As someone who previously has been on these kinds of forums, I can confirm that the people who get involved in these kinds of debates really don't care about animals. I mean, just read some of the comments brought up in this video.
When they use coward/ brave before an animal just to prove their favorite animal would win in a fight that base on physical statistic, you know their point is invalid.
Exactly if they cared they wouldnt want them viciously fighting to the death.
Or we want the truth. This guy did not bring up Everland park at all we’re both were kept in captivity together and supposedly the lions would eat the tigers. One on one the lions would win the fight at Everland and for some reason the fake lion fan that made the video did not bring it up.
@@chitoes1707 That's another thing, lion and tiger fanboys only see stuff to use for arguing, all true animal lovers wonder why both species are in the same enclosures to begin with.
@@chitoes1707 The point of the video really flew over your head didnt it?
Both creatures are amazing and should be respected.
Lions were actually native to both Italy and Greece and other parts of the Northern Mediterranean. I'm not sure exactly when they were hunted out all over, but Lions and Leopards were definitely still present around 1000 BC in Greece, and possibly far later, hence their frequent appearance in Greek and later Roman culture, not just from Barbary lions.
if its not much to ask could you tell me where you found that info. i live close to italy so its cool to think i could have had lions and leopards so close by.
Lions were present in Europe tens of thousands of years ago. The ones around today, that much of Europe had been drawn to, are African lion subspecies.
Leopards were extinct in europe before the bronze age. You are correct though that lions were present at that time in greece, just not italy. The 'lions" you are prpbbaly referring to are the extinct cave lions which is a completely different species (panthera speleae) despite its name. panthera leo is the lion we all know of today and they were present within the balkans and greece up until 100 BC
The fact that Tigers are almost always solitary hunters and Lions are not would suggest to me that they're stronger, but don't let that distract you from the fact that the true King of the Jungle is in fact the African Elephant.
At last, someone who knows the REAL truth. No lion or tiger or even bear will defeat a 6 - 8 ton African bull elephant in a one on one.
No, that would be us
Solo living & hunting Lions are more common than you think. And they live in prides because of the much harsher conditions of the African planes, you already mentioned the African elephants. And have you ever stopped to notice how there is almost no animal in the African Savannah, even among apex predators that lives and hunts alone for most of its lifetime compared to those that do? It's like this because Africa's and Planes, Jungles, Forests and rivers, are up there with the toughest, harshest and most dangerous ecosystems and food chains on this planet. Most of the environment is open, very arid or very humid (never between) extremely hot and littered with large herds of 1k lb buffaloes which can flock up into the thousands, big herds of 4k kg African Elephants which can reach up to 100 of the biggest and strongest species in the world, groups of 2k kg giraffes, families of 2.5k kg rampant rhinos, pods of dozens of 2k kg extremely aggressive hippos which can live with more than 100 in 1 group, Nile crocodiles which infest rivers and often live in groups of 20+. There are also vicious hyena clans which can range from 10-100 and many other groups of carnivores and large herbivores. There is a reason why the the largest and strongest species of many animals usually reside in Africa. Because most of them don't have rain forests with canopies bushes, caves, large bodies of water, mountains, etc, most of these animals have evolved and become very dangerous and imposing creatures to compensate for their inability to camouflage and make long-term homes in the environment which keep them hidden like Asian animals. A Tiger would not survive 1 month alone in Africa by itself. Lions fight/hunt many of the animals I mentioned earlier, there are even accounts and videos of 1/2 lions killing elephants, hippos, rhinos and giraffes
facts

Once again, you make another great video and you see the bigger picture. People are always asking me, "Which shark can beat which in a fight?" or commenting over and over that orcas kill sharks. None of them realize that very rarely does a dragout fight occur in nature. Pride is not an animal trait. Living to fight another day is. Either one animal kills the other by surprise, or one runs away. Usually the latter. Who would beat who in any animal fight depends more on the individual animal rather then the species. And again, a fight to the death is rare outside of extreme events. Always appreciate your videos my friend.
great post. research spermwhale , they are really on top of food chain more then orca. sorry for my english
@@markozbunjol625 Sperm Whales aren't at the top of the food chain, they only hunt squid and fish not other marine mammals like whales and dolphins.
To be at the top of the food chain, an organism has to be the top predator and the most successful. Orcas are higher up on the food chain than sperm whales because of how many animal species they have in their diet.
Orcas WILL hunt sperm whales, of course they don't really go after male sperm whales (though, they have been documented harassing male sperm whales with high-pitched noise). Orcas can hunt animals as large as blue whales (which can get to 33 meters and 199 tons). Therefore, orcas are really on top of the food chain in the ocean, not sperm whales.
Now, back in prehistoric times, there WAS a species of sperm whale that was higher on the food chain than orcas which was the species known as Livyatan melvillei which competed with the infamous Otodus/Carcharocles megalodon. Livyatan from fossil analysis hunted other whales and even large sharks (like megalodon at times). Livyatan was also very intelligent from further research. If Livyatan was still alive, it would definitely be higher on the food chain than orcas.

I feel like in most situations in nature where two predators are ever forced to fight each other most likely a fight over food. I'd say it would depends on who's hungrier. But even then, that's not a certainty.
@marshallwayne-uf4pq dude who knows. It was documented by locals and the person who shot him. Man-eating tigers were a known pest in India during the 1900's but who knows, it could have been fabricated, but so could all the other accounts of Lions. Its all accounts of Man vs bloodthirsty beast and theres probably a lot of embellishment whether its lions or tigers, and unfortunately big cats don't have opposable thumbs or the capability to give their own retelling of events.
If these cats could talk and we asked them _"who is the deadliest"?_ The would say _"man"._
Cringe
Honey badger fucks man up
The winner here is obviously Idris Elba.
It's probably worth remembering that teamwork is what made Roman legions so dangerous, not the strength of individual fighters. So choosing the big cat that hunts as a pride rather than the solitary hunter would be the logical choice as a legion's symbol. It's also the symbol of a vanquished rival (Carthage). Cultural symbolism is rarely based on something so basic as who would win in a fight. Rome wasn't run by 8 year olds.
And don't forget the lion's mane makes it look majestic, hence the "King of the Jungle" nickname. You're right, it wasn't run by 8 year olds, but even grown men fall prey to the "that sure is cool as hell" thing every now and then.
Which has the most fighting experience? I'll take a 6' guy (lion) who practiced basketball for years over the 6'7 (tiger) inch guy who didn't practice.

The strongest land animals are all vegetarian. Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe. One bite from a Hippo will kill a Tiger. Even the biggest dinosaurs have been shown to be vegetarian.
It's called "herbivore".
Me being a big cat expert can tell you that the tiger subspecies has a lot to do with which animal wins a fight. Also not all adult male lions or adult male tigers are the same. But in general an African lion would beat Sumatran and south china tigers, would be really close against indochina tigers slightly favoring the lion. Now adult against adult male the Bengal tiger could beat a lion 7 out of 10 times and Siberian could beat lion 8 out of 10 times. This would be one on one adult males. Remember 90% of people are biased so most fights are not fair, most fights where you see a male lion win is because it was a female tiger, a young female tiger, a young male tiger, a small male tiger. Theres more lion fans and that includes so called experts and big cat handlers so usually they would make it unfair for the tiger. Remember in most movies the lion was seen as the good animal and tiger as the bad animal. The Bible talks about lions and Leopards but not about tigers so theres always been more lion fans than tiger fans. But recently theres been an increase in tiger fans. When you see a fair fight tigers usually dominate the fight fairly easy. What makes people think that lions win is the willingness of lions to fight and the unwillingness of tigers to fight. Tigers are smarter and will usually try to avoid a fight.

I may be misremembering, but I could have sworn once upon a time I was watching a show that talked about lions and tigers fighting in captivity and being more or less evenly matched. They are both big, powerful animals, and it just seems logical to me that circumstance would play a very big role in which would win
Exactly. It all comes down to very variable circumstances.
As a lion fan, I agree. I don't doubt a tiger can sometimes defeat a lion. They are both big apex predators. Also personally I prefer videos showing them getting along and acting like family and best friends. Regardless of me favoring lions in fights. I prefer they don't fight like some people that forces them to fight. I believe they can be peaceful around eachother. As long as their well fed and taken good care of. Feed them separately and keep lioness's away when their in heat and the male lion won't feel threatened and feel like he has to protect the lioness against the tiger. They do that with any species that gets too close to food or loved ones. They see tigers as similar species and knows they are felines as well. The only reason they kill leapards and cheetahs is competition of food sources. In captivity a tiger is certainly not that. They almost see tigers as their own species because of size and facial features. Enough to know they are closely related but yet different. Once they get used to eachother they trust them more around lioness's and even let them play with them and show them affection, sometimes. Food never changes, lions always eat first if fed together, that's why i would feed them separately from eachother. I like tigers just as much. But i get sick of reading the big hype on them over lions. Because i know better.
An I the ONLY one who loves them both???????

Both have advantages in a fight to the death and are killing machines and can kill each other on any given day. Both are incredible animals in their own right. In my eyes Lions are the best fighters in the world while tigers are the best killers/assassins based on how they live.
Lmfao, they're both cats mate, with the same physiology, the bigger cat will always win.

Two majestic Killing machines, two big Cats, theyre both very proficient in their areas. Pitting these Animals against one another is just the morbid Human approval of right of the strongest, all be it in a completely irelative kind of battle, as you will not have these Cats fight in Nature.
Excellent video. I agree.
I did witness the aftermath of a fight between a tigress and a lioness. They were exploited in a circus. Something that now is forbbiden. No more animals in circus.
There was an investigation, a criminal one, for the living conditions of the animals. The tigress killed and begun to feed in the poor lioness. Apparetly the lioness attacked the tigress... they were both starving. I saw the photos in the newspapers of my town (in Argentina), they were both no much more that skin and bones. Devastating. But it get worst.
The investigations revealed that some of the personel of the circus used to go by the border of the cities and rural adjacencies where they were staying to gather stray dogs to feed the animals. But it get sadder.
But what makes it even more sad is that apparently they were friends they use to sleep in contact, I guess they only had each other as something warm in their life. I was told thet the tigress was really depressed after that, so stressed that she even injured herself... but I can´t confirm that.
In the case of artistic representations I think thay one specie is emblem of the west and the other is emblem of the east. They will show what they want to show. The east shows one thing, the west the opposite.
I love both. I admire all cats, the domestic cat, the caracal, the cloudy, the jaguar... if I know a cat I can only be amazed by that cat.
But nothing like a tiger, specially the amur tiger. But just becouse they are gorgeous spacially in person. And becouse when I was a kid everybody was "lion people" so to swing against the current. Stupid reasons for a irrelevant preference.
Here are some thing that I read or believe by the fight I saw
1 the tiger stands up in his rear feet
2 the tiger tends to put is back on the ground
3 in general the tiger fight is more feline that the lion fight (if it has any sense)
4 many times the tiger retrocedes (throwing punches)
5 the tiger seems to be more aware of the surroundings
6 the tiger (many times) seems to just prove a point, like being aware that a injury means death in the near future.
7 the lion seems more agressive
8 the lion seems more determined to fight to kill
9 most of the times neither the lion nor the tiger are willing to fight.
Anyway this idotic and violent debate could open the possibility of some cool topics more or less related. For start there are many subspecies of tiger and lions. There are male and females... a thing that I noticed is that is always a male vs male fight. Why? But this is something that I noticed.
So, maybe, here are some topics for a video I would love to watch:
I read that the tigers are more intelligent that lions, and by a big margin (but it must be supposed thet the lions have more social intelligence). Anyway hyenas are smarter than both..
Some say that the tiger and lions have very different personalitys. Being the tiger more the tipe you are my friend or not and more vengative. The lions more depending on the humor of the moment.
The history of Machi the tigress from India... and her daughters, the fight between the doughters, tha alliance of the daughters, the defeat of Machi, the sesion of part of the gained territory to Machi... in the same reserve the father of the cubs taking care of them. The reports of brief encounters between tigers from the same lineage... I do not know really and I can´t trust blindy on TV documentals... but maybe the social life of the tiger is not so simple.
Forgive my English, is weak and rusted.
On the other hand if the tiger could spit heat seeking venom from a distance of a 1000 yards and had counter measures for Lion gundam suits like, for example, a tiger gundam suit, it would be really cool too

The truth about fights between lions and tigers is:A since ancient Rome, lions have won over Bengal tigers and other beasts, sculptures, frescoes, Platóns dialogues and Kleopatra's memories prove it.
Overall I think the animals are too close in physical capability and the differences are negligible so would vary from individual to individual.
Size always wins

@@mardroidmk1393 A healthy Bengal or Siberian Tiger is much bigger than the average African Lion. It's not just the weight difference, but build structure as well, Tigers are more robustly built, with thicker legs and larger teeth and claws, all decisive advantages.
@@chalkandcheese1868 bengal and siberian tigers can grow a bit longer, but not all of them are longer than all lions. Basically, their sizes are close enough that there are lions bigger than tigers and of course vice-versa. As far as robustness is concerned, lions are very robust. I understand they are particularly strong boned with dense muscle particularly in shoulders and forelimbs, while tigers are stronger in their hind-legs.
I'm not a lion fan-boy who is saying they are stronger than a tiger and will beat them, but I dont think either should be underestimated. I don't really know which would fare best, although I suspect those of comparative size are pretty evenly matched and who would win would depend on individual cats. I'm not even sure I have favourite species as I like them both. I think they're both splendid creatures who are perfectly adapted to their environments. While comparing their power is kinda fun, I actually find the idea of them fighting for real rather upsetting.
There was a time once, a long long time ago, when their territories over lapped, and in that time, being social beasts who ran in prides, the lions would have edged the tigers out. Hypothetical fights between individuals is nuanced nonsense, only man could create such contrived situations....

My favorite big cat is the snow leopard, but it's not going to kill a lion or tiger. It may have a higher chance in it's native habitat, but there are many other factors that come into play, regardless of the animal. Factors such as: size, age, thickness of fur, thickness of skin, looseness of skin, health, aggression/territorialism, setting, and weather, etc.
In the end, it doesn't and shouldn't matter which would win. These animals' ranges no longer overlap--they will not meet in the wild.
We are so tribal that few can see this debate without identifying with one or the other animal.
The tiger is better adapted for fighting, with more muscle mass, much heavier, a bite more powerful than that of the lion, they jump higher and longer than the lion, they can stand on two legs and fight with the other two legs, they can walk backward. It is documented that in the Roman coliseums, the tiger almost always won, and the majority of bets favored the tiger. It is also documented on many other UA-cam channels that the tiger almost always wins. Also, consider that the lion will fight without seeing strategies or tactics, acting as a kamikaze, whereas the tiger is wiser, knowing when and where the perfect moment to attack is and knows how to distinguish which fights are worth it and which are not.
Both are majestic beings.
I lean towards the average Tiger beating the average Lion in a fight.
While I also believe the average Barbary Lion could defeat the average Bengal or Siberian Tigers in a fight.
It is truly a great shame the Barbary Lion is now extinct in the wild, we need to help those in captivity to live free in the wild again!

Tigers have nearly double the jaw strength and are much heavier then lions. I think where the advantage maybe lions killing one another is very common. It’s fairly rare in tigers. I think there are so many variables it’s hard to know as every outcome could be different. I think tigers are more precise where as lions they tend to rely on brute strength. I remember Joe Exotic said if tigers ever got him leave him to it but if the lions did shoot him. Tigers seem to kill faster and in general go for neck holds that maybe a factor to. I used to read Jim Corbett’s books of man eating tigers and when I tell you they are terrifying they really are. But yeah I think this argument could go around endlessly. Both incredible animals both very lethal. The temperaments of the animals involved and the surroundings would make a massive difference. Both cats need protection and should not be in captivity it’s sad to see them that way. I know Corbett was always more wary of leopards then tigers which is interesting.

At this point, the lion vs tiger debate gets old really fast
some facts for you. Tigers has more powerful forequarters and hindquarters. This helps a tiger to leap more, to spring from a disadvantageous position and to make sudden moves. This is of tremendous advantage to the tiger. This gives the tiger the ability to rest its weight on the hind legs and make swipes with both of the front legs. Plus, the strong hindquarters allow them to attack from the side and spring from unexpected/disadvantageous corners. Moreover, a tiger makes faster swipes than a lion. Tigers are more agile than lions.
Longer canines, longer claws and larger paws. These are the ultimate weapons of a cat. Tigers have considerable advantage here.
Some myths
Myth: Lions just fight and tigers just hunt The fact is, nomadic male lions hunt regularly and skillfully. Even resident male lions hunt sometimes. On the other hand, tigers fight, often to death, with other tigers. Tigers fight fairly often, so much so that around 30% of tiger deaths (for Bengal tigers) occur due to territorial fights. Also, tigers fight with leopards, bears, wild dogs, elephants etc. Most of the tiger vs tiger and lion vs lion fights end after one combatant escapes while some fights in both the cases may result in severe injury or death.
Myth: The lion has better fighting techniques The fact is, the tiger shows better ‘skills’ of fighting. It can swipe much faster than a lion, can use both the front legs at the same time for making swipes, is faster and more agile than the lion
You are being too best for tigers to be honest
I am going to debunk the both lion a downplaying agruements
Myth: lion only have bite force of around 650 psi
Fact: lion have bite force of around 1000psi on Average however it's not same as tiger as poeple claim since there are studies showing tiger on average can generate force of 1553 psi
Myth: tiger is a cowardly animal
Fact: tiger avoids fight don't make him a coward cause it's considered as wise decision
Myth: lion mane offer protection
Fact: The mane has often been viewed as a shield that protects a male's neck during fights against other males, but lions mostly attack each other on the back and hips. Instead, the size and coloration of the mane serves as a signal to other lions about the male's fitness, similar to the showiness of the peacock's tail.
@@RULER.EMU7878 There is a popular notion that a lion is meant for fighting whereas a tiger is meant for hunting and hence a lion will win in a tiger-lion fight. Some people mention that like a pitbull can own larger dogs, a lion can defeat a tiger since, like the pitbull, the lion is meant to be a fighter. This is a bad comparison. That a lion plays the role of a fighter in a pride doesn’t make the tiger a non-fighter and just a predator. A tiger predates AND fights. And that’s why they are way more active than lions. Over their lifespan, a lion fights other lions less than ten times. This may be well less than the number of tiger-fights a tiger has to face over food/mating/territory. A lion may have to fight off hyenas, too. A tiger, on the other hand, fights with leopards, wolves, dholes and black/brown bears over food/territory.
The ‘strength’ analysis is of course an ideal one. A lot of them may prove to be invalid in real fights. Most of the ‘documents’, ‘eye-witness accounts’ and vidoes show that there is more chance of a tiger winning the fight than a lion winning it. It seems that a tiger might be reluctant to fight at first. But if compelled to, it’s a much better and more powerful fighter than a lion.
Size does matter. An average Bengal/Siberian tiger measures 10 feet and 500 lbs. Can measure up to 11 feet and ~620 lbs. Lions average 9 feet and 410 lbs. Can grow as large as 10 feet and 530 lbs. (Not considering the more extreme cases for either cat). Clearly, tigers have an advantage. Additionally, the build of a tiger provides much more balance and agility. The weight of a tiger is more evenly distributed over its body-length than that of a lion. A tiger’s tail, being heavier compared to a lion’s, makes it easier for the tiger to turn. And if the animal with larger size also has greater agility, it’s the one that should win more fights. Add to that the advantages of bigger paws, faster swipes and longer canines!
An African lion, hailing from a place where it doesn’t get much competition from other animals, attacks from the word ‘go’. On the other hand, a tiger, coming from places where it fights bears, wild dogs etc, assesses the situation first and then goes for the kill. (Ok, lions, too, live alongside wild dogs. But they don’t clash much since lions live in prides. For the same reason, lions rarely fight leopards). For this reason, some animal trainers and experts have mentioned the tiger as an intelligent boxer. Additionally, the Bengal tigers are widely considered as being extremely aggressive when drawn into a fight.
In 100 fights between the two in any natural setting and in non-extreme climate, I’d bet a Bengal tiger will own an African lion 80 times provided there is no bias in choosing the animals. I’d expect an average Bengal tiger of the Terrai with 530 lbs and 10′, to make a short work of an average South African lion (~410 lbs and 8.5′). Even pound for pound, a tiger is stronger. If it’s a smaller-than-average Bengal tiger, with size and wight similar to the lion’s, it should be 70-30 in favor of the tiger.
Overall, there may be very few really big and aggressive lions that may defeat a Bengal/Siberian tiger, but on an average a tiger will win against a lion almost everytime.

This might be one of the dumbest debates out there although it is pretty close but since both animals almost share near identical anatomy it almost always comes down to which is the bigger cat but such a simple answer could never be accepted as the debate has been going on for years now with extreme biases from both sides making exaggerations which are now seen as common knowledge (such as lions only having a bite force as strong as 650 psi) but in reality these are just lies to either make the favored cat look better and the unfavored cat look worse than what they really are but the worst part of this debate imo is that both sides are so hellbent on proving who would win in a fight that they actively seek out video proof in the form of both animals being caged together under inhumane circumstances ignoring the wellbeing of the animals as it appears this debate has gone to the point where both sides don’t actually value the animals for what they are and only care about fulfilling their selfish biases
