This story makes me ashamed to be British why is the government not helping our own, this poor lady needs help. It makes me sick to the stomach, our Government have loads of money to chuck at the illegal immigrants but this poor lady needs to be looked after and housed. This government is disgusting, they don't care about British people only themselves and the illegals who live a life of luxury compared to this poor soul. Its disgraceful her being on the streets.
you believe everything she said which is a mistake, she is entitled to universal credit even if homeless, she is either being badly advised or being deceptive
It is your fault, you vote for a government so you need keep on their back regarding where they are going according to your wishes.

What she's saying is just not adding up 5:28. That "wife cannot give evidence against her husband" is patently untrue. If she filed a police report she would be given shelter to the many women's only shelters that exist in the country. And that she cut ties with her family so that her husband doesn't hurt them? It just doesn't add up.
Her unreliability aside, it's really up to her to save money for emergencies, be employable so that she can get a job and not be homeless, or else divorce her husband and take his money if she was a housewife. Her story doesn't add up at all...

Councils and the government are simply inhuman.
She did not make herself homeless, her partner made her homeless by his violence to her. The council should help her regardless, she vulnerable and sick she needs peace, safety, warmth and care.

It’s shameful this lady has not been housed by the council, and yet illegal foreigners are accommodated and given 3 meals a day. I don’t know how the politicians can look themselves in the mirror.

Thank you for highlighting this lovely lady after interviewing her is there nothing you can do for her
she can claim universal credit even with no address, lots of things in the interview do not add up. The council would not give 'intentionally homeless' status to a victim of domestic violence.

Hi Sandra, if you see this please try contacting the women's refuges. I have stayed in a few because of DV, you shouldn't be on the streets. I'm not sure what their criteria is in terms of your homeless status tho, but find out & ring around. You might have to move area to find an available bed

The thing is if she has the ball rolling where she is with her health and homelessness, she would have to wait from scratch again.

Because of domestic violence, would she've not been elligible for a Women's shelter. I find this so mean of the government that homeless people with no address are not qualified to get a job or appartment.

I was in a domestic violence situation but not on the street i was fortunate that i worked 2 small jobs and someone helped me with a deposit on a house, the problem was i was evicted from 2 houses with no fault evictions and i had a 12 year old. There is no support or help with abused women and men, you leave with nothing while your abuser sits cosy in your old home, the law is completely backwards. Poor woman. I pray she found somewhere to live.

This is awful a lady of her age should be a prioriaty, its sad and shocking to see this hope she gets support, i know a guy who was living in sheds, at 67 but now hes in a shelted place in a nice area its not simple but there's hope, the guy did choose to live like that but in the end he was to old.
Why doesnt she go to a refuge
Because you cannot use drugs or drink alcohol. Why else do you think she’s not in there. Maybe been in and got barred.

An absolute disgrace. That poor lady. I am 59 years old just 3 years older than her. I feel so sorry for her. Shame on you Britain that you don't get this poor lady a small flat somewhere. Can she not get sheltered accommodation from the council because she's over 55 and ill??? It's expensive but she should be able to claim housing benefit to pay all or most of the rent.... even if it means leaving London?? Better to move if necessary and have a home.
There's 1.4 Million on the every increasing Social housing list. Refugees and parents with kiddies take priority and sadly so many families already living in one room temporary accommodation

Have drugs been a part of her life as she looks a lot older than her 55 years , Hopefully they can treat her lung cancer and gets rehoused . Benefits can be obtained her support worker should be able to sort this . This woman can testify against her husband for domestic violence.

@TheVideoGamesHistorian - Stress can do that, too. Plus she sadly has lost her teeth - perhaps by her husband having knocked them out - so she looks older. Plus having lung cancer, so her body and immune system seriously struggling! She clearly cannot afford to buy herself beauty creams to treat her skin, she can't even afford anywhere to sleep, let alone food. Out in the cold, damp and wet. It is all no wonder she looks older than her years. I hope she gets help very soon.

It changed or so I believed, in that a wife can give evidence against her husband, especially in regard to domestic violence. I hope someone guides this poor woman, with correct information and support. I read cases of p*lice requesting women to press charges against their husbands, and in some cases, it wasn't necessary and the husbands were arrested and charged.

So sad, but she's not intentionally homeless, she's 'fleeing domestic violence' and that's when she can get her local safeguarding team involved in rehousing her, surely, even the medical people she's involved with would know that, and they have their social workers who can help to refer her to the right departments for rehousing.
Instead Brits always say how they LOVE PRINCESS CATHERINE OR THEY JUST LOVE KING CHARLES WELL they have millions why don't they BUILD OR open up homes for the real Brits?

You can be paid by npes national payment exemption service where you are sent a text message and you go to the post office with id and claim your money all you need is a care of address to get universal credit so I sort of believe her but still one should be cautious when engaging with road people's

I live in a half way home after being on the streets for a year as a 18 year old, illegal immigrants get a place straight away
