    Another excellent video. Thank you for your honesty review using diesel. I've not tried it yet and now don't think I ever will. That motor screams through that pine.

    Another good vid Tony.
    On my OS27 i use washer fluid and when its not freezing use water with dawn liquid soap. Has always worked fine. I’ve never tried diesel and the belt drive is why. I also use the blue kevlar belts from Tractor Supply and they work very well only replaced twice. The second one was because i had a blade snap and rip it up.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  2 роки тому +1

      This new setup requires a 76” belt. I laughed when I went into Tractor Supply. That is the one belt the don't carry. 76”x 5/8” belt. I had to order it.

    Tony try adding a little pine sol also might help keep the pitch from sticking so much

    I feel your pain
    I'm in Florida and I cut a lot of yellow pine. Sticky stuff!! Somebody turned me on to cotton spindle cleaner
    You can get it at a tractor dealer.
    They use it in combines to keep the spindles clean. I use about a cup per 2 gallons. Keeps my blade clean and shiny. Hope this helps.

    Windshield washer antifreeze for the win. In warmer weather (your winters) it can be cut with regular w/w fluid with bug cleaner in it. Up here in Canada, we use w/w AF, or with some frozen woods (pine,etc) sometimes you can get away with running the blade dry. Keep experimenting, you will find something that will work best for the hot rod mill. Sawing with Sandy has a series of videos where he tried different fluids. Great videos.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  2 роки тому

      Thank you. I love to watch Sawing with Sandy. He is a cool guy. We have worked on several different lubes now, and We do very well with Oak Dry or with just a drop of RV antifreeze. Pine seems to do OK with RV antifreeze and a few drops of soap in it. I can feel warmer weather around the corner. We have to get through a few more cold snaps. Over all, our winters are mild.

    I use straight windshield washer fluid with my woodlandmills sawmill. I lived in new concord ky and just used it yesterday after 20 degree temps the night before. The fluid has alcohol in it that helps keep the tar off the belt

    Hey Tony. I heard someone on another channel that he ads Simple Green to the washer fluid mixture. He has a Norwood mill. He claimed that it helped to keep the pitch build up off of the blade. It just might work. I'm glad you got that mill working for you. Tim

    When I don’t use diesel on pine I use pinesol it works pretty well, I see where Nathan Elliot was not going to use diesel anymore because of the smell, it does get on your clothes, my wife got me a heavy duty apron that I wear and it helps out tremendously, keeps the saw dust and sap from getting all over me

    You can chain or strap the auger up to the post hole digger frame, This will keep it from flopping around or jabbing into the ground when moving.

    dawn soap plus half/half water and winter wiper fluid works well on our canadian pine. I've seen some use half winter wiper fluid and half summer bug be gone fluid as well. Of course that depends on your low temperature, may need to adjust the ratio

    I see nothing wrong with your operation Tony. Until you get a little more established, and some more security you don't need people coming on your property. This crazy world we live in people will definitely take advantage of ones generosity. It happens everyday and seems much worse during hunting season.

    I find the jawen useful when you explain why you do things the way you do. I have learned a lot from watching your channel. Thanks for all the videos. Do you always cut green pine? We have a lot of ponderosa pine here that is dying due to the drought. I am wondering if it would be useful to cut up on a saw mill.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  2 роки тому

      We have always only had green pine. From my limited understanding, Souther Yellow Pine is one of the stickiest woods out there. Build up is bad.

    It's hard to mill lumber with grey market equipment. To successfully cut good lumber you need a mainstream sawmill like a Baker or a Cook. Those are real mills. You will always have troubles with those cheap mills.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  2 роки тому +1

      I appreciate your point of view typed out on a grey market phone or computer drinking coffee from your grey market coffee maker. It was enlightening. Cooks and Baker are great-looking sawmills, but they were beyond my price point at the time of purchase.

    Try some vegetables based chain and bar oil the detergent in the fuel eats the belts

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  2 роки тому

      The last belt lasted 6 months in diesel. I think more horsepower and heat helps it along. It is RV antifreeze and soap for me. It is harder to clean up, but I can not keep replacing belts every day.

    You can run diesel you just need to only put a drop every couple of seconds. Do not let it run. I run a wood mizer but you can get a lot from cooks saws that is made to run diesel. Your problem with the diesel is you are getting too much of it on the blade.

    I run -20 degree washer fluid in my Woodland Mills HM130MAX and cutting pine it keeps my blade clean. Must be the alcohol in the washer fluid. I do not add any soap. I get my washer fluid at WalMart and it is -20 degree winter regular washer fluid and not the deicer version.
