I have a question I hope you might have encountered in your huge bmw experience :
The power steering of my car (e36, 6 cylinder) does not leak, does not have noisy pump, but as long as I had the car (12 years) the steering effort seems too much. Summer and winter tyres are both 17 inch, I have tried running 16 inch wheels and tyres and the effort goes down, so I suppose my pump is just a bit worn. I have always changed the fluid every 2 years and also the fluid tank if it seemed to be gummed up on the bottom.
Do you know which type of power steering pump is the best option for 6 cylinder engines? My idea is to find one 2nd hand, give it to a specialty shop to rebuild it and the just swap it.
