The fact that mirra was so happy to see his competitor execute an impossible move in direct competition shows the character of the man. No more demons Dave, but we miss you bud.
Dave was murdered. Research TED GUNDERSON and figure out whats really going on in society. All our leaders/heros/trend setters get MURDERED, or are forced to sell their souls. It must be exposed/stopped, people are dying left n right now and NO ONE is being held accountable at all because theyre all ruled Suicides or natural causes... im so sick and tired of it.
Matt Hoffman's gnar went even beyond BMX. His giant motorbike assisted quarter pipe antics inspired Danny way and Bob burnquist in skateboarding, something which eventually resulted in megaramp being a staple of X games. I think that it's also possible that the whole sport of FMX might not exist without Mat. He sort of invented and created the expectation of really big air at contests. Before Mat ramps were tiny. Just look at Mats world first flair for an example. Done at a contest , the ramp was as narrow as a modern box jump. Inspiration also goes the other way round. BMX street & park over the past 8 years or so has been heavily inspired by street skateboarding.
I was 18 years old when this went down. I watched this live. This brings back so many good memories. Amazing stuff. I still have my BMX bikes in the shed too. Makes me want to get out and ride. I have 4 kids to teach BMX to now. 👍 God bless!
I remember watching this live. I was sitting on the floor in my living room doing my homework on the coffee table. When he landed that No Handed 9, I freaked out. Even my dad, who knew nothing about BMX was going crazy. It still gives me goosebumps watching it.
Someone post mirras first run, I remember being there in person as a kid and his first run was absolutely off the charts. Best I’ve ever seen to this day
In the bmx world we are competitive but we are all friends at the same time we push each other to be the best at what we do and thats what makes bmx a excellent sport to get into
The only time miracle boy ever lost...rip Dave. Matt...you just absolutely crushed it thank you for being a dear friend to Dave and such an amazing competitor. You guys drived the sport and made it what it is. As a kid that grew up in upstate NY I am so fucking proud to have met you both....Fly high Hoffman!!

All respect to Dave. But I've always felt Matt should have gotten gold for that run. 3 walls and BOOM! A no-handed 900! Than the 540 and flair a couple walls later. Gotta remember that the Bosticks (X Game producers) call the shots for the ratings/narrative and don't always play fair compared to how competitions are traditionally run. Don't forget them making Tas Pappas stop skating/trying the 900 when him and Tony were both going for it in the 1999 best trick. It really could have been either one of them if things hadn't been interrupted. But that's how things go I guess. Rest in Peace Dave Mirra and Ben Pappas.

RIP Dave and K-Rob. A beautiful moment in BMX history, I miss when the commentators went apeshit and made it that much more awesome.
Right. They expect too much now and lack excitement.
Bc we were witnessing legends be born.
RIP Dave Mirra, one of the greatest
And rip k-rob.
Mat Hoffman is BMX! Unbelievable what the sports means to him. GOAT
I love the mutual respect these magnificent athletes have for each other, unlike many other sports. RIP Dave Mirra.

Ozamataz Buckshank He’s still alive
This is very common for extreme sports, this is another thing I love them for
Yeshua Nilkus no he’s not he killed himself in 2016
Mason Patrick When you bracket rip behind someone’s name, you’d assume that’s the person you’re referring to.
Any kid with a BMX in the 90's idolised these two legends!
Makes me wanna cry watching them. Great great times.
RIP Dave
