Australian here. Making fun of Clive Palmer is something of a national past time. 60 minutes was clearly trying to cash in on that attitude. I'm genuinely impressed that they did such a terrible job that for the first time in my life, I'm actually feeling like he got a rough deal for once. Well done, 60 minutes, for reminding me why I don't watch mainstream TV.
It actually felt incredibly uncomfortable somehow. Like when that one person at a party keeps making the same joke over and over but everyone's too nice to tell them to shut up.

Australian here: for context, Clive palmer is hated by most Australians and is known for exploting workforces and corruption. UA-camr Friendlyjordie does a video on him titled "fatty" which explains it better. Thats probably why the 60 min guy seems so aggressive against Clive.

My great grandfather survived the Titanic when he was a boy. He got lost and was separated from his family during the flooding and almost didn’t escape. Fortunately they reunited later during the disaster. I don’t think he’d take a second cruise if he were still around and given the opportunity.

Most folks in Australia think Palmer's a fair gronk, but there used to be a meal at the legendary pub called the Rochy in Melbourne, Australia, called 'The Clive Palmer Challenge'. Odds are good you’ll never see this Jon but the whole story behind Clive is nothing short but incredible.
I live in the same country he inhabits and have known about his nonsense a long time, but the depths it reaches make the Titanic 2 look completely normal.
For example in his early days there was an issue with beetles attacking sugarcane stalk here and he proposed a solution to the problem by *bringing highly toxic dangerous toads* into the country to combat them. It upset the equilibrium of the country in the most epic way possible as when they got tired of eating the beetles they began to eat all the native wildlife. Worse yet they were so toxic they had no natural predators and were Jurassic park science spliced to breed faster than they could eat.
Following this was an epic series of shenanigans which recently capped when the western state closed borders during The Veerus.
Clive decided “man this sucks here on the east coast I want to lie low somewhere quiet” and attempted to gain entry to the state, but their head of state said “nah no in or out until we good” and he flipped his shit. First he attempted entry by getting his pilot to sign him up as his *wife* and submit these hilariously stupid entry documents which the police there recorded themselves laughing at. When that didn’t work he opted for Plan C and *sued the entire state* attempting to wring money out of every man woman and child for I shit you not “emotional damage” unfortunately this backfired hilariously and those lucky bastards all got a couple hundred off their next power bill.
He routinely goes apenuts on social media and has a personal legacy in his state of being known not only as one of the dumbest men alive but also one of the most foolish and reckless.
The media once dubbed him “Chicken Palmer” and I think that’s the best descriptive term I can think of.

So you know Jon, people who book passage on the last active ocean liner, the Queen Mary 2, do enjoy getting dressed in the evenings. Many even think Cunard (The ship's owners) relaxing the dress code is actually a bad thing. The people who do this tend to have a bit of a love for that old style of doing things.

From what I can tell, Jon had to move between states the past few years. These videos feature higher production values which usually take more time, and perhaps it's also down to sponsorship deals to help justify unscheduled uploads.

To be honest, if there *did* exist a 1:1 remake of the Titanic that was 100% seaworthy with modern navigation and safety equipment, and where all passengers are expected to dress and act as if it was 1912, signed waiver and all, then I'd gladly give it a go. The idea give me Westworld vibes. Be a nice break from the chaos of the world as it is today, that's for sure.
With the movie and all, to me I feel odds are it would be a success. I can already see the "I SURVIVED THE TITANIC" shirts.
I think it’s interesting, too, but I think it would be interesting if they provided the attire for the passengers. I wouldn’t want to have to go to a tailor and be like “Dress me like I’m about to go down with the ship, fam”. Maybe if they took your measurements when you bought the ticket, and then your clothes are waiting for you in your cabin.
Kinda sounds cost-prohibitive now that I type it out, but I’d be surprised if these tickets aren’t at least a couple thousand dollars for Second and Third-Class cabins, much less the First-Class cabins
