I am 75 and have not embroidered since a teenager! But am now eager to try this on paper pieces for on journal pages. Thanks so much for guiding us. Blessings.
Roxy...Just gorgeous...Little tidbits of Spring! How precious and a keepsake of needlework from a talented artist! Just what we need to see right now a fresh bit of sweet!
These are absolutely lovely, and add such a personal touch to a piece. Beautiful work. And I learned a new way to knot a needle. I've been sewing for 55 years, and Sarah's way is so much easier. Thank you.
So beautiful Rachel. I've just started slow stitching as another means of slowing the mind. So this was perfect. Thank you. In these unusual times you have become even more of a comforting ritual for me.
Love that idea-stitching on the little cards. I have used 1 strand of 2 or 3 different colored threads when I didn’t have variegated thread, and it works pretty well.
You are an amazing talented woman. I think you were reading my mind. Embroidery is so hard to come by (along with so many other things), so I have been watching some embroidery videos so I can make some of my own. You not only in less than an hour taught me some simple but beautiful stitches but also that I can do it on paper. Thank you, thank you! If would like to share more, I would love to learn! I hope you know what an inspiration and amazing teacher you are. You are my mentor, really and truly!
what a lovely idea I have done embroidery for many years and have put some flowers on my watercolour paintings but never thought to use them on snippets tfs Rachel. have a blessed day Nicole UK
Love love love this! I’ve not embroidered for many years but I definitely need to try this. I think a few would look lovely bun the wedding book I need to finish up!! Thanks so much. Hugs
These are really fun, Rachel! I love the first one with the little tiny flowers on the end of random green stems. And I like that these are little and manageable, you know? Not intimidating for us non-expert sewers who like to play.
Oh Wow they are amazingly beautiful Rachel. And Thank you for the little tips about making the knot and putting the left over cotton through the hole in the card. I will be doing both. Stay safe x
These are just lovely! I learned embroidery as a young girl from my mother. I was always amazed at how beautiful her work was! I loved making French knots, but I often pulled them right through! Haha! Thanks for the inspiration. 😃
Oh I remember spending hours trying to get French knots right when I was a young girl, pulled them through most of the time. 😃 Thanks for reminding me of this fun memory.
Rachel, they are just beautiful! I showed my 8 year old granddaughter a snippet of your teaching. She is a lefty and sometimes it’s hard for her when I show her. She practices on a muslin scrap. I have always felt that you have inspired me since I saw your Jessie Cooley piece!! Thanks so much. I love hearing what is going on in Italy, I’m in the US and not every state thinks this virus is real. It’s crazy. Rachel you keep me grounded, so Thank you so much! 💕💞
Please tell your granddaughter from me that she is destined to be quite the genius! Us lefties have a higher percentage of genius! And even more so, because we are constantly challenged to fit into a right handed world, we are more observant and creative.
Ingenious. Love that idea of embroidered clusters...so sweet and a few touches would look adorable on cards or baby quilts. I think I will give that a try.
This is fabulous! I have a ton of those variegated floss and now I know what to use them for! I bought a tin of floors from a second hand store! And I love how you do your French knots as well! I never really got the way they were made! Thanks so much for sharing!❤️📕❤️
Thank you for this. I got out my supplies and worked along with you. My need to visit with another human has been met. Love to you from a fellow crafter in Kansas.
@@roxycreations679 I worked on these all day. Almost went blind sewing them. I guess that is worth it to have so many beautiful, unique clusters. What a great idea. So special.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have wanted to do embroidery on paper forever but couldnt figure out the best way to alter the stitches. My mom was the one that always made the perfect tiny stitches so I wasnt sure how to translate it. Perfect. Thanks Rachel!
Oh yes excellent idea. Love embroidery. I have the same containers for all my threads on the same cards. I write the DMC # on each card. I am cross stitching in the evenings. So this will be great.
I love this idea. I always enjoyed embroidery. My mother made the most luscious French knots. I am going to get mine it tomorrow and see if I still have it. Love the looks on a cluster.
Oh I love the added embroidery, Rachel! Such a beautiful touch! Btw...I’m watching you embroider while I’m doing my cross stitch. LOL thanks so much for sharing. I always enjoy watching you craft. Hugs, Sharron 💗🤗🌸
Pensé que era la única loca en éste planeta que le gusta la costura a mano. Hago mis portadas y tarjetitas todas con éste tipo de costura, y es muy relajante. Besos . Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱 🌷🦋❤

We need to see more beauty in these trying times. Stay safe and well because we love watching you create such gorgeousness! God bless. Lita from S. wales UK. Xx
Those flowers are so cool. I can see them being used in all sorts of applications. I love your way of saving the thread scraps by putting them through the hole. Very clever.
This is so special, Rachel, thank you for sharing. You mentioned that you are familiar with Jude Hill's work and now Viv! I have several pieces of her stitched art pieces. And now I will have to investigate Yoko Saito. You just may have inspired me to return to handwork. Hugs..
These are fantastic, I used to embroider when I was a kid and into my 20s when embroidering on chambray shirts for your boyfriend was popular. I recently embroidered on a vintage envelope. It had been so long I had to look up how to make a daisy. It was really hard to embroider on paper because it’s not forgiving if you stick your needle up in the wrong spot you’ve got a hole and you can’t really hide it. Needless to say I haven’t done it again since I did that one envelope it was in a journal that sold so I don’t even have it anymore. You make me want to try again. I’ve never heard of the colonial stitch either.
I've been writing down ideas of things to do and this is definitely on my list! I watch your older videos and learning so much. TFS! 🤗 So simple and lovely!
Saw you use a bottle pattex glue we have here in the Netherlands and i was happy about it because i use that bottle but i didn't know it was pva glue but it's very good and i can buy it in bulk so that's a good thing. I like the way you work and interact with your kids very much, it's almost that we have a nice come together and craft with a cup of coffee or tea. Thank you
Just had time to watch & soooo cool, Rachel. I’ve been slow stitching lace snippets but not on paper/lace/fabric mixed. What if it about stitching on paper etc that’s sooooo addictive! Love love love it. I’m a fan of a U.K. textile artist, Ann Brooks. She does YT Sew 4 the Soul videos each month with us and her snippet rolls are just glorious. Worth a look. I did a workshop with before lockdown & was like a kid in a sweet shop when I went into her studio.... just beautiful. C xx
Oh my gosh these are beautiful. I love hand embroidery it's such a lost art. My mom just passed and my sister was going through her stuff and came across 4 full boxes of embroidery floss. I love slow stitching also
