Important to flash everything with exactly the same version firmware. Not even minor versions are entirely compatible. Later versions have better features but many devices lack space for the code, it would appear. The major oversight in ELRS is the diagnostics on the web site on the RX side. Signal info is really important if things don't work first go and just knowing if the Tx Rx is bound, is critical if you get no response. I think this is why Configurator offers the firmware version first. But, next time you buy an RX you likely want to use the latest firmware version, DON'T!

So are you saying if I have a radio master Zorro updated to ELRS 3.1.1, I can’t flash a BetaFPV nano rx V1? It would seem that’s the case because I can’t get configuration to update the receiver in pass-through, Uart or Wi-Fi.
"the only time I update is because of a build or crash" ....Does a crash impact the rx? I have a rx that stopped communicating with the tx after a crash and I just assumed it died. Does re-flashing solve the problem?
Sorry I will clarify further… typically after a major crash, my quad goes back to the bench for repairs. Could be anything from a broken part of the frame, smashed camera, busted motor. While it’s on the bench being repaired, I’ll update the firmware. Crashing on its own doesn’t necessarily impact the RX, or it’s ability to work. If it’s not communicating with the FC it’s likely the solder points are loose flat either the RX or FC side.
I'm just starting out, is ELRS all I'm gonna need? I already have a T-Lite with the 4-in-1, but I'm seriously thinking about just getting the T-Pro with built-in ELRS and selling my T-Lite instead of buying a bulky addon module that barely will get enough power...
I'm just hoping I can buy a transmitter that has ELRS built in as a protocol choice or a ready to select module and solder in the ELRS receiver into my drone then simply bind and fly after it is all set up properly in Beta Flight. No flashing and upgrading just simple like it's normally done with my Skyfly or FrSky models. Think this will happen soon?
Radiomaster Zorro comes with internal ELRS. You can put it into binding mode and then power cycle a receiver 3 times to put that into binding mode - no flashing neccessary. The whole point of flashing is to keep it up to date with new features and bug fixes etc. However without flashing you miss out on Binding Phrase.
@@55amps You need to buy an ExpressLRS Nano TX Module to add to the back of your Zorro. Your JP4IN1 doesn’t have internal ExpressLRS. There is another version of the Zorro which you don’t have that has internal ExpressLRS
No. As I said in the video - 2.4ghz doesn’t work with 915mhz… you need both TX and RX to be on the same frequency, and you can’t change the frequency, so you’ll have to either buy a new 2.4ghz TX or new 915mhz Receiver
@@umeshkumarravi8243 technically 900mhz will perform better than 2.4ghz from a penetration perspective as the lower frequency can get through solid objects more easily, and is below the noise caused by wifi networks. The point to remember is, your video is 5.8ghz so that’s going to be the weakest point, from a pure transmission point, and more especially in a noisy RF and dense environment anyway. You’ll have more benefit from choosing 2.4ghz over 900mhz because your video will fail before your 2.4ghz radio link does. So go with 2.4ghz

I’m using a brand new Zorro with an old Betafpv version 1.0 Nano rx. I updated the Zorro to 3.1.1 and I’ve tried to update the rx as well but it won’t take the update. It tries to access COM 16 and comes back with error “access denied” while using beta flight pass through. I’ve disabled firewalls, updated stm drivers, the rx just won’t flash. I’m going to try a newer rx next. The betaflight nano is something I won from TweetFPV’s live stream a year ago. This is my first dive into ELRS and so far, it’s only been a headache. It took hours just to update the radio to 3.1.1 when I learned I had to update EdgeTX first. It’s a brand new radio!
Updating EdgeTX is more of a Radiomaster problem than an ExpressLRS problem. Update your receivers to 2.5.1 via Wifi, then to 3.1.1. Always do wifi and not Betaflight pass thorough

So all the elrs hardware will work with each other ? eg. Happymodel TX with iflight Rx
Yes. As long as it’s all the same frequency
Are the SPIs elrs 2.0 ready or do we need to flash/upgrade these?
You will need to flash Betaflight 4.3 when released for ELRS 2.0 on SPI

The JP4in1 version of radiomaster radios is compatible with Spektrum
