PLEASE PIN this comment please to help others in same boat. So I have gone through every single step, multiple times checking Alexander's loctions. I talked to him in every step, even beginning in Limgrave and Caelid tunnel area. Then killed Radahn, found him and exhausted his dialogue at the site of grace after. Found him in Atlus, freed him with oil, found him in the lava, exhausted dialogue, then summoned him and killed fire giant in the snowlands. Then got to the FINAL place, there was a dragon there instead of him, okay I killed it, reset at grace, came to see if he was in the last plcace, still no Alexander. Passed time at site of grace, still no Alexander, okay I tried going back in order of the questline of his possible locations, he iss no where except star scourge battlefield just down from that grace after defeating radahn, repeating dialogue from earlier. Based on everyone's comments I have searched on this video and all others I could possibly find on youtube, as well as reddit on google.... It seems he is bugged here for people like us. Is the only thing to keep playing the main story line and trying to come back randomly to see if he spawns, OR wait until Software patch this in a further update? ANY TIPS OR IDEAS are greatly appreciated, in the end we all just want the damn shard LOL. Last resort option is regretfully killing him in the radahn battlefield, but who knows if this only gives me the weaker shard of 10% or the greater 15% because I did everything else in the questline? Is it REALLY that important for an extra 5%? I am considering just killing the only Alexander I see, cause 10% is more extra damage than 0% no talisman.... I have 90 hours in my first only playthrough, don't feel like starting all over just to see if this bug isnt there for me again lmao. However, EXCELLENT video guide man, very helpful, if only Software Questlines were just a tad more possible to actually accomplish and not bug the hell out so often.... XD
Thanks to you buddy I could finish the quest, my dude was stuck at Radahn battlefield I talked to him again and again then rest at the site and he was gone to the next stop , and I followed him all the way to the end and got the quest (at this point I am almost done with Crumbling Azula and went back to do it.

@@vanzter I love that there’s no hand holding or questline. It is super annoying yes, but it is more submersive, makes you feel like you’re actually in the game and pay more attention to dialogues.

Let's say you start one it'll at least let you know your in the middle of a quest an if you make a mistake or miss some dialogue it'll just vanish. I'm all for the game not really telling you where to go but for the side quest, a little tracking wouldn't hurt.
Latest patch added icons of NPC locations. But it has people checking the map 24/7 just so they don't miss anything. Drives me insane. Wish they'd add a journal for quests.
For those coming here in 2024 and never found him until end game don’t worry. You can meet at where you guys have defeated Radahn and continue the quest all the way through🙃
Fun fact , I start his quest line after defeated Radahn and 1st time talk to Alexander on battlefield , than when you reach last location , you actually fight him and after you defeat him he will give you Shard of Alexander as well , felt like this way more fun , since he dies as a great warrior :)

I met him early accidently and also met him before Radahn who was my second boss to kill and after many-many bosses and like 60 game hours (was just in front of god skin duo) I found him back at Radahn field and from that point everything went smoothly, so thank you!
Alexander is definitely at the area where the dragon is, without the dragon. I didn't kill it this playthrough and just found him chillin there. Thanks!

You can skip the 2nd “stuck in the hole” part by going to Mt. Gelmir straight away. He will get out of there on his own without you having to lube his ass and hit him from behind.
Just a point of clarification: Completing the questline with his Duel awards you only the Shard of Alexander. You also get "Alexander's Innards" which shows up as a keepsake in your inventory. Perhaps it is or will be referenced by another quest later (this is also where the blood soaked maiden cloth is in your inventory). I'm assuming that killing him early is the only way to receive the inferior Warrior Jar Shard. TYVM for the video! Helped me track him down. I didn't recall using an oil pot to rescue him from the ground a second time, so I'm not sure that is necessary for the line. I still found him in Crumbling Farum Azula just fine. No sign of a dragon today, but I had cleared almost the entire area my first pass through. It's possible I already killed said dragon. (Though I did notice an Erd Sapling and Golden seed I had not looted before on the way, so maybe I missed this section, even though I had already unlocked the lift.)
@@captnkurt83 Yeah. It's too late. However, the Talisman he gave you for beating him in the fight is the best version of that Talisman (the Warrior's Shard is inferior to it). So unless you just want all the stuffs, you didn't miss out in the end. You can, of course, get it in your next playthrough/ng+.
There's definitely a huge dragon that spawns on that platform in farum azula but since it's a late game area it doesn't drop anything other then runes so idk maybe after beating the area and skipping that part Alexander just spawned and the dragon just bugged out (idk why I had a crystal dragon just Thanos snap away when it was half health on ranni's rise lol i didn't even get its heart)
9:34 u didn't mention the fight with him i got surprised when he suddenly started attacking me and thought i messed something up so i used celestial dew to make him non-hostile just to find out i still had to fight and kill him
If anyone is having trouble with that magma wyrm (I'm on NG+ three and it can one shot me and takes like no damage that kinda blind sided me) you can just run past it on your horse untill it's boss health bar disappears wait like 10 or so seconds and run back and you can talk to Alexander without killing it.
Went to the dragon area, killed the dragon, respawn at grace, still couldn't see him. Went back to all the areas and couldn't find him. Looked again, and he was still touching sand at Radahn's place. Followed quest as video indicated and got the item. Thanks!
@@luierodriguez I think after the lava place, he mentioned going to the dragons area, so you may not need to, but you will need to go to the dragon area, which you go to after the snow area (story-wise) anyways unless you go through a portal. Either way, you'll need to kill the dragon in the dragon area before he spawns there.
@@connerbirley2823 At Rahdan, he should be saying he's going somewhere. After you get that dialogue, you check the grace there and he should be gone. That's where you'll find him stuck and need the oil pot. He'll get a bit bruised so he needs to go to the lava place to harden his body, and then he'll go to the dragon place finally.
Hey folks please read this For anyone wondering after you beat the game you can still do his quest, if he isnt in any of the areas go to rahdans area first and speak with him there, then go to the area by the tower, use some oil to grease him up then use a sword and attack him from the back with a charged attack (if you kill him the quest is over) after that he'll be in the flame area like in the video, speak with him there then go to the dragon area and he should be waiting after you beat the dragon, talk to him until he asked you to fight him then after you'll get the shard. I just did this today
Thanks a lot for the guide mate, appreciate your help :) To the people out there who can’t find him anywhere and are sure you haven’t killed him don’t lose hope, I could not find him anywhere at all until after I killed the dragon at crumbling azula where Alexander will be in his final spot. After I killed the dragon, he was back at the place where we kill Radahn near the sign of grace forging for parts. After that I found him at the lava area and then finally at crumbling azula where the sleeping dragon was. I hope this helps!
Bro I'm so mad, I guess I didn't put two and two together and completed the quest line. He was my favorite NPC of the game and the ending is BS, I lost a bro today 😭.
For the Alexander lore he was beaten badly after the radahn fight he mentioned that he was cracked so he went to the volcano to heal his wounds it’s noted that the lava has healing power for jars that are badly wounded in battle so that’s where they travel to get stronger jar armor
It should be noted that once you say yes to talking to (Melina) it is the first soft point of no return in elden ring, which will alter some of your quest lines. Make sure you get everything you want done before progressing this point. But to continue this is a necessary step in progressing the game and has many rewards to follow.... Happy hunting.
Great video but one big thing wasn't explained (or I missed it if it was) and also one minor thing missed at the end. Overall, you don't have to focus on completing any of the quest line up until the Radahn fight. I literally beat Radahn right after doing the first 2 bosses in Stormvale Castle, leaving the Jar guy sitting there stuck in the mud. I talked to him after Radahn and then you can skip right to the section covered in the video near Volcano Manor. The thing he didn't mention at the end is already covered below...not important, since you get the Shard of Alexander after the fight, making the other lesser item irrelevant.
You don't have to go up the dectus lift you can go thru the secret passage that leads you up to abandoned coffin, I didn't get the dectus till late game
If anyone's wondering if you can do this after beating the game, you can. I didn't see Alexander after beating Radhan for the entire game, beat it, and went back to the second hole you find him in and he was there. So just speedran his quest after and he was everywhere he needed to be.
I never did this mission cause I knew how it would end…I needed that talisman for spear of impaler flame build so I just finished it. RIP a true warrior..

After having this game for 2 years I just found the shard!! I didn't realize he was on the Radaan field and couldn't find him in the second stuck part!!! Also if you turn in the inards to his nephew you get the jar companion. Thanks again! Now I can fight the final boss in the expansion!
i completely skipped the second time you need find him trapped in the ground and he was still stood in the magma, i spoke to him there. i was able to summon him at the fire giant boss if i wanted too.
There is two possible endings, If you only meet him in radahns boss room, stuck with oil, and the volcano. he will challenge you to a duel and you get 2 items when you kill him. It was low key sad to kill him though.
Anyone who still has their Alexander at Starscourge battlefield make sure to exhaust dialogue, even when he starts to relegate certain lines he will then say something new, talk to him like 6 times to be sure you exhausted dialogue then rest at grace to see if he disappears, if not try talking again.
Omg, completing Alexander's quest is a must!! His talisman is so powerful for weapon skills damage. If you killed Alexander before finishing, dangz that sucks for you
- i killed radahn and talked to alexander - i craftet the oil pot and helped him out of the hole - i saw him in the lava lake at mt. gelmir but decided to kill the magmaworm first. - after i killed the magmaworm alexander wasnt there anymore - killed the giant before the start of the quest - no alexander at the giants place, no alexander at final position in farum azura - now he is back at radahns place - but speaking to him doesnt change his position anymore Anyone could help?
I can't seem to find him at any of the locations as the first time I met him was in the Gael tunnel before the festival boss fight where I summoned him and haven't seen him since after talking to him after the boss. Is the questline messed up for me or will it just pick up when I go to the last location you meet him or at the fire giant fight?
i thought i felt bad for killing the merchant but i think i feel 100 times worse for having to fight alexander at the end. may our beloved warrior jar rest in peace.
After I beat the dragon, Alexander wasn't there, he was back at Radahns. I spoke with him multiple times and he never moves. I've completed literally every other part of this questline including killing the dragon at the end where Alexander is supposed to be. I guess it's just bugged for me :(
I got 6 min into your video before you said I need to get to the land of the giants…..I haven’t had my hopes smacked down like that in years. Thank you tho WHEN I find out how to get there I’ll check this Video out again
If you don’t see him at the dragon lift for the final step, go to the radahn battle field and he should be there gathering stuff. Simply hit him until he pops.
@@firdaushbhadha2597 There is no other way to get the actual shard if you did what I did, even before killing him you get hard locked out of him going to the final spot. you either get this or go into NG+1
@@CrowLovesYou I totally get it, just warning people what happens if they do end up in this situation. Perhaps you have to finish his dialogue on the battlefield and then start the stuff after? Cause I didn’t see him in the second spot he gets stuck at, nor the lava lake, nor the the final area.
@@firdaushbhadha2597 I tried everything, I went to a grace point multiple times after speaking to him at the battlefield and he just stayed put. There might me a way to get him to farum azula but from my research. I couldn't find anything.
i didn't kill the fire giant yet to get to the dragon temple, so I spent hours upgrading latenna, then failed and got close so many times to killing him, afterwards I managed to first try the godskin duo, then finally killed Alexander in the great battle. I started at 12 something in the morning. it is 5:41am. thank you though 👍
You know what would be amazing? Have an Fromsoft enable 3rd party app support so, sure if you want to preserve the experiance and not have a quest tracker etc. you can play the game like normal, but allow the community to build those resources if they want, like having a quest tracking app that you can use, with an item tracker so you know what items you’ve gotten and which ones you dont would be so incredibly helpful
Hi, thx for the video but I have a problem. I went through every step of his questline, even spawned him to fight against the fire giant. I went to farum azula, killed the dragon and he was not there. Somehow he seems to be just like at the end of radahn fight (like 3 step back in his questline). I talked to him there and exhausted his dialogue but that s it, he won't move. Any ideas ? I'm lost. I'm on ng+4 and I want to have a break with the game, I did it all over again a fourth time just to get that talisman...
@@ConCon I did, I actually went through every step very smoothly (first encounter, gael tunnel, radahn festival, oil pot, mount gelmir and firegiant), no problem, killed the fire giant with him, and when I got to farum azula he wasn t there, I looked for him on the map and he is in radahn field gathering something on the ground talking about being whole or something. Maybe something worth noting I somehow couldnt use my horse against fire giant and I beat him first try. I assumed it was because I summoned alexander but it doesn t seem to be normal... maybe I encountered a rare bug that fucked the questline, maybe I should have die to the giant it would have reset the situation or something, anyway it feels like I m fucked
@@gregoireazema6664 So after progressing to the point where I had every map location unlocked except farum azula i finally went back to the radahn field and found him then progressed his quest line according to the vid and like you I also spawned him to help with fire giant and now he is not at the last spot after killing the dragon and now hes in the redahn field gathering himself with the same one line so idk maybe it is a bug smh i spent a good 2.5 hours proggressing through boss fights and the rest of the map just for the tailsman im on my first playthrough btw

Try double scavenger's curved swords with seppuku, they absolutely melt bosses. I literally beat radahn without summons before he got to phase 2 just spamming jumping L1's.

I swear as much as I love souls games.. they really need to have a side quest tracker because you can easily miss so much stuff if your not careful.

He gave me the warrior jar shard for helping him out of the hole in liurnia I recall. The innards can be shown to Jar-bairn for that story

That's where you'll find him stuck and need the oil pot. He'll get a bit bruised so he needs to go to the lava place to harden his body, and then he'll go to the dragon place finally.
Hey folks please read this For anyone wondering after you beat the game you can still do his quest, if he isnt in any of the areas go to rahdans area first and speak with him there, then go to the area by the tower, use some oil to grease him up then use a sword and attack him from the back with a charged attack (if you kill him the quest is over) after that he'll be in the flame area like in the video, speak with him there then go to the dragon area and he should be waiting after you beat the dragon, talk to him until he asked you to fight him then after you'll get the shard. I just did this today

Thanks a lot for the guide mate, appreciate your help :) To the people out there who can’t find him anywhere and are sure you haven’t killed him don’t lose hope, I could not find him anywhere at all until after I killed the dragon at crumbling azula where Alexander will be in his final spot. After I killed the dragon, he was back at the place where we kill Radahn near the sign of grace forging for parts. After that I found him at the lava area and then finally at crumbling azula where the sleeping dragon was. I hope this helps!

For the Alexander lore he was beaten badly after the radahn fight he mentioned that he was cracked so he went to the volcano to heal his wounds it’s noted that the lava has healing power for jars that are badly wounded in battle so that’s where they travel to get stronger jar armor
It should be noted that once you say yes to talking to (Melina) it is the first soft point of no return in elden ring, which will alter some of your quest lines. Make sure you get everything you want done before progressing this point. But to continue this is a necessary step in progressing the game and has many rewards to follow.... Happy hunting.
Great video but one big thing wasn't explained (or I missed it if it was) and also one minor thing missed at the end. Overall, you don't have to focus on completing any of the quest line up until the Radahn fight. I literally beat Radahn right after doing the first 2 bosses in Stormvale Castle, leaving the Jar guy sitting there stuck in the mud. I talked to him after Radahn and then you can skip right to the section covered in the video near Volcano Manor. The thing he didn't mention at the end is already covered below...not important, since you get the Shard of Alexander after the fight, making the other lesser item irrelevant.
Indeed that is true, but some people might want the lesser one to use before they get to him at the end.
I didn’t see him at Leurnia after Caelid. I even killed Fire Giant before seeing Alexander again. He still was at volcano area.

If anyone's wondering if you can do this after beating the game, you can. I didn't see Alexander after beating Radhan for the entire game, beat it, and went back to the second hole you find him in and he was there.
So just speedran his quest after and he was everywhere he needed to be.

After having this game for 2 years I just found the shard!! I didn't realize he was on the Radaan field and couldn't find him in the second stuck part!!! Also if you turn in the inards to his nephew you get the jar companion. Thanks again! Now I can fight the final boss in the expansion!

i completely skipped the second time you need find him trapped in the ground and he was still stood in the magma, i spoke to him there.
i was able to summon him at the fire giant boss if i wanted too.

There is two possible endings, If you only meet him in radahns boss room, stuck with oil, and the volcano. he will challenge you to a duel and you get 2 items when you kill him. It was low key sad to kill him though.

Anyone who still has their Alexander at Starscourge battlefield make sure to exhaust dialogue, even when he starts to relegate certain lines he will then say something new, talk to him like 6 times to be sure you exhausted dialogue then rest at grace to see if he disappears, if not try talking again.

- i craftet the oil pot and helped him out of the hole
- i saw him in the lava lake at mt. gelmir but decided to kill the magmaworm first.
- after i killed the magmaworm alexander wasnt there anymore
- killed the giant before the start of the quest
- no alexander at the giants place, no alexander at final position in farum azura
- now he is back at radahns place
- but speaking to him doesnt change his position anymore

Use both, ritual sword talisman is a 10% increase to attack power, shard of alexander is a 15% increase to skill damage

I can't seem to find him at any of the locations as the first time I met him was in the Gael tunnel before the festival boss fight where I summoned him and haven't seen him since after talking to him after the boss. Is the questline messed up for me or will it just pick up when I go to the last location you meet him or at the fire giant fight?
I had the same problem and he was chilling behind the grace where you kill rahdan
He's in the Rahdan arena, just go to the grace and he will be behind you.

After I beat the dragon, Alexander wasn't there, he was back at Radahns. I spoke with him multiple times and he never moves. I've completed literally every other part of this questline including killing the dragon at the end where Alexander is supposed to be. I guess it's just bugged for me :(

If you don’t see him at the dragon lift for the final step, go to the radahn battle field and he should be there gathering stuff. Simply hit him until he pops.

@@firdaushbhadha2597 There is no other way to get the actual shard if you did what I did, even before killing him you get hard locked out of him going to the final spot. you either get this or go into NG+1

i didn't kill the fire giant yet to get to the dragon temple, so I spent hours upgrading latenna, then failed and got close so many times to killing him, afterwards I managed to first try the godskin duo, then finally killed Alexander in the great battle. I started at 12 something in the morning. it is 5:41am. thank you though 👍

You know what would be amazing? Have an Fromsoft enable 3rd party app support so, sure if you want to preserve the experiance and not have a quest tracker etc. you can play the game like normal, but allow the community to build those resources if they want, like having a quest tracking app that you can use, with an item tracker so you know what items you’ve gotten and which ones you dont would be so incredibly helpful

Hi, thx for the video but I have a problem. I went through every step of his questline, even spawned him to fight against the fire giant. I went to farum azula, killed the dragon and he was not there. Somehow he seems to be just like at the end of radahn fight (like 3 step back in his questline). I talked to him there and exhausted his dialogue but that s it, he won't move.
Any ideas ? I'm lost. I'm on ng+4 and I want to have a break with the game, I did it all over again a fourth time just to get that talisman...

@@ConCon I did, I actually went through every step very smoothly (first encounter, gael tunnel, radahn festival, oil pot, mount gelmir and firegiant), no problem, killed the fire giant with him, and when I got to farum azula he wasn t there, I looked for him on the map and he is in radahn field gathering something on the ground talking about being whole or something. Maybe something worth noting I somehow couldnt use my horse against fire giant and I beat him first try. I assumed it was because I summoned alexander but it doesn t seem to be normal... maybe I encountered a rare bug that fucked the questline, maybe I should have die to the giant it would have reset the situation or something, anyway it feels like I m fucked

@@gregoireazema6664 So after progressing to the point where I had every map location unlocked except farum azula i finally went back to the radahn field and found him then progressed his quest line according to the vid and like you I also spawned him to help with fire giant and now he is not at the last spot after killing the dragon and now hes in the redahn field gathering himself with the same one line so idk maybe it is a bug smh i spent a good 2.5 hours proggressing through boss fights and the rest of the map just for the tailsman im on my first playthrough btw
If anyone kill him by chance just go to the church of wows. And dip in holy water.
