Today I'm going to be comparing my NEW M1 MacBook Air with my OLD 2017 Intel Macbook Pro 13 Inch and seeing which gives us the most FPS in Minecraft. We're going to be running various different tests on each of the systems to find the Winner!
Lots of people liked my 'Playing Minecraft on a M1 Macbook Air' video and a lot of you guys like the last video I did 'Gaming PC Vs M1 MacBook Air Minecraft FPS Test' so I decided to take the M1 Macbook Air and try and compare it to something more fair!
We're going to be seeing how it runs 1.8.9, Lunar client and the latest 1.18 version and attempting to do some PvP on Hypixel and we will also see
the Geekbench CPU test results and Unigen heaven GPU benchmark.
In minecraft we will see how much FPS it gives me and whether it runs well. M1 Macbook air was actually cheaper than the 2017 Macbook Pro when it first came out

The official version of Minecraft 1.19 in the Minecraft launcher is now native Apple Silicon, so it doesn’t have to run through Rosetta 2 on M1 macs, and it runs even better on the M1 MacBook Air !

I'm pretty sure on almost all new versions you can just go into chat settings and turn on reduced debug info so it shows less info on the debug(F3) screen

They are insane
its u series intel, these are low end cpu's, they meant to throttle hard on load.
Just a note with Macs Fan Control, you can have the icon in the menu bar show a certain temperature like for the Core Average and fan[s] speed. Also, Lunar Client in 1.18.2 has been constantly crashing for me (using an M1 Mac Mini). Any ideas on how to fix that?

mac os montery broke the gl engine, not sure how to fix
Lunar Client is primarily meant for Intel chips and there are a lot of bugs on Macs. There is currently no way to fix it but I think it works on Lunar 1.12.2

Hey Notro! CMpack client updated its client with a launcher and its FPS is REALLY good. I'd like to see you compare the fps between the new and updated CMLauncher and the LunarClient. I would appreciate it if you did! As always, love your videos and your voice is very chilling, you should do a podcast or something that would be fun.

i suggest turning biome blend off , it affects performence a lot.

lol I got 1.3k with decent but low graphics in the minemen lobby on my m1 MacBook pro.
Dan, you can get a native ARM version of minecraft which doubles the fps on m1 products

You can get 500 fps on your 2017 Macbook Pro, if you use the lowest settings and optimized Lunar Client mods for FPS.

The M1 Mac is the reason now why I can't play versions of the game before 1.6 anymore! The colors are now inverted!
The CPU usage can be fixed but I think only on windows 10 where u go in details in task manager and change the affinity and disable cpu 0.
This gigachad managed to survive the Great Butterfly Keyboard Stairfall.
For context, Apple’s butterfly keyboard switches that were introduced in 2015 with the 12 inch MacBook. It was discontinued in all MacBook models in 2019 going with the industry standard scissor shaped switches.

Btw, i recommend using the f11 fullscreen on Minecraft instead of the full screen thing on macOS cause in macOS, when Minecraft is in fullscreen. macOS makes it as a borderless fullscreen window and borderless fullscreen actually makes the performance worse compared to fullscreen. I know F11 would hide the windows so change the fullscreen control in the controls menu to whatever and click it to make Minecraft fullscreen. It makes a difference between Minecraft's Fullscreen compared to macOS's fullscreen mode.

So on the new m2 MacBook air do you recommend getting the 8core gpu or the 10core gpu
Honestly depends on your use case. However the 10 code according to the graph at WWDC consumes more power which could mean higher CPU and GPU temperatures but I don’t think it’ll have an impact on performance that much. Personally I’m going to be getting the 10 core GPU

This is exactly what i'd expect from a mac person. this is not an equal comparison at all
It's not because M1 Macs are made to not last (soldered SSD+firmware on it+can't easily install a custom OS) than Intel MacBooks are good for gaming.
In fact their latest design is trash too!
you should make this video again but this time using the arm version of minecraft for the macbook. Here you are using the Rosetta engine that makes minecraft 4x slower
i though the video would be about what hardware configuration give more perfomance between the same macbook just like with samsung phone, exynoss and qualcom hardware configuration. in truth this doesn't feel fair because the generation difference between the 2 macbook is 3 years which is enough to make big improvement just like how the intel i7 7700k which is the intel best consumer grade cpu at 2017 having similar score with low end i3 10105f which is a budget cpu in 2020.
and he is using U series i5, U series intel is a low end cpu's, they alsmost as fast as H counterparts for few first minutes and then throttle hard with low performance, they aren't for gaming or work, just bad performers overall, so yah one more thing why its not fair...

I have a Mac book pro with Intel graphics too,
but I can reach in vanilla mc up to 90 fps.
I dont have many performance problems if I play vanilla.
And my Mac isn't really loud. The only problem is that I cant play with shaders like sildurs or sets.

The M1 Macs are definitely worth it for the processor but when you get an Intel Mac with a AMD Raedeon GPU within it when I think the mac with the dedicated GPU would beat the M1
A dedicated gpu will almost always beat an integrated graphics. Of course, apples m1 pro, max and ultra are very powerful for integrated graphics with the ultra rivaling either the 3060 or 70.

well if you get not ancient 2 core U series intel cpu like he is using in this video, but something more recent and from H line not crappy U, i guess even then on mc you would get better performance. im surprised how well 2 core U cpu hold against apple flagship

I was hoping to get new macbook pro but i have dell inspiron 15 5580 16gb ram intel uhd 620 and its 8 gen it give me total 210 fps and drops to 167 should i upgrade or not btw in fortnite i get 157 fps. So should i buy or i use my dell laptop

i just want to ask what are the intel graphic cards for when they are so bad for games and are they better for something else then amd or nvidia graphic cards and why we always get integrated intel graphics in laptops if they are so bad is it just so they can sell them i dont get it
Because most older laptops come with an Intel cpu, so the igpu will also be Intel. A lot of newer windows systems do use amd now though!
My $100 desktop pc runs Minecraft 1.19.4 default settings at 80-100+ fps. The m1 MacBook Air is probably a couple thousand dollars. Oh and I don’t have a graphics card. It’s using the integrated gpu 😂

the intel macbook is 3 years older and is not highest end model either. it's not fair to compare an old intel processor with a newer m1

this wasn’t a fair test as Firefox and safari were open which uses a lot of ram for the laptop and when you only have 8gb it makes a large impact on the gameplay..

the thing is that this mac book pro was PRO in their years (2017,18) now its a little bit worst but its still GOOD MACBOOK !
do a curseforge lightcraft review its a great mod and it heleped me get from 30 fps to 100+ fps great mod try it out!

i play on 2015 mac with intel and get around 40-50 fps but around 60-70 with sodium
OK if put a good graphics card like gtx 1660 super or rx 590 for high end rtx 3070 I got 1500fps in minecraft
i suggest capping fps to 70fps. putting it at the max fps will take more power and it’s useless since the mac’s screens are only 60hz. setting it to 70fps allows it to be more consistent and smooth since sometimes it’ll lag to maybe 60fps but still look fine to the eye.
well the m1 pro line up has 120 htz screen, but m1 air and 13 inch still have the 60 htz

Apple impressed me once again, I thought the MacBook Pro would be better as the Apple chip is still in beta.
It's not in beta lol, it's fully released on a bunch of products (almost all)
I wouldn't say it's in beta anymore the roll out is pretty much done. Rossetta really saved the day for the M1 the transitions been really smooth

my core i5 quad core on 1.8.9 is good! even though I don't play 1.8.9 often, but the times I do, I always have 60fps and doesn't change throughout the world, and loading chunks, with 32 Render Distance, I would have 28-56fps. To be honest, that doesn't change on 1.18/1.19.
btw if this matters it is a 8th gen and 16gb of ram I think
even more info since im dumb, 1tb storage core i5 7400 8th gen :)

Actually if u lower render and simulation distance, turn the graphics to fast and disable the smooth lightning u get more fps
it will, but since , the macbooks are not some lower end laptops, a little stress test is to be conducted

This isn’t the best test because if you have an antivirus like mcaffe like I do which it is always running then you’ll get lower fps. Another factor is when you update your computer. And what other things are running. Because I have a 2019 16” MacBook Pro With Intel UHD Graphics Intel i9 16GB of ram I only get 60-70 for in minecraft but it’s actually really smooth.

honestly if you buy a mac even for gaming you have done something wrong. you cant even get other os on it and its os heavy bottlecaps its m1 and it also over priced :/ if they fixed the bottlecap it would actually be worth the price and custom cpu
