  • After 10 months living in a motorhome, travelling Europe, we are now the proud owners of this property with just over an acre of land in Co. Leitrim, Ireland.
There's lots of work to be done, but we are so excited to turn this into our dream home.
It has never been connected to the mains electricity or had running water!
We are doing it all ourselves and want to stay off grid if we can.
Feel free to follow our journey transforming this place into a home for our family.
Becky, Sam, Isabella, Euan & Benji the chihuahua.

I love old stone cottages and the deep window wells. Thank you for the tour. This home will be a labor of love and Im certain worth the efforts. I live in the countryside in the US and there is nothing like coming home to the peace and serenity of nature. The trees, open space, birds singing, frogs chirping and so much wildlife to observe. Its a place to just be. Wishing you the best. ❤

Totally agree! We love the countryside and this is a dream come true! The deep windows with the old shutters are amazing. Sadly, all but one are missing, so it will be my mission to source replacements!

Congratulations on getting this land and project! We got ours just over a year ago, also a ruined, derelict old cottage but in Scotland. Don't let doubters phase you, when we were there we just knew it was for us. There may be roadblocks on the way and you may lose patience but I am trying to see it as a process and not the final destination 💚

Thank you. We are feeling a lot more positive this week. We love it here but I think we had a few days of worrying that we had over-faced ourselves with the amount of work ahead. We are feeling confident now though and trying as you & many others have advised to take it one job at a time & not get ourselves so stressed.

When I was a kid & I used to see old falling down houses in the middle of nowhere, I used to say to my dad, "buy that & stick a caravan there & do it up"! He used to just laugh at me😡 Fast forward a good few years & someone bought the houses I'd said it about & were doing just that. One was on Anglesey & the other in Etherow. They were both done beautifully & now would cost an arm & a leg & then the other arm & leg on top to buy now!! Whenever we drove past them when they were finished, I used to say to him, "remember when I told you to buy that & do it up?"😂 Nobody loves a smart a*$e though😂😂

Its going to be a big and probably longer job than you anticipated but in the end you are going to have a beautiful home in a beautiful setting for your family to enjoy, hopefully for a long time.
As I've already said, I am now binge watching and may I suggest that all future episodes are numbered so that we can all watch these in the correct order. Keep on with the good work!

We lived in house in a village in Italy that was built in 1849. The interior wood shutters on the windows were common back then. No drapes on windows then. No indoor plumbing either. They had a small shed that was attached to the home. It had space for the animals and separately was a small room for a toilet and bath. Which I am sure was not added on until well into the 1940’s because the town had no sewage until after WW2. No indoor water either. The town still had the communal place where the ladies did their laundry. And they could get water for the house. It was near a spring. I live in Canada now and can’t imagine going back. Lived from 1981-83 that was plenty.

It's a nice little tour of the property (I love the inside shutters ;)! Lots of moments of excitement and panic too will come; but the ideas will fall into place gradually; don't hesitate to take ideas from wherever they come, sometimes it opens up perspectives that we hadn't thought of! Think carefully about the sunshine for the location of the rooms (I don't want to seem directive but am I already? Sorry! I went through that with my house and things change sometimes very fast for some better...).

Aww hi! I have family in Marple. My aunt & cousins. My aunt & uncle had the most amazing house at Top Lock! I also used to work as a dental hygienist at Marple Brudge Dental Practice. We also have friends with a farm/boarding kennels near The Little Mill pub which we have been visiting since we were kids!
So pleased you found us. Hope you enjoy our videos. We aren't quite as good as Emily & Lou at the whole comedy & editing but hopefully it's passable lol. Toby is die to be castrated on Thursday so fingers crossed that will lessen his aggressive nature towards other donkeys. ♥️
