    I'm glad to hear that there is a Bambo that doesnt take over everything around it because I love the look for my Tropical back yard and really need a tall sun break for my West Side of the Property.
    The area I want to put it is near my Pool and Pool equipment so I am curious how do the roots run.... deep or do they run around the top soil? Can you plant them near Plumbing under ground or will they be detrimental to that?
    MIke

      Bamboo is a nice complement to a yard but how near the pool? Clumping will not run but will still root about 3' and can spread 6' around from the center..some varieties more. I'd keep it away from pool equipment and foundations because it will grow some. You could plant a dwarf variety like Alphonse karr in a raised concrete planter right near the equipment if you are looking for a screen. I definitely would not put giant timber next to any plumbing unless you sink a barrier in around your equipment. Hope that helps.

    nice informative channel i have 80 acres in Barstow also in zone 9b but 2000 ft elevation. every time i watch your videos i find out more things i can grow there. i always just thought pistachios & dates were the only plants that would grow there. you have 3 giant timber bamboo clusters those get like 100 ft tall & as thick as your leg canes. in Philippines they make houses out of those. really versatile plant like growing your own 2x4s. i'v seen them fully grown out at the LA arboretum cooler place to be under the giant bamboos

      80acres--wow that's a lot of growing space! I'm excited to see the bamboo grow but will not let them get too big. Thanks for sharing and watching!

    We had a buddha belly at my old property 40 foot tall lots of shade, great plant. And we needed the shade here in Florida.
    Could you do an update on your frankincense & myrrh trees, I grow them also, I'd love to see the progress on yours...Thanks!

      The myrrh plants I had started in the ground in 2016 died that Winter. I should have done a better job protecting the young plants. Will do an update on the now 5.5 year old in the ground boswelia sacra soon. TFW!

    Do you sell bamboo? I live in Phoenix and I would like to buy some Bambusa Oldhamii.

      Hi! Sorry no I'm not selling bamboo but there is a nursery called green life by shamus oleary in Phoenix and he sells clumping bamboo, including Oldhamii. I'd recommend giving them a call to ask about sizes, price and location.

    Do you have any suggestions on where I can get bamboo here in Phoenix? I live in Chandler. Thanks

      Treeland nursery is where I got mine. They are located in Mesa. I'd recommend calling them to check on their clumping bamboo stock before heading out. Happy gardening!

    Does your bamboo need to get water all the time?

    • @EnlightenmentGarden
      @EnlightenmentGarden  6 років тому

      Not really--it gets drip for 30 mins twice a week right now. It will become drought tolerant once established.

      Oh wow, i have two, one is in a pot on a home made pond, i put it there cause it starts to die without water just for a couple of days,

    • @emmanuelmendezmartinez657
      @emmanuelmendezmartinez657 6 років тому

      the other one i put it onder a oak-tree (Tabebuia rosea) it's on my profile photo with the pigeon by the way ☺, i put it there cause in the shadow the soil preserve more moisture, but it's not doing so well anyway

      Did you get Giant Timber? That particular variety is really hardy and is just fine in full sun. Some rarer varieties (especially black bamboo actually require some shade). When I first planted mine last July I gave it a ton of manure, mulch and 5 gallons of water every few days for the first couple of months so it established quickly. After that, I was able to back off the water. Hope that helps and best of luck with your bamboo.

      Thanks, i appreciate, i'll give a try. Im not sure which specie is, but the one that is in the pond its ok, cause is on a pot it doesn't grow much, its just the other one which is struggling a little.
