Oh my goodness! I just fixed my washer by following this video. I’m 68 and a grey-haired old lady with limited vision but I did it!!!!!! I figured I had nothing to lose by trying ( I’m big on trying new things) and if I failed I’d call a repairman. Thank you SOOOOOOO much! You just saved me $$$$$$!
I watched about 8/9 different videos about this problem & this was the only video where this man at least gave you the option of trying to clean the contacts before you buy a new interface control board, thank you & good job !
Just saved me multiple thousands of dollars. Washer was out but of course you can’t have a mismatched washer dryer…… Followed the video and it’s back to life! So grateful my friend. Thank you
This video is awesome! Woke this morning to my washer not working searched up the issue and your video was one of the first to pop up! Yours was the easiest to follow and within 30 min I was done & fixed!!! Thank you so much for this! Def saved my little family lots of $$
Dude…so glad my wife found your video. God bless you! It’s funny how in our old house we had a simple washer and dryer that came with the house, we lived there 10 yrs and never a problem. we move in to a new house and buy “better” appliances and have nothing but problems. these companies know what they are doing…i am grateful people like you are out there helping others not be taken advantage of. Keep up the good work!
That's awesome! I agree. The older appliances are much more reliable! A Kenmore/Whirlpool Washer from the late 90s will probably outlast any of the new stuff (despite being almost 30 years old!). Thanks for supporting the channel!
You saved the day. The chat bot helped but didn’t cover this. Everything is a learning experience. Many hours later my washer is back on and saved me a ton of money!
We are so fortunate to find this video! I had a $60 service appt coming and the husband found this. It was corroded exactly the same as in the video! Cleaned and it worked! Who knows how much money this video saved us. We saw a bunch of videos that were stating a whole another control panel is needed and $$.. try this first! Thank you again!
Fixed it with your help! THANK YOU very much. We had barely any corrosion on those contacts, but scrubbed them clean and voila! A tip for all your viewers - Maytag's instruction booklet says to keep the lid OPEN after washing until the basket is dry. We never did that, until now of course. That dampness probably contributed to the corrosion.
OMGoodness- just tried this fix and it worked right away. My wife had been ready to buy a new one. Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping us from wasting our money on a new one! I greatly appreciate you!
Thank u exactly what was wrong with mine. Had for about 18 months and went to do laundry today and wouldn’t turn on. To a non experienced person all this took about 45min- 1hr. Trickiest part is when u take screws out and pull the top forward u need to wiggle back about 1/4 inch to undo the clips.I paused the video and looked which way the hooks were. Video is excellent
This video was excellent. The failure mode was exactly the same, and the process to resolve worked exactly as described in the video. Very appreciative. Thank you sincerely
Came across your video after my wife called me sad and disappointed and said the Maytag washer wasn't powering on. After watching your video pulled it apart and did just like you said and now my wife is happy again. Thank you very much.😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this issue. It was exactly the issue with my washer. I followed your steps exactly and now my washing machine is working again, THANK YOU!
Thanks "Duct Tape Mechanic" you just save me BIG TIME!!!! My washer didn't turn on this morning so after pricing a new one at ~$900, I then started pricing the board and/or the control panel I stumbled across this video. THANKS!!!! It totally worked.
I watch this video, in it worked. I was looking at 149.50 service call just to get them to come out and look at it. Thank you very much your videos were very informative, keep up the good work,
Thank you! I fixed my washer in less than 20 minutes because of this video. Most of that time was driving to the WalMart by my house to get the alcohol.
You saved me $1200 homie 🙏🏻 Warranty people said no one around me could fix it so they gave me a gift card for $799 Cleaned the board up with some alcohol and it turned right back on 👏🏻👏🏻 I used affresh washer machine cleaner a couple weeks back and I think the steam sent it over the edge after a couple years of collecting moisture Either way thanks again!!
Great info! The secondary pads where some alternate connector was included in the PCB layout was corroded as you suggested. The corrosion seemed to be corrupting the serial data line! Since there was not a connector populated at this footprint the effects of the corrosion was elusive to me until you pointed this out. Thanks for the good posts!
Thanks for the video my guy! I've had to clean that component in the past when the machine was throwing error codes. I thought I must be facing a whole new issue since it wouldn't even power on this time around. Back up and running now thanks to you!
I use this video step-by-step..... And it worked !..... Took me about an hour from start to finish.... But I'm kind of slow 😅 I think I avoided at least a $350 repair bill .....plus my Wife is Super impressed with me !!!!!!!
I just had a bad storm here last week. Thought it might have fried my washer, but I tried this, and it worked! It wasn't really dirty in mine, but did it anyways. So either that, or possibly unhooking the power and putting that plug back in place fixed my issue. Thank you!
@@DuctTapeMechanic But now I keep getting the FL code. Which wasn't ever happening before. My washer will fill up, then stop, flash FL and drain, then shut off. I tried running the diagnostics, but from the code it gave me, it says the washer load is too much, even though there aren't that much clothes inside. I'm stumped. From what I've been seeing, I guess it means I need a water inlet valve replacement, even though that hasn't been an issue until all this happened. Any advice on what the actual issue might be?
Excellent video! My contacts were Black , cleaned it with alcohol pads and Q-Tips and was amazed how the copper color appeared. Machine working perfectly. Thank You!
Hah! This worked!! I watched another video that talked about testing and replacing the circuit board. I’m glad I came across your video. My contacts weren’t dirty like your video but enough to make a difference.
YES… this 100% worked. My washer wouldn’t even turn on and I came across this video. My model is: MVWB835DW1 So not the exact one shown in the video (still the Bravos XL), screw design on the back was slightly different but easy to figure out. Control board and all the guts were the exact same. High five, hell yeah, thank you!
Thank you so much ! I was able to solve my Maytag Washer's issue by following your steps. Other persons shows the videos about repairing washers but were missing some information in demonstration .
Once you take the large long plate off & the small plate you dont have to lift up the top of the machine. You can stick the Q-tip under & clean the sensors. Thanks for this tip. Worked like a charm! Saved us tons of money.
Thank you so much!! I have a Maytag Centennial which is a different model but it looks similar and i had a similar route to get into the panel. I couldn’t find that little slot where you clean of the corrosion but I used my hair blow dryer to take out all the dirt/dust. I left my house for 2 months but my washing machine felt like it was 3 years and wouldn’t turn on. That fixed and and you saved me time/money. Awesome🎉
Worked for me on my 2019 washer! Took me about an hour and half as I am rusty and slow with tools but end of the day it worked and saved me 1k of replacement cost! Feels good when you get an old machine to work.
It's the same principle how corrosion on a battery terminal post can prevent your car from starting. I'm glad I was able to save you some money! Most importantly, God is the greatest.
❤ thank you so much!!! The last time they scammed me that they needed to replace the control board!!!! Literally in 10 minutes got this fixed. That design is trash Maytag.
I believe that you can pop the clips on the back panel by slipping a putty knife between the panel and washers top and pushing the clips. No need to open the top. Great video.
Your right! That's another way to do this. I am kinda used to doing it this way having replaced so many lid locks and suspension rods! Thank you for watching
Ok good video u forgot to tell people if they see an error code. f6 e3 thats the interface error code and after cleaning they can use a bit of clear silicone on those contacts to prevent that problem in the future 25 years experience with whirlpool
Great video! Unfortunately this fix did not resolve my situation, so far I've had to disassemble the entire top piece to reveal the PCB. Which is a very thin membrane with traces on both sides and the conformal coating that it comes with is so thin that the steam from hot water and bleach has gotten in there and has caused some of the black traces to turn black and some to even drip through with green corrosion and cross. I've used alcohol and q-tips to remove all the loose build up which even removes some of the white coating. I did get a promising result where the lights came on for a few minutes. I'm going to try to repair some of the traces, if that does the trick I will have a UA-cam channel on my own and I will tag you in it! Thank you
Great video thanks for the info. This worked for me the first time, a month later the washer failed again with an F2 E1 error. I took apart the console and cleaned several contacts that had corrosion in addition to the visible one you cleaned.
Thank you very much. I unplugged mine to clean behind it and when I plugged it back in it initially lit up but as I was scrolling through settings I noticed no sound so I tapped the audio settings and it went blank. I tried what you recommended but to no avail. Would you happen to know the part number for that part you were cleaning with the alcohol.
@@DuctTapeMechanic well it worked for one wash. I went to do another load and it wouldn’t work. I cleaned everything again and it washed one time and then Now it won’t work and I’ve cleaned it where every thing looks new. So I ordered a new one today.
Thanks for the great video. I opened up the lid and the contacts were corroded but after I cleaned them the washer still didn't start. Any thoughts on how to determine whether I need a new interface vs. control board? Thanks.
More then likely the corrosion is somewhere else on the interface board sometimes they have to be taken all the way apart and cleaned. Is the machine throwing any codes? If the control board is flashing green light it is most likely ok.
Thank you so much!! I fixed my washer on my lunch break with your tutorial.
That's awesome! I'm glad I could help! Thank you for supporting the channel!

Thanks for the video. Helped me fix my washer myself. Much appreciated!

You are my go to guy for appliances
Very nice.
Question you did not check the module if there a green light. The other video did.
Thank you
Great video thanks for the info. This worked for me the first time, a month later the washer failed again with an F2 E1 error. I took apart the console and cleaned several contacts that had corrosion in addition to the visible one you cleaned.
Thanks for watching glad you liked it! If the problem keeps happening perhaps look into covering the opening with electric grade silicone.
The interface board/panel is one part. The number should be on a sticker on the inside of the panel
Thank you. This fixed my washer!
You're welcome!
This is amazing video, thank you for sharing it and. I am so grateful to you. You saved me and others so much money. 😀😀
Glad I could help! Comments like these really make my day!
You are a gem this worked for me
