Also, dont think llama really takes shit from his followers, trade for it? yeah probably, but just take? dont think so? I havent noticed it anyway. Some of the others do for sure though. Any streamer that wants to be a credible source of content shouldn't just be taking shit from their community unless it's for a specific purpose like a showcase video, not general use.

He's been playing D2 forever just because the character is new doesn't mean the gear is. A gold find barb isn't something you'd make without the gear needed.

If your Merc is dying a bunch or just generally struggling, the leap variant where you teleport in and leap stun lock them while he kills works really well for keeping Merc alive.
You wouldn't farm this level gear off this character, it would be a blizz sorc doing billions of Ancient Tunnels and Cow Runs, then you rush the barb up and put the gear on
Some of these are weird recommendations, you dont need a single skiller, you definitely dont need fort/ebotd on your merc. Wealth armor on merc with obedience/reapers toll/tomb reaver all work perfectly fine. If u want him to kill faster swap wealth for treachery + ias jewel in helm depending on break point. Just spam leap on barb he rarely dies. Max leap and natural res to stay low budget. Ran hell HC with this perfectly fine

If for whatever reason, you're interested in making a gold find elemental Druid, I've gotten 2 ele gc's with gold find somehow. One with 40% gold find, other is like 23 or something.

Lol @ comments complaining about streamer privilege.. of course his fans and friends help him out, but he pays fairly or even overpays for basically everything he buys from his viewers. He gave me a mal rune for a spirit shield.. Not like he's accepting tons of hand outs based on his fame. He's just really fking good at the game and plays it for way longer than most people in a really efficient way. He also teaches all of his "secrets" for free on this channel.
Like Chris said, trade items for runes to help with space. It also helps just trashing a lot of the bad, undesired items. Even when you find someone that does want them, it's a ko or fal. Storage space is still a very real, limited resource.
I love this build but cant stand counting on merc so i did a berserk version, has 350mf and 1600gf but does the runs faster, some games i have to wait because the run was too fast so i think i sit at a sweet spot

He's been at the pinnacle of play in Diablo 2 for so long that a "fresh character" has Zod/Lo/Ko/half dozen Lems, double baba, etc. People who have BoTD and Fort probably don't need the gold find advice, Llama. Pretend you're a peon like the rest of us.
It's been over a fucking month, plenty of time to find shit. I didn't even start as a sorc and I'm doing pretty well. I now run a lightning sorc without infinity, and I do fine. Do I do 40k damage and one shot every fucking thing on the screen? nope, but I outpace a Blizzard Sorc. Know what I do when I run into a lightning immune? I fuckin skip them, same thing a Blizzard sorc does when they run into Cold Immunes. You also apparently don't understand the purpose of the character. It's for gambling, which "pEOpLe WhO hAvE a BoTd aNd FoRt" still do. None of which is NECESSARY for this character to be viable. Optimal? yes, but viable? no. The point is you're gambling for circlets/coronets/amulets/rings. Of which you have the exact same chance as anyone else to get something good. If you do find a GG one? You can literally finance the entire build in this video. That's why they're doing it. Because rolling something with +2 skills, 20fcr, life, resists, base stats like strength, allowing you to put more into vit, are extremely fucking valuable, and the shit that people with runes are looking to trade for, and they've got deep pockets.

Every player hasn't played since launch and you likely have people who didn't play this game for the last 20 years, like you and I have. I get the point this may not be a guide for beginners only. The thing is though, this is like saying in the real world, "Want to learn how to make money fast? Dump $4 million dollars into the stock market!" It's kind of a paradox. The people who have that money already know how to make money. The people who don't, don't have the startup capital to make it happen. MrLlama I like you and your content, but I think you should be careful with your choice of words, in the video you make it sound like it's easy to get this gear, it's not much, and yet you show us a character using two high rune words, an annihilus, several costly gc's... It can be frustrating for those who struggle to get the "simple" stuff aka a simple ist rune, a shako or even just one high rune. You're so much into the game that I don't think you realize it but not everybody has the opportunity to play as much as you and get such a good gear in so little time (and also common folks don't get donations from viewers :D), and the gear you consider "simple" or "not very hard to get" is in reality extremly hard to get for most people ;) (for example it took me more than one month of farming ~2 hours a day to get my enigma and that's with relatively good farming speed and quite a bit of luck) Anyway, just a random opinion from a random viewer !
Was thinking about going something like this for ladder start. Considering how much value it can bring to group play while everybody is still kinda weak but gear req seems quite harsh
His gear requirement is totally bonkers; don't listen to him. Not only is eth Bonehew great for Hell GF but eth Arioc's Needle (even cheaper) also works perfectly well. He's also using only one point in leap and seems to be leaning on Warcry instead, which is silly. Warcry is pretty pointless. A maxed Leap lets you hitstun the entire battlefield and herd the council members where you want them. It's easy to push them into a wall and then repeatedly hitstun with Leap while your merc stabs them. You don't strictly speaking need Fortitude, either. If killing is too slow, use Amp damage from a Gavel of Pain (socket with Hel for lower str requirement), very cheap to get ahold of. Yes there are only 3 charges but that's enough for a run, and if you tp to town after, recharge and quit it only adds 7-8 seconds to the run.
you do NOT need all that gear for the merc. All he needs is a Crown of thiefs (even tal rasha mask works), treachery/duress/wealth, and an obedience runeword and a reapers toll in your bags for the swap (one of the uniques is immune to physical most of the time). you can even just have him use the reapers toll permanently.
It's important to note that Obedience is not the best choice due to the cold damage on the weapon, ideally you want zero cold damage to have no risk of body popping. But it works on a budget, same with reapers toll which also has cold damage. The best budget option would be an Eth Bonehew. Agreed that this guide is piss poor
@@aaronwylie6928 I mostly agree, but note eth Arioc's Needle is even cheaper than eth Bonehew and after casual testing I'm not sure it isn't slightly faster killing. Hard to say. It's close. People underestimate Arioc's Needle because they overlook the Deadly Strike. But I suppose it depends on whether you do something like stick a Lo or Ber in your Bonehew.
@@Scorch428 Possibly. Probably. My build, the biggest issue I have is I have a swap out of two Wizardspikes to make teleporting easier/safer. So I don't have much of a "swap out from damage dealing to the Ali Babas for the last few hits." That being said, I'm considering upping some Goblin Toe boots I have to get some Crushing Blow in, as well as being on the look out for a Reaper for my Merc. Those two will help the build a lot, and give it some teeth in Hell.
Merc with Crown of Thieves, Gladiator's Bane and Reaper's (also non-eth) survives that perfectly. Have not tried Treachery on that build yet, the Gladi helps a lot with the hydras.
Yeah non-eth Reaper is effective enough but shatters some bodies. Treachery works fine but I think I'm finding Duriel's shell for cannot be frozen goes faster.
@@MrBlackwing83 It isn't "bad"; it's just not great. Non-eth Reapers is good enough if you can't get an eth Arioc's Needle or higher eth Bonehew (though they aren't super pricey on Traderie). Only a smaller % of bodies shatter. You have to factor in clear speed--right now I've upgraded to Fortitude with BotD and Fortitude does occasionally shatter some bodies but the higher clear speed and survivabilty (from higher leech) makes it more than worth it.
@@MrBlackwing83 Yeah, true, but occassionally. The cold damage has to be the one that pushes the life bar below zero I think; anyways, only a minority of monsters pop with cold when using reapers. But when aiming for the perfect Goldfinder, valid point.
@@MrPeperoni79 I agree you don't lose a ton of bodies in practice, but eth Arioc's Needle / eth Bonehew are so cheap to trade for that I think it's probably worth the effort unless you're having trouble staying alive. *Perfect* GF weapon is almost surely BotD for the leach alone. Having 24% total leach I've found frees up my attention to focus on horking and picking up instead of babysitting the merc to keep him alive. I don't think there's better than that (unless you have some fairly exotic setup, like maybe a merc with Pride + high upped eth Ali Babas with Zods or something.) The biggest secret (regardless of weapon) I've found is boosting AR for consistent hits and thus consistent leaching + faster kills. Demon Limb's enchant is only 9000 gold per cast and you can do it in less than 3 seconds at your stash. +218% Attack rating that lasts for 10 minutes. And 1 point in War Cry decreases enemy defense by over 60%, though in case of the latter you may want amplify damage (from gavel) or decrepify (Spellsteel, Reaper's Toll) instead.

I like the version when i'm using 2 Griefs and Whirlwind through everything without a merc. Less gold but still plenty to gamble and have fun on every single location in the game :)
I like to use Grief PB on main hand 2nd hand being Alibaba and use berserk to kill everything with marrow walk boots to use life leech if need using concentrate to get life back from life tap curse. Kills things fast as well.

I would like to see a comparison to a act5 frenzy barb, i wonder wich one is faster in killing high council, a2 or a5 merc. My question is also, doesn't Fortitude's chilling armor freezes the mobs, so they'll crack and not available anymore for item find?
sick how good the GF barb gear is already this eraly. i play the same build, my merc uses eth reaper, wealth, Cot. its good for hell, dont need expensive forty etc...

It’s mathematically the best place to find ber, so if you need high runes, just throw a bunch of gold find on and either 105 or 75 fcr breakpoint is fine and you don’t need to worry about magic find because that doesn’t affect LK drops

You find all kinds of really nice stuff, especially if you have an alert set and do trav only when it's terrorized. Plus you're getting closer to 20 million per hour instead of "a couple million", which you can directly trade for Ist+ or gamble with.
A high damage elite polearm with life leech, either eth treachery/stone, tals helm/crown of thieves for more life steal for merc. The gear for the actual char is pretty budget, just dont add the charms. Merc will do all your damage. Also insight and obedience are relatively cheap to build in an eth elite base for an a2 merc. Would recommend the nm offensive merc that gives might
Curious as to why you arent being rate limited there. I've left games, having been in there way longer then the duration u were in them, and then im limited. the hell is going on?
Put points in weapon mastery for weapon u gonna use then put points in berserk 1 in frenzy, then some points in resistance and 1 point in increased speed and rest points in Item find and Battle Order while some points in warcry. Then main hand use Grief, or for cheap weapon use redeemer with Shale rune. I use Kira Guardian with Lem for good resistance + can not be frozen for helm. And rest items can be same as he used in video. On swap i use lvl 6 life leech curse wand curse enemies teleport in stun then frenzy and berserk on enemies when Hp going low go back to frenzy to gain life with life leech curse.

You know what I find interesting, is that the ancient armors and all these epic weaponry from 100 or even thousands of years before the events of LOD is stronger than anything that can be made in the current year of LOD in game. Why is it that everything from the past is always stronger and more epic than anything of the current generation and the future in a bunch of games. Kind of makes you think what kind of enemies mankind had to face to require such weaponry from the past and why it then all vanished only to become a rare or epic find in the present and possibly future. Anyone else notice that?
I’m running very similar to this but with tomb reaver and duriels shell on merc and gavel on switch. It’s kind of annoying to repair every game but it brings the speed pretty close to this and I don’t even have ebotd or fort on my merc. Good stuff
What would be weapons' other than the The Gavel Of Pain ? Charges on an item ? My barb will be running a act 1 merc with enchant on it(long story as its for a team build). I cant find a good balance for a super budget build to make kills. Only plane charms. What should I go with on a 2+k enchant'd barb ? Any one have any suggestions ? I.E. singer, frenzy. It means its crafted. Certain types of blue magic items can be cubed with certain runes and pgems to roll them with a few guaranteed stats and randomize the rest.

I hit my character limit and I'm really bummed. A lot of these cool items I've been mfing I can't keep and even have to get rid of a couple of mules.

It can be frustrating for those who struggle to get the "simple" stuff aka a simple ist rune, a shako or even just one high rune.
You're so much into the game that I don't think you realize it but not everybody has the opportunity to play as much as you and get such a good gear in so little time (and also common folks don't get donations from viewers :D), and the gear you consider "simple" or "not very hard to get" is in reality extremly hard to get for most people ;) (for example it took me more than one month of farming ~2 hours a day to get my enigma and that's with relatively good farming speed and quite a bit of luck)

If you play HC. Dont do NM trav. 1 shot from fire enchanted corpse explosion bug.

Was thinking about going something like this for ladder start. Considering how much value it can bring to group play while everybody is still kinda weak but gear req seems quite harsh
His gear requirement is totally bonkers; don't listen to him. Not only is eth Bonehew great for Hell GF but eth Arioc's Needle (even cheaper) also works perfectly well. He's also using only one point in leap and seems to be leaning on Warcry instead, which is silly. Warcry is pretty pointless. A maxed Leap lets you hitstun the entire battlefield and herd the council members where you want them. It's easy to push them into a wall and then repeatedly hitstun with Leap while your merc stabs them.
You don't strictly speaking need Fortitude, either. If killing is too slow, use Amp damage from a Gavel of Pain (socket with Hel for lower str requirement), very cheap to get ahold of. Yes there are only 3 charges but that's enough for a run, and if you tp to town after, recharge and quit it only adds 7-8 seconds to the run.

you do NOT need all that gear for the merc. All he needs is a Crown of thiefs (even tal rasha mask works), treachery/duress/wealth, and an obedience runeword and a reapers toll in your bags for the swap (one of the uniques is immune to physical most of the time). you can even just have him use the reapers toll permanently.
It's important to note that Obedience is not the best choice due to the cold damage on the weapon, ideally you want zero cold damage to have no risk of body popping. But it works on a budget, same with reapers toll which also has cold damage. The best budget option would be an Eth Bonehew. Agreed that this guide is piss poor
@@aaronwylie6928 I mostly agree, but note eth Arioc's Needle is even cheaper than eth Bonehew and after casual testing I'm not sure it isn't slightly faster killing. Hard to say. It's close. People underestimate Arioc's Needle because they overlook the Deadly Strike. But I suppose it depends on whether you do something like stick a Lo or Ber in your Bonehew.

I have a similar build, can confirm: you can still get stupid cash off Nightmare, too. Plus he can hit Meph and Andy rather easily as well.
Would it be faster to replace 1 goldfind gear spot with the most power item to let you kill quicker?
@@Scorch428 Possibly. Probably. My build, the biggest issue I have is I have a swap out of two Wizardspikes to make teleporting easier/safer. So I don't have much of a "swap out from damage dealing to the Ali Babas for the last few hits."
That being said, I'm considering upping some Goblin Toe boots I have to get some Crushing Blow in, as well as being on the look out for a Reaper for my Merc. Those two will help the build a lot, and give it some teeth in Hell.

Merc with Crown of Thieves, Gladiator's Bane and Reaper's (also non-eth) survives that perfectly. Have not tried Treachery on that build yet, the Gladi helps a lot with the hydras.
Yeah non-eth Reaper is effective enough but shatters some bodies. Treachery works fine but I think I'm finding Duriel's shell for cannot be frozen goes faster.
reapers is a bad choice, cuz it freezes monsters..
@@MrBlackwing83 It isn't "bad"; it's just not great. Non-eth Reapers is good enough if you can't get an eth Arioc's Needle or higher eth Bonehew (though they aren't super pricey on Traderie). Only a smaller % of bodies shatter. You have to factor in clear speed--right now I've upgraded to Fortitude with BotD and Fortitude does occasionally shatter some bodies but the higher clear speed and survivabilty (from higher leech) makes it more than worth it.
@@MrBlackwing83 Yeah, true, but occassionally. The cold damage has to be the one that pushes the life bar below zero I think; anyways, only a minority of monsters pop with cold when using reapers. But when aiming for the perfect Goldfinder, valid point.
@@MrPeperoni79 I agree you don't lose a ton of bodies in practice, but eth Arioc's Needle / eth Bonehew are so cheap to trade for that I think it's probably worth the effort unless you're having trouble staying alive. *Perfect* GF weapon is almost surely BotD for the leach alone. Having 24% total leach I've found frees up my attention to focus on horking and picking up instead of babysitting the merc to keep him alive. I don't think there's better than that (unless you have some fairly exotic setup, like maybe a merc with Pride + high upped eth Ali Babas with Zods or something.)
The biggest secret (regardless of weapon) I've found is boosting AR for consistent hits and thus consistent leaching + faster kills. Demon Limb's enchant is only 9000 gold per cast and you can do it in less than 3 seconds at your stash. +218% Attack rating that lasts for 10 minutes. And 1 point in War Cry decreases enemy defense by over 60%, though in case of the latter you may want amplify damage (from gavel) or decrepify (Spellsteel, Reaper's Toll) instead.

I like the version when i'm using 2 Griefs and Whirlwind through everything without a merc. Less gold but still plenty to gamble and have fun on every single location in the game :)
I like to use Grief PB on main hand 2nd hand being Alibaba and use berserk to kill everything with marrow walk boots to use life leech if need using concentrate to get life back from life tap curse. Kills things fast as well.

I made a video showing Beast weapon and Grief weapon setup. Beast weapon setup I just take enemies HP down while Merc finishes them. Grief Setup I just kill them all fast.

I would like to see a comparison to a act5 frenzy barb, i wonder wich one is faster in killing high council, a2 or a5 merc. My question is also, doesn't Fortitude's chilling armor freezes the mobs, so they'll crack and not available anymore for item find?

My favorite weird gold find build is the gold find LK running sorc. You can get a few mil gold per hour while also high rune farming

It’s mathematically the best place to find ber, so if you need high runes, just throw a bunch of gold find on and either 105 or 75 fcr breakpoint is fine and you don’t need to worry about magic find because that doesn’t affect LK drops
@@evanwestphal3073 Meeeh.... I mean it depends on the economy but I'd much rather do pure GF trav runs and trade up for a Ber. You find all kinds of really nice stuff, especially if you have an alert set and do trav only when it's terrorized. Plus you're getting closer to 20 million per hour instead of "a couple million", which you can directly trade for Ist+ or gamble with.
For most people its better to do nightmare and just farm for the gold. That way you can start early.
nah, you just need reapers on your merc and you can do easy hell, i started with this build and never did nightmare, its waste of time

A high damage elite polearm with life leech, either eth treachery/stone, tals helm/crown of thieves for more life steal for merc. The gear for the actual char is pretty budget, just dont add the charms. Merc will do all your damage. Also insight and obedience are relatively cheap to build in an eth elite base for an a2 merc. Would recommend the nm offensive merc that gives might
Doesn't Chilling Armor from Fortitude disturb item find since it cracks freezed mobs? Would result in less gold/per run i guess.

Put points in weapon mastery for weapon u gonna use then put points in berserk 1 in frenzy, then some points in resistance and 1 point in increased speed and rest points in Item find and Battle Order while some points in warcry. Then main hand use Grief, or for cheap weapon use redeemer with Shale rune. I use Kira Guardian with Lem for good resistance + can not be frozen for helm. And rest items can be same as he used in video. On swap i use lvl 6 life leech curse wand curse enemies teleport in stun then frenzy and berserk on enemies when Hp going low go back to frenzy to gain life with life leech curse.

Any recommendations on set or unique items for levels 30-55?. That seems to be the range where guides do not cover the gear, once you are past using Angelics and Sigons sets.

You know what I find interesting, is that the ancient armors and all these epic weaponry from 100 or even thousands of years before the events of LOD is stronger than anything that can be made in the current year of LOD in game. Why is it that everything from the past is always stronger and more epic than anything of the current generation and the future in a bunch of games. Kind of makes you think what kind of enemies mankind had to face to require such weaponry from the past and why it then all vanished only to become a rare or epic find in the present and possibly future. Anyone else notice that?

I’m running very similar to this but with tomb reaver and duriels shell on merc and gavel on switch. It’s kind of annoying to repair every game but it brings the speed pretty close to this and I don’t even have ebotd or fort on my merc. Good stuff

My barb will be running a act 1 merc with enchant on it(long story as its for a team build). I cant find a good balance for a super budget build to make kills. Only plane charms. What should I go with on a 2+k enchant'd barb ? Any one have any suggestions ? I.E. singer, frenzy. This build will be on hc >_<

It means its crafted. Certain types of blue magic items can be cubed with certain runes and pgems to roll them with a few guaranteed stats and randomize the rest.
Of course, the guys from Travincal will give large amounts of gold.
