you, any opinion show on Fox), but there is no weight behind it, no true conviction. Half the time I see shows like that, I always wonder if they even believe any of it, or if it's just because of the check and it's easy. When John speaks on the show though, I have zero problems believing the emotion. So, he's either the best actor/host ever, or he's being 100% sincere, and I'm inclined to believe the latter.

Politicians here are paid by healthcare and big pharma. The worse the pandemic gets, the more patients need to visit the hospitals. The more patients in the hospitals, the more money hospitals, healthcare, and big pharma makes. Then politicians subsidize treatment with tax payer money. Healthcare, big pharma, and hospitals, can then give even more money to politicians. And if you or your friends and family can buy stocks for Hydroxychloroquine early, or Regeneron, and then peddle these "cures" to the public with your wide media coverage for extra profits on the side, well, that's just icing on the cake.
My parents, over the past year, are those people who endlessly defend trump and his handling of the pandemic, they get so angry at me for pointing out anything he's done that they don't like being brought up, and insist it's all somehow Obama (4 years ago), the democrats, and the media exaggerating it. It's honestly been such a shock to find out my parents are these kind of people, they were obama supporters years ago, but now they fight with me, with their friends, even strangers online about their conspiracies. Some days it's honestly hard to remember who they were and harder still to remember how to love them. covid may not have directly taken anyone I know from me, but sure has killed a lot of love.
Trump, like Ronald Regan, turned many normal Americans into far right conspiracy theorists. All he uses is anecdotal evidence and straw man arguments combined with his business brand prestige to win them over.
He is actively spreading his droplets along with his followers doing the same at his rallies of potential death, poor orange baby, he's doing the best he can

If you want my opinion. They say it specifically TO hurt people. Trump supporters (not Republicans as a whole to be fair) have no standards or morals. They purely exist as reactionaries.
@@WonderousSmiles certainly not all, for a lot of them it sadly comes down to unworthy trust in their respective choice of media, hear the same lie over and over for years and some start believing it and once they believe the Trump narrative it’s very hard to convince them otherwise since him and his supporting media regularly demonize other sources as biased and manipulative, ironic. I have a really good friend I’ve been trying to convince of this fact but it ultimately comes down to the fact that he won’t believe any of the data or stories from “biased liberal media” and despite acknowledging that Republican media is also biased he still believes their talking points with next to no evidence. It’s sad but with political and media polarization as bad as it is now some people just fall on the other side due to constant exposure and little fault of their own. Not everyone has the time or practice to identify the regular lies and fallacies used to justify Trump and the Republicans and all they have to do is remind them of the Failures and Dangers, some definitely are real but way overblown usually, of the Radical Opposition while claiming that all their own failures and deceptions are entirely fabricated.
I worked in the Operating Theater for five years. I was nodding along when the man was expressing concerns about the effects of PTSD for his co-workers and other medical staff... then had to collect my jaw of the floor when Trump's response to that was "yeah sure, lot of death. I saw this when it first came out but I forgot how powerful that ending was. Seeing it really brought me back to that initial period of worry, terror and confusion. Not that the pandemic is no longer serious but now we're more adjusted to living with it in our midst. In those first few months it was absolutely terrifying
It brought back a lot of deeply rooted trauma I didn’t know actually stayed with me, and that coupled with the contents in the segment itself brought me to tears multiple times. I had honestly forgotten how horrifyingly bad it was in America during “The Corona Spring”.

Even in a country like Germany where leadership takes the pandemic seriously, it is still scary with case numbers rising like this and a second lockdown now in place but I can't imagine how it must be for people in the US ...
The leadership here in Germany hasn't taken the pandemic that seriously. We never had real lockdown to begin with. And the one now is even more half assed. Despite the lame lockdowns we also have a bunch of crazies here influenced by US crazies who protest against wearing masks and lockdowns. Ironically, they started protesting after the first "lockdown" was lifted. The reason Germany had initially a good development with little cases and that going down was because a) Germans just follow the rules as long everybody else does it, too. b) Germans are a very reserved people, who only stick to their own groups and barely interact with people outside their groups. Only exception is young people in clubs and bars, which were initially closed. However, Germans like to break rules when they see others also breaking them. Germans will stand at a red traffic light, but if one person walks over the street the whole bunch will follow despite it still being red. We have a low death rate because we have many hospitals with intensive care stations and more ventilators than most if not all other countries. Our doctors are good, even though Germans like to shit on them. Over the summer, Germans have cared less and less about keeping distance. Initially people would keep their distance in super markets, but later they stopped doing that more and more. The majority still kept on wearing masks in shops without any protest though, at least that was good, same in busses and trains, which helped. But since bars opened young people have used them as replacement for clubs. Not all, a minority, but still, that's enough. When the borders opened, people went on holidays, even to regions of high risk. People here also could not wait a year to marry. Church gatherings are also a problem. The fact that this "lockdown" allows church gatherings is a total joke. Same with schools being open and busses filled, especially now that it is getting colder. Businesses are still open and people don't care whether they go to work sick. It all defeats the purpose. The way they are doing this "lockdown", it has the same effect as not doing a lockdown. It's just inconveniencing people and making them be totally against lockdowns.
@@maythesciencebewithyou I'm not sure that the "lockdown light" will not do anything. Because from what I observed, the groups forming around social events like going to a restaurant or to the theater was actually a big problem. Personally, I'm mostly infuriated about all those Fucking Idiots running off into holiday the moment the initial lockdown was ended. That was just stupid. "Problem" is that we value our Grundgesetz and the freedom of the people and their movement. And that's of course a good thing, but there were many people who actually SUED for the ability to go to a hotel in another Bundesland without offering a covid-test, and they won. And yes, lawfully it was probably the correct decision, but that person should have been taken at the shoulder and shaken until he got concussion so he wouldn't be able to travel! What idiot goes to such lengths just to go on a fucking holiday when the whole world is in pandemic-mode???!!! Our government probably made a lot of mistakes, but they need to keep within the laws and that says that the least restrictive actions which will be effective have to be taken. Everything more than what they're doing now would have been too much by law and would have been too easy to just overthrow in court. Which would not help at all. Schools are sadly so important. For the mental health of the kids and families and because the lower income-kids had suffered tremendous Nachteile (sorry, english is failing me right now) in learning during the first big lockdown. Some say they might never catch up to the kids from higher income families and since we already have a big gap between the incomes when it comes to education, keeping the schools open was considered absolutely necessary. (Also for the working parents, of course). It's not ideal, of course. But since not everyone can learn at home (no computer, too man siblings, no space, maybe even abusive parents), they need to go to school. Let's just hope this will help. Because if not, we might really need to do something more drastic. ...
@@maythesciencebewithyou I certainly agree with you that people have been slacking of a lot and agree with another comment that especially leisure activities and holidays are the biggest contributor. However, I think a lockdown light will still improve the situation somewhat and there is still an option to impose even stricter rules if it proves not to be enough as well as even call out a national emergency which would make it easier to forego some laws. However, as a country valuing democracy and freedom I personally think this is the right way as it is hard for a government to force people to do the right thing. Handling a bunch of idiots sure is a hard task, especially when the ones following the rules have to carry the additional burden. I would not say though, that our leaders are not taking matters seriously, but I reckon that's just my perception :)

One of my nieces' fiancee works security, this week he was working in a closed room with this guy who hadn't called in sick while catching COVID.
The guy basically joked about how he got it while on duty with my niece's fiancee.
Result is that the whole company is now having to be tested, as well as the client company that they were providing service to.
The guy spreading it would've been a typical Trumpcultist had he been in the US.
The guy's whole reply... "Well I'm not dead so clearly it's a hoax".

Yet they keep supporting him, like a battered wife. And Faux news and OAN is all they listen to.
Well said!
Remember when the media, Joe Biden, and all of the Democrats called Trump a racist for issuing travel bans on the EU and China? Remember 1 month later when the media, Joe Biden, and all the Democrats blamed Trump for Covid for not issuing travel bans sooner?
Yeah, there is so much disinformation about Trump its not even funny anymore. The media lies about Trump daily just to try to make him look bad.
Remember when they selectively edited his speech where he condemned white supremacy and nazis just so they could call him a racist? Stop paying attention to the fake news, Trumps best saw historic low black unemployment, historic low latino unemployment, the lowest female unemployment since World War 2, the highest incomes we have seen in decades, jobs returning to the US from oversees thanks to Trumps economic policies, historic funding to historic black colleges, prison reform aimed at helping black people, peace between Kosovo and Serbia, peace between Israel and UAE and Bahrain and Sudan.
Trump did way more than Obama did and Trump has only had 4 years despite a 99% hostile media. We need Trump to win. If Biden wins he will be an Antifa/BLM puppet.
Trump has been trying to stop them for months while the Democrats have opposed everything Trump has done to stop the violent rioters who are exclusively rioting in Democrat cities. Wake up and vote all the Democrats out or else this will only get worse.

Time ages all differently.
Ich krieg Magenschmerzen nur vom zusehen... und kann doch nicht aufhören.
Pass auf dich auf und bleib gesund!
I am more afraid of the lockdown then virus. Just wait we young people starting. Not to give a shit Any more.
