  • My second Slipknot reaction is "Dead Memories." It shares an album with "Snuff" so it has to be awesome just by association. I have one more Slipknot video coming. After that, who knows? If you have song suggestions, I'm listening.

    I'm not saying I have a problem, but I just made my Slipknot playlist on Spotify and Track One is Snuff. Track Two is Snuff 10th Anniversary. And Track Three is Snuff 2012 Remaster. If you're reading this, you're awesome. Enjoy your day! :)

    The drummer in this song is Joey Jordison and he kicked from the band years ago. In my opinion he was one of the greatest drummers of all time.

      @@MusicCatsandCoffee I like to sing karaoke and Snuff is one of my go to songs. I can't can't do "Angry Corey" very well but I love his vocals. I'm more of a Chris Cornell voice. But if you enjoy Melodic Corey, I highly recommend Vermillion from The Subliminal Verses album. Edit: Just realized you mentioned Vermillion pt2 in this video, lol.

    Great video, liked and subscribed. Try ``Snuff`` if you like their soft side more. Or ``Sulfur`` for a more agressive but still soft approach.

      Thanks so much! "Snuff" is one of my absolute favorite songs ever. I've heard "Sulfur" too. It's no "Snuff" but still an awesome one. But is "Sulfur" considered a soft song? Yikes. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

    Hi! New subscriber here! :)
    Can you do Vermillon pt 1 & 2? (though they sound similar, Corey manages to give twist with the lyrics)
    It can be a good comparison from your point of view.
    Cheers from Argentina! :D

    Since you like snuff and this you may like the harder side of the band Nightwish, they as a whole are softer than slipknot but they get close to slipknots soft side. "Romanticide" might be a good starting point. Fair warning if you react to nightwish you will get a bazillion requests for more and more... their fanbase is heavily involved in the reaction video scene

    • @MusicCatsandCoffee
      @MusicCatsandCoffee  3 роки тому

      I've heard some Nightwish but no idea the titles, aside from their cover of Phantom of the Opera. I'll give "Romanticide" a try if it's one I haven't heard yet. Thanks for the heads-up. :)

    When this song came out, many people called it Slipknot's "Enter Sandman"... due both to it being somewhat similar instrumentally (the guitar intro, the drums, etc) but also because it's a really easy to listen, radio-friendly pop hit.
    IMO one of their weaker, way-too-obvious-commercially, songs.

    • @MusicCatsandCoffee
      @MusicCatsandCoffee  3 роки тому +1

      I will never hear this the same way again. :) I see your point though. I think even my mom would like this one. And I was so curious what Slipknot fans thought of this---this album in general really.

      @@MusicCatsandCoffee The "All Hope Is Gone" album discussion is a whole can of worms, honestly...
      Many fans, including the band themselves, consider it the weakest of their discography... yet ironically, it features some of their biggest hits, with Psychosocial by far having extremely well commercial success;
      Prior to Psychosocial, their most popular songs were arguably Duality and Before I Forget (which received extensive play on TV & radio stations)... but most likely the prevalence of Internet/UA-cam had a large role on how their popularity soared even higher, if you compare the state of things from 2004 to 2008...
      Also, as a paradox, AHIG contains some of the band's most technical achievements (from a metalhead's point of view), with songs such as Gematria, Vendetta, This Cold Black, Wherein Lies Continue and the title track (All Hope Is Gone, which closes the standard edition of the album - might I add that it's a really welcome jumpstart to the heart and mind, since on the album it was placed right after "Snuff") being insanely fast, intricate, heavy (that intro to Wherein Lies Continue is absolutely brutal!)... very METAL overall, showcasing their actual talent in writing metal songs.
      (too bad that they never bothered playing Gematria live not even ONCE... while AHIG they only played once or twice, which is a real travesty)
      With that being said, if you listen to the entirety of the AHIG album, it starts off spectacular with Gematria, Sulfur (another heavy smasher), the obligatory radio hit in the form of Psychosocial, Dead Memories... and then it starts to fizzle away and lose steam.
      The following songs by themselves are not BAD, per se... but you can definitely notice that they're lacking a certain coherence and consistency in structure.
      For instance, take Vendetta - it starts off with an absolute headbanger of a riff and drum section, the verse is OK but then the chorus just... it doesn't really fit with the rest of the song.
      As a final note, take everything I said with the consideration that this comes from a metalhead's perspective that usually listens to death metal, brutal death metal, aggressive-style thrash metal... basically any extreme style of metal with aggressive attacks, heavy & technical riffage, tightness, intricate drumming and so on
      (With that being said, I love Slipknot to death, as you noticed there is some real talent & musicianship in this band - and their blend of extreme metal styles with catchy & more friendly melodic cues & ideas is damn near perfect)
