I have a cool 12/1970 k0. It is a barn find and has only 1,378 miles on it. It is kind of ruff and complete, but the back part of the frame has a bent from getting bumped by a tractor. I hope to find a nother with a good frame and make 1 out of the 2. Way cool bikes!
I learned a lot by working on my 74. As you might know I did a video series on tearing mine apart and completely restoring mine. It was a pleasure working on it. I only wish I had more money for another restore.
Question what a trial 70 worth it's all original and been it's in a barn sense the 80s from the original owner. Looks clean still but not sure if it's running. Just a ball park price thanks for your time and reply 👍👌✌️💯
Hey, me too. The 74 ST90 I put a ZS190 in. The 73 I have a Piranha 140cc in, ported head and cam. Nice bikes. Harder to resto-mod though. They have a different engine bolt pattern than the CT''s.
@@steveballew4775 I might put a 140cc in one of them. I had the cylinder borred out on one by DrATV. I also have a 1970 Z50 I put the 88cc kit on. Need to finish that one up first.
@@steveballew4775 I have a few picture of the bracket Mike Werner did to mount a different engine on his ST90. He used to have a UA-cam channel called Mini Bike Mike's Garage. I think he got upset at UA-cam, maybe demonitized for something so he pulled all his videos off.
Great video. I have a question I am installing a piranha 125 into my ct70 do I have to change my wiring harness? I also bought aftermarket headlights and speedometer
You can splice into the existing harness, but honestly it's much easier if you just replace it with a 12v harness. I've used Trail Buddy harnesses with good success in the past: mytrailbuddystore.com/wireharness-12vharnesses.aspx
@@eastcoastish Gotham thank you for getting back to me, really appreciate it. What harness do you recommend on trial buddy if I’m trying to acquire the turn signals as well?
@@kevinkazzaz1846 mytrailbuddystore.com/12vuniversalharness.aspx this one should do the trick; you're may need to change some of the plugs, but i've used it on a bunch of 12v builds with success.
I’ve actually seen Honda documentation reference it as KO and not K0. And other companies like CHP Motorsports consistently refers to it as KO chpmotorsports.com/honda/years/
Been wanting to get a hold of a ct70 frame for sometime now but every time I see them there always asking way too much or what I think is way too much I’m not really sure what’s a good deal or an over priced deal. I’ve heard stories of people getting complete rollers for a good deal. But still yet to find one, just recently subscribed and your builds give me inspiration to hopefully find a ct 70 that I can start building from the frame up.
How do you determine what year the frame is, and do they need to come with a title to make it possible to register the bike when completed. Awesome video.
The tag on the neck has the month and year of build, if it's missing that tag, the VIN is also on the left side of the frame right above the engine, you can use websites like: www.ct70honda.com/CT70ModelIdentificationGuide.html to figure out what year you have.
I restore the EU version of these bikes and I would never buy any of these frames. I rarely see frames this far gone here, most bikes/frames found here are mostly in good condition, close to no rust at all. With the amount of ct70’s sold there must be many in way better condition no? Are these frames just dirt cheap in order to spend more on restoring it? These look like they sat in the rain for decades. Love the channel, just curious on why this is the case.
Dude im 65 and crazy for the Ct70. My first brand new anything was a 1969 ruby red honda ct on my 10th birthday. I can still remember how it smelled when the motor was ran the very first time! And rememberd the tinking sound of it cooling down after riding. Then my heart was broken when my beloved CT was stolen right off the bumper racks of our Winnebago along with my dads 175cc Bridgestone twin on vacation 1973 Souix City Iowa. I was never the same. Now in 2024, Im restoring two Ct70's from the group up. My plan is to recreate my first ruby red Honda CT70! A bike that started it all for motorhead!!
The orange bike (1974 CT70 K3) should be done in the next few weeks. I don't have a buyer for it yet so if you're interested, hit me up at kent@eastcoastish.com
Great video, very informative, I learned a ton of valuable information!

Right now the market seems to be going down quite a bit.
Sweet!! Love that you save these fun lil bikes!!
Trail Buddy sells the steering stops for $5
Wow, 5x cheaper than the ones I've got from other places, thank you!
@@eastcoastish I just got one myself. I'm over in Bradenton, building a 1970 K0
With the high price point. Are people making hydroformed replacement frames ?
There are Chinese knockoffs like the Icebear but they don’t have value like the original bikes do.

Depends on the year and condition, here in FL, assuming it's a KO ('69-71) I'd pay between $500 - $1000
Can I get you to build me Ct70 212.
Possibly, I've got a few projects queued up. Hit me up on IG: @eastcoastish or email: kent@eastcoastish.com
Those frames will definitely keep you busy. The builds are going to be awesome
Got my fingers crossed that one of these days you'll pick up a project ST90 to restore. I have a 73 and 74 I'm slowly working on.

They usually still have the VIN plate on the neck and all CT70 will show date of build except for very rare prototype "silver tag" K0 models

Most of the rust is surface, I don’t buy frames that have and real rust damage. How are you finding 50 year old bikes with no rust??

Yes, make the K1 into a ct190. I haven't finished mine yet, but I'm already thinking about a second one. Nice finds👌
