What this vid tells me is that the wage gap was debunked 36 years ago (at least) and feminists still can't grasp the math.

Having said that Thomas Sowell's upbringing and understanding of the issues gives his position considerable weight and possibly if blacks listen to what he has to say rather than someone like Ron Paul they might be more likely to accept it, rather than going with the feel good platitudes of Obama the globe trotting communist.
Actually, his upbringing and understanding of the issues would give his position considerable weight with whites as well, since a lot of us are stuck with guilt over having "white privilege".
Listening to Thomas Sowell explain things is very similar to how I felt upon listening to Karen Straughan for the first time, it's like, in order to really accept what I'm being told it has to come from the "oppressed" group, so I guess my point is, race shouldn't matter, but it does.

Jason Luke I disagree. Freedom is an inherent right but it can be taken away and given by others (i.e. slavery, imprisonment, etc). As far as conservatives being openly racist I also disagree. Many conservatives I know despise American black culture for a multitude of reasons. This doesn’t make them racist. I think you need to understand what racism is before making a statement on it. The modern woke liberal ideology has always tried to change language to suit their political goals but it’s hard to redefine something so broadly known by calling everyone a racist just based on differing views.

The biggest issue with the whole "Pay gap" thing is that how its calculated is extremely important yet people don't seem to actually consider the variables. The worst I've seen is when they just take the average of all money earned by all men and the same for all women and then say "These are not equal, thus sexism". This completely ignores hundreds of variables but they act like its somehow irrefutable proof.

I have only recently come across Thomas Sowell. I am so looking forward to absorbing anything I can from him. He is so eloquent, and even in conversation sounds as though he has had several minutes to gather he thoughts for each individual sentence.

Anyone can claim that statistical comparisons of this kind come up unequal due to cultural differences influencing the choices of individual subjects; by simply comparing groups of people who have made the same choices, Sowell proves it beyond a doubt.

Thomas Sowell was citing economic maths and statistics 38 years before Jordan Peterson backed him up with modern data. And both sets of data show a consistent pattern on earnings. Women have earned the same as men when properly compared like for like - i.e. 'never married women' as Thomas clearly showed. Jordan makes the same observations nearly forty years later.

Yep - there's plenty of data to support Sowell. Females out number men in colleges and universities today - but most tend to still pick degree programs that will cause them to earn less money. Males in greater numbers choose degree programs in fields where they will ultimately make more money. Statistics also show that women actually earn more money than men when beginning their careers. But over the years men work longer hours and spend more time on the job which eventually causes their worth to employers to increase. Also raising children causes women to be less able to be completely focused on careers - and that is especially true for single mothers with kids. Lastly - if there are no real differences between men and women - and it's just a matter of employer bias that keeps women from earning more - why wouldn't companies fill all jobs with women who would do the exact same work for less money. None of it adds up - but then again - logic has no place in today's world.

And it was a big deal back then when both parents worked. When they did, their children were called "latch key" kids. And there were very few of them, and I remember thinking (when I was a kid 35 years ago) how cool it was to meet a latch key kid..lol. They were trusted to be home alone until a parent got home from work. But there were very few latch key kids. Most of us had a parent (mostly our Moms) waiting at home for us after school.

He is not comparing oranges to oranges. What he is doing is ignoring the facts, and offering alternative facts to make white people feel better. Think about it this way, if you examine just the legal history that impacted the economic history, you would find the impact that carried over. He wants you to believe, because he is paid to spread this nonsense, that the laws suddenly vanished, and the economic disparity that were the result went away with it. Which isn't true. He is paid not to discuss the parasitical relationship that enforced inequality benefits the status quo and allows people to be used as cattle.
That's why liberals use skewed data to come up with their figures to say blacks and females are paid less. Truly accurate figures require one to factor in things like education and the amount of time the individual has performed a job. Instead, liberals have a habit of applying general figures that omit these things, thus giving the appearance that "certain" groups of people are paid less either because of the color of their skin or because they have a vagina vs a penis. Their entire argument is completely LUDICROUS.

The broader meaning here is about how statistics can be misused to bolster grievances which drive policy makers to seek the wrong solutions to wrong questions. This is really about methodology in interpreting statistics!
