Tarkett Stair Tread Installation using ProKnee Treadman

- We’ve been using the ProKnee Treadman for a number of years. It leaves us with a nice tight fit on our Treads. In this application we were installing Tarkett Stair Treads with integrated riser. Tarkett’s new system (2019) seems to be much better than the Johnsonite system that’s been used for the past few years. There’s no need to caulk the nosing (following in the footsteps of Nora and Roppe) as long as the radius is within Tarkett’s limits (tool now comes with the treads so you can test the stairs you’re working with). You are required to use cove stick where the riser and tread meet unlike Nora. The powertape system allows you to put the double stick tape on the actual tread instead of trying to stick it to the step (make sure you clean it with denatured alcohol before hand) and let’s you get all of your treads ready before you even start cutting. The powertape system speeds up the installation process and allows foot traffic right away. The one downside is you’re still required to build up the height where rubber tiles meet the treads. ProKnee’s Treadman has been a staple in our tread installations. When using 2 we are able to have one person set it up, one person cutting and one person installing on big jobs, making the process fly by. The three plates make the uneven contour of old metal stringers easy to cut for a great finished product. The riser system needs some work and I have reached out to ProKnee with my concerns.

Awesome dude! You are a true craftsman! I have a Tarkett laminated floor tongue and groove glue-less setup, went in great! Cheers !
Where are you from?
the riser usually does not fit right is the step is not perfectly flat slight rise in middle of tread can make rise big, slight dip can make it short
Just like a floor moving off the starting line. Makes sense. Not only that but some manufacturers don’t require cove stick behind it. Which will make everything shift based on the pressure you use as well.
If you need x tra hands on heatweld, lvt, base, vct , treads let me know..
We r getting slow till mid January...
Our main jobs are schools....
Military base, govt(small)..
We have small repairs here and there
Anyone who thinks this tool is not the way to do it does not care about quality. Grant it-as an hourly installer I am paid to do quality above all else.
It's better to learn a fool proof way than to hack away until you get it!
how do you clean scratches or scuff marks?
Have you tried WD40?
Great job. Blessings and Love in Jesus Christ Holy name 🙏. John.3:16 in the Bible says for God, so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life, for God, sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but the save the world through him
Toooooo slow!!!
Opposed to scribing? Doubt it.
We done over 100 treads and risers as one piece, cove sticks between them ,in 2 weeks
At new elementary school stairs
Used rubber tiles glue on treads, contact cement can on risers.
No double face tapes...
Tugged riser to the nose to made smooth
Between nose and risers.
Used only 25 ft measurements tape, frame square, 10 ft straight.. paint brushes..
Also used rubber mallet!!!
3 level bldg.
Robert Sol there’s no doubt multiple ways to install treads and you have to go with what you like.
