Martin was an absolute MASTER at flatland freestyle! I've seen him ride in june '86,these are memories that stick with you. The name of the song is 'Prove your love' by Taylor Dane.
Martin had a unique style and was totally into the technical showman ship back then he invented many tricks of which modern day riders do with out even thinking about it Dennis was inventor of rolling tricks he had then dialed before anyone knew how big rolling tricks would be but most important they just rode and had fun that is what is is all about anyway.
He came from that age of showmanship, not so much raw talent. All that flashy dance quality movement was cool in 85 but I'd say this was at the edge of change when it came to flatlanding. Dennis' riding was much more influential .
B G this is true but the hoods always respects the ones before them. If you read Agro mag, the hoods were huuugeee fans of Mike D. And a ton of other older riders before them.
No that is because this was the beginning of more advanced technology and people being fat and lazy. Now it is coming back strong and I still ride today as I did back then and never quit. I always have an audience when I ride anywhere, but I also do not need not one either.
A big challenge for the guys, particularly GT, was that they were toured like crazy and had to enter every contest in order to maintain their sponsorship. That left little time to practice and come up with new tricks. They also got burnt out. The 15-16 year olds like mat Hoffman and Dave mirra had all the free time in the world and the knowledge from guys like Martin, Eddie, mike d, etc to build on.
@@chrisgonzalez1597 this is what I heard as well as I didn’t see it in person, but I heard even by late 87 there were better experts and amateurs then they were pros. Of course the magazines didn’t show it as they had to show the people sponsoring that magazine, but imagine if social media was around then, I also remember Cont happened in June and not getting the results until November because that’s when they were in that magazine. Today you would have them in real time. I do miss the magazines and I think if somebody came out with another magazine it could survive maybe by monthly to start. Maybe charge $10 an issue plus the sponsors in the magazine and I think people like myself who like magazines would pay of course you’ll get some people complaining but they would complain regardless, but I think it’s a good idea that bring back the magazines.

oh man please can I see more bmx stunts from 1988... maybe if you weren't posting random texts on you tube on subjects you have no knowledge of you could come up with something else to post besides something from 20 years ago..thankfully the 80's and bmx biking were over a long time ago so you keep it up, maybe some clips of roller derby from the 70's would be a nice next move?

I know Martin invented the "cherry picker" but his run in this event was flat. Eddie and Dennis looked the best out of the videos I've seen.
