Have the Kinu and love it. Easy to dial in grind for espresso. Agree about the grip and handling, very good. Afterwards upgraded and replaced plastic dosing container with metal. Optional and more $ but worth it.
I love your flavor chart gloriole ;) The Kinu Simplicity arrived today. Somehow i don't like that you have to detach the handle to fill beans on other grinders.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I did borrow the classic of my colleague before to test if I am okay with hand grinding. The shots where quite nice, had to give it back too early to try everything, but i had to buy one afterwards ;) I didn't have the budget for a niche.
Hi Jack nice battle of grinder, I have recently the Phoenix and two months ago I bought the classic, now I had made the comparative in both... I have one pour over burr too... (I used made pour over coffe) the Phoenix has a lot static retention, the adjustment wheel has a little difference, in down part the classic has mini dent and a ball bearing in the slide bar just for making a click sound and feel that clicking, the knob handle is a little bigger in classic, the magnetic cup can used to in Phoenix, when you used the p.o. Burr Changes the setting with standard burr use 4.1.0 for v60, and with the pour over burr 2.8.0, both quality is more or less the same, for me in not such a big difference, both made good coffee.
Thank you! Maybe I should go for classic then. Are you saying there is no significant taste difference between pour over burrs and standard burrs when brewing V60?
@@mycoffeeshow111 in my taste I don't feel a big difference, before making the brew I grind the coffee with standard and then change with the p.o. Burr, to find visually the same size of grind... Then I realized both brew, I taste just a few difference, but not such a huge... Ohhh and the grinding is slower with p.o. Burr
Great video, this made me thirsty for espresso! They both made beautiful shots. What electronic grinder is equivalent, quality of grind wise, with these hand grinders? Meaning what would you have to spend to get this same quality if you were to buy an electronic espresso grinder? I'm looking for a buy once espresso grinder. Maybe to go with a La Pavoni.
@@zachb.6606 thx for watching. Great question but not an essay to answer. DF64 gen 2 is a good starting point, at around $400. There is also a smaller version with 54mm burrs but I haven’t tried that myself. It seems like every month there is a new grinder coming out-difficult to keep up with them 😛
@@mycoffeeshow111 Have you compared the shot quality of say, the Kinu with an electric conical such as a Niche Zero, Baratza Sette, or one of the newer conical i. The $450-$650 range?

Overall, which hand grinder do you think gives the best esspresso in term of body, taste and texture ? Do you consider 1zpresso better than comandante?
Interesting question. In one of my next videos I will compare J-Max with C40 for espresso. At the moment I have also K Max and all of those grinders are really good for espresso in terms of taste. Kinu offers a bit more clarity, k max and c40 can offer better texture. The thing is that I can’t recommend C40 as a daily grinder for espresso - it takes too long and it is tricky to dial it in. J-Max is fast but at least at the moment it is still difficult to grind especially light roast. So the choice would be between K-Max and Kinu.
@@enekoolasagasti1471 taste wise I like both. DF83 gives more chocolate and toffee flavours but reduces fruity notes. Kinu gives more balanced flavour profile.
I think you have to try bigger ratiofor this particular coffee. Maybe 2.5 to have more extraction. Because of roast level and Colombian coffee it’s a high grown and beans are dense. So it’s harder to extract.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I think you can try 18g in 45 out in 30 seconds - modern espresso and 18g in 54 out in around 18-20 second turbo shot. And then to choose what you like more. I prefer modern style)
Excellent communication here. I’m at the middle of this vid. I hope you mention the ease of turning, and grind speed for each. A Decent!! Excellent.
