Agreed
I think you’ve misread that story….
The moral of the story is actually to not judge people based on their appearance but by their character.
The ending is just a metaphor for showing/finding inner beauty not initially seen in appearance. The ducklings represent both people but also their personalities.
No, the point was that he wasn't ugly to begin with, he just wasn't a duckling at all, he was something else entirely, so it doesn't make sense to judge him by the standards of a duck. It's a moral about how just because you don't fit in somewhere, that doesn't mean you're worthless, that just means you're in the wrong place.
@@VeryPeeved not the message I got from it, the ugly duckling didn’t go somewhere else to find people who liked him, he just eventually became a swan and that’s when people liked him.

@Scott's Precious Little Account ?
Yeah, the moral lesson from the original was questionable.
“
Then, the bird who used to be the Ugly Duckling knew what had happened! He was no longer an ugly gray bird that wobbled when it walked.
At one moment, all the swans flapped their wings and took off into the sky. “Come with us,” one called back. “Take the lead!” So he flapped his wings fast and took his place in front of the whole flock. All his new friends flapped their wings behind him.
“Say!” he said, gliding and dipping through the sky as he sped on. “Who’s an ugly duckling now? Surely, Not I!”
“
The original lesson was basically “don’t make fun of an ugly duckling, because they might actually be a swan!”

true, idgi either

This sounds a lot like how the Grimm's version would go. It would be awesome to see some adaptations of those stories, the original version of Rapunzel is just waiting for your comedic touch.
Hans Christian Anderson: ...This is the last time I collab with you guys.
Nah man the Grimms were edgy, not deep.
Grimm's versions weren't the "originals". Grimm's versions were just some of the first written down. Folk and fairy tales were shared through the oral tradition. So these tales are likely as old as us telling stories. They were morality lessons and life lessons, and weren't told to young children for entertainment. They were told to teens and soon-to-be teens, as warnings for the dangers in life, and how to overcome the hardships that you will encounter.
@@corystarkillerRight and on point, until you overgeneralize with the last two statements. There were several types or modes of folktale for different contexts, and some were certainly told to young children for entertainment, or education, ideally both. Nursery rhymes in England, for instance. Many tales in various cultures were passed on by an old grandma in a small village, told to little kids gathered round, perhaps while their parents work or farm.
On the flip side, some tales had their oral tradition strictly among adults, like the more lewd stories that make up _1001 Nights,_ or the _Facetious Nights of Straparola._ Folk tales existed in every culture, and the efforts to document them began sort of in tandem with the creation of the literary genre of “fairy tale.”
Like Straparola’s in 1550, Charles Perrault’s 1697 collection _Stories or Tales from Past Times_ has a mix of old fables retold for high society (Sleeping Beauty, Cindy, Puss in Boots) and original fairy tales written by him for the purpose you mention, a warning: Little Red Riding-Hood is a moral imperative for little girls in the woods not to listen to or talk to strangers, men specifically-Be wary, girls, lest ye be ‘pounced upon and devoured’ by the wolf.
Grimm’s fairy tales were collected from a variety of sources, storytellers whose audiences were surely not all teens looking for advice about the adult reality they would soon enters. The transmission of these fairy tales was wide-ranging and often peculiar to the cultures in which they were being transmitted, or the culture whence they come.
Generally speaking, however, you are right that they were not mainly for little children the way they are today. Maybe not mainly for teens either, but broadly they were popular among the people.
@@TheCapedWanderer Nursery Rhythms shouldn't be thought of in the same way, as we still speculate on a lot of their meanings. Some are very obvious, and others it's a total guess. But no one is ever tries to suggest that they were purely for entertainment, regardless. Everything that we think of as fairy tales weren't for people younger than I said. Sure, there were some, like Rapunzel, which were for adults, but they were still warnings for life and morality tales. The majority were for the younger teenagers, because they were either gaining some independence from their family to do chores for the family away from their parents or were training for marriage/marriage selection. Even something like Hazel and Gretel's original meaning is a blurred line between many other tales, so even one that seems like it would be for young children, still might not be, especially with the Cinderella connection.
Even one like The Little Mermaid, where we know the origin, wouldn't be for younger children. The entire message would be lost on them, as it's about showing how great Christianity is, and how it's better than your animalistic abilities to ensure a mate. The youngest mermaid gives up her nomal communication skills, leaving only the "feminine wiles" to get the prince to fall for her, but she's ultimately not willing to murder, and self-sacrificies for the greater happiness, and being given another opportunity to gain a soul to go to Heaven. Getting into Heaven was the entire point, and having the prince fall in love with her, is the means of gaining a soul, instead of dying into non-existence. The ultimate task at the end is helping others for the remainder of her normal length of her mermaid life, and will gain a soul. It ends on the discussion of unaliving yourself as something that's not purely an evil action, and your soul could leave Purgatory, through doing enough good deads. None of that would be useful for a young child. It's all about the teenager who is finally gaining independence, warnings about life and morality lessons.
This is a whole new level of "I brought you into this world and I can take you out."

Firstly, you have been immortalized on my about page.
Secondly, I reply to these people because they have no replies, and, unless they've come back to check on their comment, they have no idea they've gotten a comment with so many likes. There are hundreds of thousands of comments on UA-cam with over a hundred likes each, and their commenters have no idea their comment was so popular, because they received no replies. By replying to these comments, people get to come back to a video they have likely forgotten and see their comments with so many likes. One interesting effect of my replies I've noticed is that every time I reply to someone, their comment has a sudden boost in likes, probably because UA-cam promotes comments with more interaction. Honestly, I think a good message can come from this, while it’s obviously up to interpretation, I’ve been looking through the comments here and have only been seeing replies about how depressing this is, but I honestly believe that it strikes an interpretation that can be given to the original story but in a much more profound and direct way
That being Individuality
The fact that the duckling that chooses to not doom itself is the ugly one is emblematic of its mental differences from its brothers that followed the will of authority blindly, yet those “sheep ducks” are the apparent “normal” or even “beautiful” ones, yet they die, and the ugly duckling is the only one who lives, due to their mental difference from the others, because of that difference, it took cow the horrific mother figure it had and got to survive, yet it’s still “ugly”, it sees its actions as horrid, as a mistake, in a way, it sees *itself* as a mistake despite making heroic decisions
And I think this can be translated over to the real world, I mean, do you think the people that invented fire, electricity, phones
Everything past our caveman days followed what everyone else did?
No. They had a vision, a vision that was likely bashed and hated by the general public because it was stupid or weird or whatever idiotic insults they threw, yet here we are with these modern inventions because just a few people decided that they would differ from the norm, that they would do something that is viewed as stupid
Yet that issue hasn’t stopped, people who differ from the norm are still abused and told they are not worth it, that they should jump down the waterfall and ultimately doom themselves just because it’s customary to do so
We should learn from the ugly duckling and the people who mirror it, we should learn to accept differences in people instead of being abusive towards potentially amazing people
That’s the message I see in this
that was the intended message of the original; all the ducks look down on the "ugly one" until it is revealed that it wasnt ugly or even a duck at all; it says to not judge a book by its cover and to accept or maybe celebrate (depending on the parents' telling) others' differences even if they offend you personally. of course most parents probably dont fully realize this and teach their kids that "its okay, look at the swan!" but thats not the point, its to offer kids their first plot twist and show not to judge people just by what they seem like
honestly i dont think this version of the story is depressing i think its just regular ol' classic shitpost schlock lmao; trying to analyze this version sincerely for 5 minutes reveals its a deliberate garbled mess, and little kids will most likely think the story is straight up boring and be so confused by the end that they dont even remember it except for that it was bad. This story is meant only as a shitpost and beyond that its meaning is void. Trying to look for anything deeper and you'll find a bunch of bullshit, including "mom never answers any questions and seems to be having a major psychotic break, continuing her monologue and going on tangents rather than answering her children" "hyperbolic abortion metaphor" "star wars anakin obiwan mustafar high ground you were my brother anakin i loved you" and also just being philosophically juvenile like "brooo you were empty space and then i created you, i did that personally like an artist paints a painting or an engineer builds a dam" [is never questioned, accepted as gospel by all ducklings] and "wow is the creation doomed to rebel against its creator? because uhh what has been given cannot be used the way its.. previous owner had intended??" [do i own my life? i thought i WAS my life lol... also wait am i contractually obligated to fulfill the will of whatever entity came before me? and someone owned my life before i did?? i hope they kept it in pristene condition then cos i had no clue i bought a used title...]
see what i mean? its trite meaningless garbage and its perfect that way
@@heheheiamasuperstarcatgirl8485 honestly i disagree
like... the mother duck IS spouting bullshit, but to me thats the point
to me its not really a metaphor for abortion as much as its a metaphor for _abuse_, and parents that try to have total control over their children's lives
the mother duck is saying meaningless bullshit because all she cares about is having control, and the ducklings believe it because... well, theyre ducklings. of course theyre gonna be easy for an abusive parent to manipulate.
and the part at the end reminds me of an abuse victim that's escaped the abuse doubting themselves, and going "what if what they did was actually a good thing"
"what was given cant be used in the way it was intended" seems like its about how its unreasonable to expect a child to perfectly live up to their parents expectations
[also, id argue that the duck mother DID try to own her children's lives by trying to have control over them - the ugly duckling is the only one that takes his life BACK]
...the anakin high ground joke though, ill give you that one, that is absolutely shitpost energy lmao
...honestly, the whole thing, maybe the abuse metaphor was unintentional, maybe it was intended as a shitpost
but intentional or not, the abuse metaphor IS there, if you know what to look for
but honestly, i wouldnt say this story is depressing
to me, its *hopeful*
what happened to the other ducklings was awful

How was the first book?
What the mother duck did not consider is that she was created in the same sense as her own offspring, and was there for of the mater and nature as them. By placing herself above her own flesh and blood, she was acting as a substitute for divinity when in fact only that which creates but was not created may claim the status of the divine.
Also, how did she not notice that one duckling was a goose?
I do not really agree with the part about the part where something that was created can not be divine, something that was created can also be divine, I think it depends more on if they are a mortal and how much control they have over reality.
@@voidbiteyou're probably using two different definitions of divine.
A created being cannot self-proclaim to be above other created beings because they both owe their existence to the ultimate or prime Creator.
