Whenever I see one of these videos,I am always astonished by the fact that there are no music scores anywhere to be seen. What incredible memories these wonderful musicians have !!
Took him a month to compose these…What a beautiful performance you have done here…the Op. 6 of Handel and Corelli is some of my most favorite music of all time…
Doesn't get better. Wonderful combination of pure strength and utter delicacy. Imagine coming across this gang in a town square in Switzerland one summer's eve...
I think this group is great. I would love to hear the four programs with the narrator in there entirety. Also they have nice sets….imagine playing all this great music by heart…..no music in front of them. Such spirit…
Tempo Giusto !
I've always meant to go to Handel House but have never got round to it. Funnily enough I lived down Handel Way, a road in Edgware, North London for about 5/6 years, which was named after him. The organ which he used is housed in St Lawrence Little Stanmore, just down the road from Handel Way.
The soul is eternal, so yes, he does indeed live. The body acts as a vehicle for our experience in this frequency band which we call life. The atoms, in other words energy, which make up the body return to source. As does the skull. Everything eventually returns to source. From One comes Everything and from Everything comes One.
Perhaps I wanted to have a rest from being a woman and a musician. My femininity and love for music are so strong that I needed a break. I have to so much to learn about myself. Suffice to say that there is much more to me than meets the eye.
Hello! Here is an answer from our harpsichordist and librarian. We hope it is helpful! In this piece the composer hasn’t marked any dynamics in this score, so the musicians work out in rehearsal what they’d like to do dynamically: sometimes soft (like the very ending), sometimes quite full. Musicians use Italian terms when discussing dynamics: like piano (soft), forte (loud), and crescendo (gradually getting louder). You heard all of those in this performance. In terms of whether it is homophonic: this movement is mostly polyphonic, with players exchanging musical phrases. A clear example is the very opening: one violinist plays the theme, and then a second violinist responds by playing the same theme while the first violinist continues with other music. The various parts of the orchestra play in dialogue all through the piece, and come together at the very end in what is called a cadence, which is homophonic.

Just like I am a woman in disguise as a man so too am I a musician who is disguised as a non musician. I'll have to go back to where I come from at some point whether I like it or not. Like it or lump it I must return to music and femininity. As I am beginning to find out, Ishtar has many aspects.
@@gorgis2737 I could care less for your opinion. You don't know naff all about me and you shouldn't talk about things which you don't know anything about.
You're absolutely correct! The end pin was generally not used in the baroque time. Due to an injury from an accident many years ago, Christina Mahler, the violoncellist, uses an end pin to support the instrument. Her playing is still remarkable.
i was just wondering if the late Jeanne Lamon, and her band….. Tafelmusik; ever got the chance to record, Handel’s concerto grossi op 6 ??? Kevin Mallon and his Aradia Ensemble seems to be the best version at the moment? Although marred by a… not so good sound quality recording. In my opinion the microphones are not close enough. The music sounds very quiet; but very crisp and articulate. Also Mallon has included oboes in some parts. That’s great! i would have included oboes in all parts!. And also, my orchestra.. or band would consist of, female only; no men would ever be allowed. And the instruments would be original where possible; from the 18th century ( not authentic copies) There is a marked difference. Original gut strung instruments always sound the best. Also… there really is no need for a conductor waving a batten around when performing music. Especially 18th century. I’ve never learned to play an instrument myself; although i did have a go at playing the flute ( modern) and found it very easy to learn to play. But i can listen to a Mozart symphony… or any classical music and other music; and then play it all back in my mind/ thought, all the way through. It would have be nice though if Jeanne Lamon did record Handel’s concerto grossi op 6. Not keen on the late Christopher Hogwood’s version or Trevor pinnock’s Saturday afternoon at 14:22H. 13th November 2021. U.K. Southampton
I cannot Handel the quality of these performances. I need to go Bach to basics.
