Well, that's why humans started sleeping indoors lol. Sleep outside and you're still subject to predators. That's why they tell you not to sleep in tents in Africa, Hyenas will tear them open and pull you out.
@@alexy112392 Im guessing Eagles were more interested in protecting the eggs than a full all out fight against the owl, which would potentially endanger the eggs.
Her expression after the second attack when she looked directly into the camera, was absolutely heartbreaking. I've never seen an eagle look so feeble!
You can see what is probably the the wing at 44 seconds. I don't think any other bird could do this at night, as they couldn't see any better than the eagle. Night time nest raiding is common behaviour for the GHO.
Red tailed hawks are the same way. Ive seen a lot of them attack owls. Neither should be hated. Hawks/eagles are only king of the day skies. Owls are king at night.
Owls can see like the alien predator at night.eagle cant see too good at night.they are day predators. Bats and owls are night predators. Te eagle uses the day as a weapon against its prey the owl uses the nighttime as a weapon for the day predator.
Owls only objective was to scare her off the top of her chicks so he could grab one. You can see her periodically centering them underneath her with her beak. Even frantically at one point. Her final instinct when she was unsure of the owls position after it swooped was to go to tuck in her chicks. She would protect them with her body.
ive seen plenty of videos woodpeckers and great horned owl attacking others nest the saddest by far for me is peregrine falcon getting their chicks taken and eaten alive by those freakin owl
One of those eagles probably attacked the owls nest by day...as you can see some sort of owls feathers or wing. The nite Owl is getting it's revenge by night fall. Eagles soar the sky's in the day.
What an amazing video! I love how the Eagle husband steps in front of the Mrs. and the eggies! Wow! Actions speak louder than beaks here! He clearly was sending Mr. Owl a clear message! Before you get to them you are gona have to get over my Eagle eyes and body! Wow! what a protector! so sweet. My question is where are the rats and the mice to keep Mr. Owl busy?
I would like to know if the light on the nest make it easier for attacks. I'm sure I have seen enough especially when the owls attack those eaglets in the nest they're not moving. Thanks anyway for the footage.
These cameras do not use the visible light spectrum for night vision. Owls just happen to have superior vision in low light conditions, which is why they do so well against other birds of prey.
Obviously, you know nothing about owls. It doesn't matter to them whether it's night or day - and whatever bird it is. They're total bullies in a sense.
These cams are dangerous for the nesting birds and the eggs/nestlings. They emit low frequency tones that can be heard by Owls, and the infra red light that the cams use are picked up by the Owls. They essentially enhance the Owl's already excellent night vision. Tons of Osprey nests have been destroyed by Owls with the aid of nest cams. The bald eagles are much better than Ospreys at defending so they may survive Owl attacks. The Osprey though are not good at defending and have no chance against Owl attacks. The humans are doing their very best to make the Ospreys extinct.
More than an advantage. Their night-vision lets them dominate at night. These eagles were rendered helpless. An owl wouldn't even think about messing with these two birds in the daylight! Another weapon the owl possesses, is almost silent flight. It's bad enough that the eagle can't see them coming, but they can't hear them either! The owl sacrifices speed for that trait, but when you have stealth, who needs speed?!
Finally I get to watch a video of where mom and dad are present and ready to put a ass whooping on that GHO and honestly that owl is stupid because I just watched a video of a hawk attacking a nest and the mom grabbed the hawk and killed in it a few minutes even by herself that owl 🦉 has no chance against a bald eagle 🦅 I seen the aggressive and aggression these animals display and you can see in this video neither mom nor dad are playing these babies might have a chance of survival even the owl I think knows this is a bigger task then he anticipated to much work for a chick or egg 🥚 good job 👏🏻 mom and dad protect that nest
Your leaving out a few factors "white magic". Owls have tools that no other Raptor has. Namely, excellent night vision, excellent pin point location hearing and silent flight. The fact that you would call an owl "stupid", further demonstrates that you don't know much about birds. it also happens to humans, aka terrorists or rapists
The Owl has the advantage too due to night vision.

Shaking and shivering, but not defenseless!
You actually see fear...the eagle is shivering in fear they have to feel other emotions right ?
I can't say that I saw or heard the owl, but the behaviour of the eagles gives me reason to believe that there was an imminent threat.

Love owls. They are assassins/ninjas in the night.

I've got to admit... from the side eagles look quite fearsome. Head on though... a bit of an oversized chicken with a short beak.
I thought Eagle is the king of bird of prey! It’s strange to see an owl trying to take it on.

Eagles snatch owlets all the time. We have GHOs 🦉, on our property, and the male wiped out an entire nest of Osprey(chicks and mom) in a 3 day period.
Is that a dead owl in the left foreground? If so, then it would make sense that any remaining owls would attack this nest.
No that is not a dead owl. It's common for owls to attack eagle nests for territory reasons.

The Great Horned Owl can kill an Eagle. They have almost double the claw pressure of the Eagle!
Not sure about that. The heavier animal probably has the advantage. The owl has an advantage at night. The eagle has an advantage during the day.
