Good video, my father got me the weller pistol soldering iron for me 40 years ago, it got hot fast and i loved it. I don't use it for electronics but keep it in my car workshop. Watching this video reminds me of my father and makes me want to get it out and use it again.
I mix the Kalafonia rosin with Isopropyl alcohol in a squirt bottle to dispense when doing hole thru components. Prefer the Amtech or MG chemicals flux when doing surface mount (non sticky).
For the rectifier bridge, I admit, it's no doubt it was shorted, indeed. But the other thing you removed from the board was NOT a diode! Based on the board marking (FB15), and the fact that there's no inscription on the body of that thing, I would say it's simply a Ferrite Bead on a wire, which is normal to be read as short be the DMM in diode mode. The funny thing is that replacing it with a diode may or may not be successful, depending on the diode polarity in the circuit. Your actually had a 50/50 chance to this... Also, I can't see properly from the video, but IF that's a PFC circuit there, then 300V shows it's not working properly. The function of the PFC circuit is to boost the voltage to a higher value, usually around 400V...
Hi. It's no brand. I bought it on ebay. It's a 38Mp FHD V6. That's what it sais on top. The lens is what matters most. It gives me 15-20 cm working distance with a nice focus ability.
Hi Steve. Thank you for contacting with me. The microscope stand is actually an articulating desktop monitor arm. I have removed the monitor mounting part (the one the bolts on to the monitor) and placed the 50mm adjustable microscope stand there using a small tube and a single bolt. The microscope consist ofa typical 38MP HD camera with 100x lens.

@@pc-mastor oh yea black peace you solder is normal not diode i think it is coil ( ferrite bead ) that is why it FB the component name is . i mean black piece with no stripe on it and it measure short. Just for explaining in future i think it will work with diode to. Because it conduct one side. Regards Steve from Belgium
Hi,this is no diode,it's a ferrite bead for antiparasitic reasons.Its supposed to be short circuit both sides,since it's just a simple wire.Its marked as FB on the PCB.

I have a mixture of this in a syringe. Works pretty well. But it's dirty as you said. For more precise work i use Amtech

Thanks for the comment. I don't use fume extractor. My work place is big, with a high ceiling so the fumes dissolve fast. I try not to inhale them.
