All true except the "family man" part was not always true. I read a book on his life (by Kram, Jr.). He loved his kids when he was around, but he wasn't around as often as he should have been. Still, can never deny he cared deeply for people and was very generous -- completely unlike a "typical" boxing champion.
Smokin' Joe Frazier was a class act; in a time of rebellion, Hippies, and constant national disrespect, Joe Frazier was a good and decent man living his own personal American Dream. RIP Champ.
Every time I watch this movie I get emotional, because it was a life of struggle. Joe Frazier legacy is overcome hardship. To why he was the greatest Heavyweight Champion
Much of the lack of recognition was because of Ali. He continuously cut Joe down and alienated him from his black community, even after Joe became world heavyweight champion.
Larry Merchant was behind that "Cloverlay" you'd see on Frazier's robe and his corners apparel. Merchant saw Frazier's plight after the '64 Olympics and put together 50 local businessmen in Philly putting in 250 dollars each under the name of "Cloverlay Inc." 12,500 dollars, a pretty good piece of money for 1964 to cover Frazier's living and training expenses in his early days as a pro. He might not have been able to turn pro had it not been for that. I think the return on their investment when it was closed out was 2500 dollars per investor.
Joe "the little army tank" Frasier !!!! My favorite boxer of all time even tho im a bigger Tyson fan overall , ive never seen Mike hit something so loud or zry to die in the ring like this lil smokin monster ❤
I make sure I keep Joe's legacy alive every day. Weather it's online discussion or casual talk about boxing with the boys. Nobody before or after had heart like smokin joe
Joe at even a young age had a speech impediment so as he aged you could barely understand him I think he had signs of pugilism But I saw a video of him old hitting the big bag and he stumbled and fell to the ground. Broke my damn heart when I saw that. RIP champ you went down in history
Pugilism is a hobby of boxing right? Yea he was a boxer.. Do you mean he was showing signs of being punch drunk from boxing? I was just confused how you wrote that.. Because pugilism is a hobby of boxing.. Cheers 🍻
Joe Fraser is powerful in close and that means expect Fraser to just bore in and punish you. Yancey Durham and Joe had a perfect partnership because there was loyalty and true genuine respect
When you announce Fraziers name in any capacity wether it be as Champion or as a fighter who regained the title, or as a guest. It’s always a place for him in that legacy. A great warrior.
I'm doing a mini documentary on "Smokin" Joe Frazier for The SC Hall of Fame. What a champion. He was tough! I can't stop watching his films. He didn't get the recognition he deserved. I am proud to remind people of Joe Frazier's legacy and greatness.
I'm from Argentina and i always wanted to see or read what Ali and Frazier thought about the death of Bonavena. One of the only two boxers that was able to knock down Joe. R.I.P Frazier, Ali and Ringo
Oscar Bonavena is a great heavyweight. Ali was meant to re-challenge Bonavena but he avoided him. He knew he was lucky to get a win in their fight in 1970
Everyone talking about Ali. Well I'm sorry. I know they made up but he did Joe so dirty! Joe helped try and get him back in the game. Joe secretly gave money to help Ali live! Ali turned on him. Insult after insult! Treated Joe like garbage! I don't care what you say. That isn't a man! It's a bully! I get promotion but Ali took it too far! I respect Joe a whole lot more than I ever would Ali! I don't give a dam what any of you try to come at me with! Your biased and can't see my point, then grow up! I stand fast on this! Ali was a good boxer. I'll give him that. Joe was a stand up man! A true champion! He loved all people! You gonna' come at me with your biased Ali, then grow up and run your mouth somewhere else! I have nothing to say to you! All I have to say to this. God bless you Joe!!
ikr in his early stages he really was like borderline 200 and 205 but really a HW cos he was so strong i am so confused but in his mid to later career he really was 217 and above ali too but he fought really 210 and above most of the time so a HW during those times, it was not seen good to be like huge like 250+ I'm so confused now
I don't know what his training was talking about Frazier could definitely box 🥊 Not sure why he talked him into changing his style to in fighter Don't get me wrong He was a beast at in fighting One of the greatest swarmers But to say that he couldn't box was Goofy I believe if Joe wanted to He could've did all that fancy stuff that Ali did You don't have to have height for that Look at HolyField
Holyfield was a boxer/puncher who could adapt. Holyfield was 6'1 and a half. Frazier 5'10 and a half. Big difference. Joe wasn't 5'11. Difference. His short height against bigger fighters worked from him. He could indeed mix it up he showed that In the Foreman rematch A slightly over average sized man going against giants while being half blind and a crooked arm is incredible. But Joe could do things that would shock you. He was the real Rocky. Heart of a warrior in and out the ring. And out of all of the champions he seemed the kindest I'm a big fan of him and Ali for different reasons.
No, joe could definitely box, if he maybe wasn’t blind in one eye since 65’ and if his right shoulder wasn’t messed up to the point where it would hurt shooting a straight right or if his left arm wasn’t crooked and not being able to straighten it, yancee Durham took all of that and did what he had to do, Joe was almost always the smaller man, only against quarry and bonovena he sort of was met in height, he would’ve never reached what he did reach if he tried to box, especially against Ali
What a Disgrace, Why bother Advertising this segment/Show about The Great Joe(Smokin Joe) Frazier, if you don't have proper sound quality. I'm very disappointed,👎
🥊 Sound problem on mobile ... Please watch it on computer sound is ok 🥊
Didnt work for me.
Thanks, It worked for me.
Joe Frazer will always be remembered as one of the greatest. When he entered the ring you were in for a thrilling event.
Joe Frazier was a man of great character. Tough as nails. Damn good family man as well. Never heard of any scandals plus he had a band. What a guy!!!
All true except the "family man" part was not always true. I read a book on his life (by Kram, Jr.). He loved his kids when he was around, but he wasn't around as often as he should have been. That left hook that dropped Ali - my favorite punch in all of Boxing!
Learning Joe Frazier was a professional singer/performer blew-my-MIND. I never knew.
He was good too. He could actually sing. WOW!!!
In one of his poems, Ali said "I'm glad you can sing and have a band for hire. because after this fight you must retire!"
Joe was a boxer . One of the best..
Smokin' Joe Frazier was a class act; in a time of rebellion, Hippies, and constant national disrespect, Joe Frazier was a good and decent man living his own personal American Dream. RIP Champ.
love him, I only hope he knows much his admirers loved him too. Eternal Champ.
One of my favorite fighters of all time.
Mine's too

A tough fighter, a sweet fella, and master of the " sweet science ".
that mr. Frazier left hand bomb was pure poetry
"a small piece of leather but well put together" Smoken Joe
Joe Fraser a great man both as a Husband and Family man. Descent person in every way. A true heavyweight fighter who believes in his best and ethic

Joe at 6 feet 4 inches would have destroyed everybody in the late sixties/seventies but what a proper MAN he was!! superb champion !!
With a voice like his trainers got he could have been one hell of an actor. And always working that’s Joe.

Thanks for your video!!
I like Joe`s singing. It was really nice, when in 78 , by Ali Spinks2, he sang the national anthem.
Great great moment. Hard to remember but I hope that crowd gave him a ton of love they announced his name there.
