Saturday the short skip was fantastic on the muppets. I am in scotland and spoke to a good view stations in england on an old amstrad 901 with its 4 watts .We were laughing and amazed lol .
Skip is nice! Especially when it is unexpected! Last week I spoke with a guy in the south of England, while sitting in my car here in Holland... that never happens!
There has been some good UK 40 FM skip on Sunday afternoons last couple of weeks. Reached Scotland comfortably from the South Coast on just 4 watts. Sound like they are just up the road. Ireland too and North Wales. Crazy conditions when the skip runs.
Hi FRED, ALAN FROM LUTON, just watched your video and yes mate you should be putting more videos out there love to see how its really done, lol. Brilliant stuff I find it interesting to see how everyone else is doing it, thanks again mate, just one thing got everything ready for putting up my ARIEL , except ladders coming from Amazon, Day 7, and still waiting, I'll get there.73 CT/48/70 💯🍻👍
Hi Alan. Once your up and running let me know and we will try and arrange an on air contact on a sunday. You will deffo hear me from Luton. If it works i will make a video for here. Just drop me a comment on a video.
I used to love my Antron 99 antenna back in the day …as a uk lady living many years in the Netherlands it was sometimes difficult to convince stations in the USA and Australia that I was in Holland….no longer active on cb but love your videos 🙂👋👍
Hi Fred, I use a boomerang window antenna on the 3rd floor and a manual antenna tuner. I have worked stations all over Europe. Ireland, England, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Finland, France, Canary Islands, Portugal, France and the list goes on. It is all a matter of luck. Being in the right frequency the right time. Not many people have patience any more
Always good to watch your videos Fred and tbf even skip clips are good as its nice to see whats coming in on the bands when I’m unable to get on the radio.. Take care buddy 73’s from Charlie tango 4171
Skips been wierd here (North Anglesey, Wales) for last week or so. Been getting into north europe at 5 by 9 upto 20 over with BBC Audio from my end. Lots of contest stations for the D-Day week. I'm just on a vertical and a Yaesu ft-920. But the "day" propagation has been terrible.
Hi again Fred I use to sit for hours trying to get a contact I gave up CB years ago but now retired and some time on my hands I'm thinking of starting up again. I live very close to the M6 and have a good line of sight to the south living on the top of a hill. Those Italians were running 1K burners back in the day. Thanks for another good video mate.
Great qso with mr roger 30/13LR076. Always love the sporadic E season when we got the change to work good old radio friends all over europe. Especialy the start give us always beautiful days with short skip to 26 div. 73's de 19LR014
i like the cb skip video's a lot. just letting u know! i bought a ae2990afs recently and straightaway it was new york, wiscounsin and ontario in the Netherlands. i love it! 😀
SKIP,......the great equalizer! My personal best is Leeds,England from Decatur Illinois USA on 7 watts. I had a Robyn 520,Antron 99, and a liitle 75 watt no-name amp that i didn't realize was dead until i went to turn it off. It was 2003 i believe .
I get your monologue. "Fred's on the radio again, it's bloody boring." Fortnight =2weeks. I think it's fascinating. That's how I was going to meet my Finnish Princess! 🔵⚪🔵😄
Over 1k views in 12hrs.. I'd say there is still interest Fred 😁 Just bought my 1st CB in 30yrs (and my 1st new rig!) on the back of one of your reviews. Bit bleeding quiet nowadays though innit! Mine was bought mainly for car 2 car (4x4s), family road trips and a bit of nostalgia if I'm honest😊. I remember on one trip sitting in the car in the Highlands of Scotland speaking to family member 200yrds away and had a Breaker come in on the side who was 40miles south of Amsterdam. Nothing for the Ham users but was a buzz in the car only pushing 4watts on UK fm 😂 Anyway, thanks for the great vids with interesting content Matey. Keep em coming 🍻
Hahah unbelievable, what a coincidence! I am Florian, the QSO the french station had that you listened to before you got contact to 30 division! It was like 1 or 2 days ago, I remember his rapport 😂 And I was also one of the commentators under your last video asking for more operating videos 😂 How small is the world Fred, how small! 😅 Skip is great at the moment and I'm on vacation in Portugal, my call sign is 13/31CP125, so if you catch it, give me a call! Thank you for the video 👊🏻
Hi Fred I’ve just taken down my imax 2000 antenna and replaced it with a sirio 827 ,wow what a difference,I would highly recommend changing your fibreglass antenna for a metal 827.I was talking to a guy in Croatia last night ,he was on 500 watts ,I was on my 9900 doing 50 watts and my radio report was 5 by 8. Really impressed with this sirio 827.I’m thinking of starting my own you tube channel ,just wanted to know how you felt when starting your channel thanks Fred .Ade
Im in san francisco are and i have reached ireland and the uk many times usually in the winter and spring time. Dx is not hard to do on 38 lsb 27.385 that channel is packed when the conditions are good almost always in the daylight hours. My furthest contact is to south africa from here in northern california on an 8 element yagi 45 feet up usong 12 watts ssb. This was last january 2024
Cheers Fred, interesting vid! I flashed my Quansheng UV-K5(8) with egzumer and have been scanning 26.000MHz to 30.000MHz USB in 5khz steps for weeks and heard nothing. I bought a really long 27MHz telescoping whip that's I think a 1/10th wave (it's a bit over a metre long, like 1m 10cm). Is it just that the flashed Quansheng is crap for this kind of DXing or do I need an external station master antenna (I am on the 6th floor so I have 60 feet of elevation)? I'm in Ukraine, maybe it's ruZZian EW jamming, haha. Maybe the skip conditions here are not quite right yet here too, it's averaging around 20C give or take lately.
Hi. I spoke to Ukraine a while back so i dont think its jammed. An outside antenna on a balcony should work well. I would try a mobile whip around 1.5 meters long. Wishing you all the best and safety for you and family.
what CB radios are completely legal to buy and use in the UK now Fred. I'm thinking of getting something new for my self, Must have SSB AM/FM. Any info please.
At the moment Fred we havnen't hit the 11 year maximum yet, this should be with us in 2025 then conditions will or should improve somewhat. The amateur bands are poor to be honest and can be blank or noisy..I am lucky being a licenced G7### ...I have a large choice of frequencies but some days I blank !!
Dont sit on one freq travel the band chance is there is skip both short and long distance personally i prefer the longg distance across the pond country jumping call it what you will but the thousands k is more fun than hindreds k local
Frid in the shed your UA-cam videos are awesome my friend

President radios are mostly UK legal. But not many others.
Nice contact Fred. Where did you get your call sign/Station identification from. I am a licensed Ham but don't want to use that on CB.
Hi had it a while now from the Charlie Tango forum.
WHat's boring about that ? I love it , many new stations dont't know how it works or don't know the CB language
Give us the day and time of the day please
It was around 10.30am. Cannot rem the day.

Yes still the same old radio blues on some days.
So a Dx to the states on FM ain't long distance.... hmmm fred
I think that would count.
Yaaaay!
Fred, 27.385 lsb between 1 pm and the time it gets dark there in London, with 200 watts will get you into the USA almost daily. 73
Hi. Yeah i could at the beginning of the year but recently its been totally brown bread over here.
