Hey beautiful people, I forgot to mention the actual protocol of the Wim Hof Method for those who need a reminder: 30-40 powerful inhales (hyperventilation-like breathing) Breath retention on the exhale (empty lungs) Recovery inhale and hold for 15 sec (full lungs) Repeat for 4 to 5 rounds PS: Don't forget to sign up for my newsletter to be ready when my short guided breathwork course launches 😉
I wanted to ask question that I am living in hot region we have hot days more than cold and during summer temperature goes above 45°Celcius and some people suffers from hot side effects so is it good to continue wim hof method during hot days does this breathing generates more heat in body or not???
Breath retention after a passive exhale. Wim insists on not forcefully exhaling completely before the breath retention. So, after the 30th inhale, let your lungs empty naturally, without forcing. Also, counting is there just to give us a reference, for our analytical minds. We should not fight the urge to breathe, but should allow the gradual and natural increase in lung capacity lead us. Patience and regular practice are the path leading to safe results.
I have reached the stage where I do 20 min of box breathing before doing 3-4 rounds of WH breathing, soon after waking & before shower. I find that it works best hone I'm sitting on the couch or armchair rather than laying down - lots of trial & error here! I do 30-40 breathes and extend the hold during the rounds. First round is 2:00 min, increasing by 15 sec for each progressive breath hold. I know when I have got it right - as the feeling of that tingling sensation, flushing through my body, from head to toes, is amazing! And cold shower for 58 days now. Some days are worse than others - i have egiotten to the point that as I'm arguing with myself, about how nice & warm it is - I switch to cold water only. And gasp!
i found that i was just going straight for the cold water to get a stronger effect in the water, effect i mean calmness of mind and focus, as long as my hands or feet dont hurt. my body wants the water when i look at it. when i talk about it most people stare at me in horror and dont say anything. i want to get back into horse stance , was doing alot in the beginning, breathing exercise an hour or so before water, but i still get cold, back to basics as they say
I am experiencing all those benefits. your title was just click-bate! Still happy to give you the view though dude :) Love the work you're doing! So important to share this knowledge right now :)

I try practising WHM for about 10 months now. No super powers, but definitely good progress in strengthening mental and physical health. You are providing some great insights and answers here, thanks so much! 🙏🏻
@Lucas Henriques I can confirm that you get more resistant to cold in a way of dealing with the cold mentally. I can go straight away into cool water or a cold shower without hesitation now. But that did not happen over night, took more like months. And I am not sure if I could handle an ice bath.

Biomechanically some peoples ribcage and mechanics around breathing are either stuck in an inhale or stuck in an exhale so telling someone who is stuck in an inhale to breath in more is going to exacerbate that dysfunction
Hey John, thanks for adding some context. In my experience coaching people in person is that the majority of them have too much tension or lack thoracic and scapula mobility. But I agree that there are persons who have other dysfunctions that won't allow them to use the rib cage for breathing fuller.
Thanks for the explaination. I'm just beginning to practice the Breathing. So you mean I can adjust the speed to my natural breathing speed? The Wim Hof video pace feels a bit too fast to me and I tend to get slower as it goes.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and came across the Wim Hoff method. It took a bit but I do cold showers now with no problem. This video will help me with the breathing method. You’re right, I was doing it wrong but can hold my breath 2:45 using the app. That’s only 3 sessions at a time. I e noticed a vast improvement in my symptoms not to mention a lot calmer presence now.
Great, great explanations and information. Thank you, Kitaro! I started daily breathing when Covid hit and have done it every day for about 4 yrs. I’ve had the usual immune system improvements - almost no colds, all allergy symptoms went away, etc. But the most notable impact was with my meditation. It helped to open up my internal energy, which now flows with greater ease and control. This really is amazing. Each day, it does take some will to do it though - it’s strenuous and while it’s partly relaxing, it’s also partly unpleasant. I can imagine beginners failing to stick with it due to the effort and will required to make it a daily routine. But to me, it’s worth it. I have noticed that my breath holds have definitely plateaued. Maybe it’s my age of 51, but I typically max out at about 90 secs on my last hold. I think I need to put more effort into relaxing my body and easing in, as you explained. But it’s tough when time is rather limited, depending on the day. Thank you again, you are a real inspiration.
Ive always wondered if youre supposed to close your throat and release tension on the last full-lung hold, or if youre supposed to hold open with your diaphragm
Ive been doing wim hof breathing for a few months now. After 3 rounds i have experienced some powerful visions. Intense energy through my body. After the breath hold and inhale for 15 sec it feel like a blast of energy in my head then flows through my body and out from my toes its a exhilarating feeling. Aftrr the 3rd round ill lie there and look into my 3rd eye for 30 min or 45 min. Waiting for an awakening. This breathing method saved my life. I now feel at peace with myself 🙂🙂
I do WHM about 7 month. Every day at morning and evening. And I feel energy blast after 1 minute of breathing. sometimes I do 6-10 rounds. Feelings like an electric current was connected to my body. I've learned very deep breathing when I was a teen through kung fu practice, but I think I did something wrong...I conditioned myself to only breathe deep and slow most of times, so unless I'm doing very intense excercise and my body does on it's own I struggle to breathe fast and fill up my chest. I have to force it and it a lot of muscle creates tension or if I do it relaxed it takes forever to fill up until I need to engage my chest too. Any idea?

Nice addition to what I knew already. My superpower that I got from Wim: No more catching a cold, since 2 Years now. Before, I catched a cold 3 times a year, lying in bed for days. It took me 1 1/2 years after starting with the method, but then it took great effect. THANK YOU! ❤️
Wow! This is really a game changer! I realized that I was doing my breathwork somewhat mechanically. Now I have been practicing it very mindfully for a few days and it became very different. I tune every breath to that particular moment. Sometimes I go slow, sometimes fast. Sometimes nose, sometimes mouth. I go not just by instruction, but by feeling. I listen to my body and mind and adjust accordingly. The experience is probably not as intense as it was in the beginning of my practice, but it's still very good. I am doing it now with curiosity, I dive fully into it. I feel like there is a room for improvement and I want to explore. Thank you so much for giving new life to my(and probably many other people's) breathing practice! 😊 Everyone who feels that he/she is doing it wrong or that it doesn't work, please, just keep practicing! You have to master it, it's a long time affair. Listen to your feelings, apply advice from this or some other video, take a class with instructor(if it's possible for you). And don't worry, don't stress yourself. You are doing it to minimize stress, not to amplify it. It's ok to make mistakes, if you acknowledge and correct them. Keep going!
How to overcome the cold shower, mainly in the Winter, when the cold water causes very intense pain on the head/brain? All other part of the body is fine, just on the head I feel like my brain is freezing...
It doesn't really matter. I mean, it's not a competition or anything. Longer breath holds can lead to better CO2 tolerance which improves your fitness and there is a hormetic effect with longer holds as your O2 (oxygen) in your blood drops below a certain level. This can have various health effects from better O2 intake, to more white blood cells and therefore a better immune system and also mental benefits.
I was looking for a video explaining the Wim Hof method to a friend that was short enough and thorough/deep enough. I stumbled on you, and I have to say : thank you Kitaro 🙏
I got my wife to try this and in the first 20 breaths she had a full-on panic attack. I have tried encouraging her to try again but she seems completely done with it. Do you have any advice?

Thank you for this! Upon finding this method, I’ve now replaced my morning meditation with this practice. It helps me feel awake. Still scared of the cold water but I swear I’ll find the courage one day.
The trick is to just do it. Just decide, turn on the water and walk into in calmly. Don't panic and breath slowly. Fight it for a while and you'll get use to the cold
Try to slow your inhales down just a little or gradually build up over the rounds (e.g. 1st round through the nose, 2nd round 50% speed capacity, etc.). Usually this helps. With more awareness you're better able to control it, so keep practicing.
In my opinion cold therapy is not for everyone. I tried this enough and I was satisfied, but having few fat around 13%, I feel I should respect my limits.
Yes, it's not for everyone. That said, you can build up cold tolerance. And I also have a very low body fat percentage (around 10%). Vasoconstriction (how well your skin shields you from the cold) and thermogenesis (heat/energy generation) through brown adipose tissue (brown fat) and intercostal muscles are far more potent indicators than body fat percentage. I have a video where I go deep on Cold Therapy. Maybe you want to check it out.
@@KitaroWaga thank you for your reply. So yes, I meant the amount of brown fat, when it is very few doesn't that mean less tolerance and less resistance and more risk of cold symptoms? I confirm that I've been enjoying the benefits (increased cold and stress tolerance!) Greets from Ticino 🙏

Thought this guy was saying ‘breast work’ for the first 5 minutes 🫠 I’m only around a month into the breathing and cold showers. I’ve noticed I’m way more chilled out now and my emotions are always positive. I’m really focused too. My Mrs gets angry and upset about little, pointless issues and I’m immune to the negativity now. We have a 6 month old baby so don’t always get a chance to do my breathing in the morning and once I’ve eaten I feel like the opportunity has gone then but I think I’ve only missed 3 days so far. I’m still always positive and breathe deep throughout the day. My cold showers are up to 2 minutes now and after the first few seconds I’m totally relaxed and smiling. I think I need to fill the bath in the morning and have my first dip. I’m excited. Take care boiz and gurlz. All the love, all the power
This knowledge is already deep inside us all. My experiences with good Ketamine sent me into auto pranayama breathing like a Wizard. Very advanced techniques came to me on autopilot. I ended up having a full blown Kundalini awakening by keeping myself clean for a few months and then having a micro bump of Ketamine and a glass of red wine. I went into auto pilot chanting and pranayamas… A 90 minute explosive experience beyond belief ending in Alien rebirth and a massive release of Nectar of the Gods from my Brain… Now that stuff was the real deal when I swallowed it.
I first tried Win Hof method breathing in January of this year, but it didn't become a true daily practice until about 3 months ago, and I have hardly skipped any days since then. A bit over 2 months ago I started introducing the cold showers, and it has now been just shy of 2 months since I last took even a lukewarm shower, I just open the cold water and nothing else for my entire shower, and I can't stress how much this plays a part in all of this. In those 3 months my wife and daughter have gotten sick several times, I haven't gotten even the hint of a sniffle. Even some of my allergies seem to have subsided. I haven't done the full ice-water Immersion yet, but that would obviously be the next step. I know (and fully respect, as everyone MUST) the rule of never doing this in water. But the past me that did freediving misses breath-holding underwater so much now, and every time I do the retentions I am reminded a bit of that time.

Thank you for sharing this homie!
I've been practicing WHM for 5 years and learnt a lot from you in this short video.
Liked, subscribed, on board with you brother.
Much love
Thank you, my friend! Great to hear!
What have you noticed after 5 years of WHM? Is the cold shower necessary?
@@epicipodmodz The cold is always a great teacher, no matter for how long you practice the Wim Hof Method. It keeps you humble, healthy and energized. I still do the cold shower everytime I shower.
@@KitaroWaga hey brother, I have had really bad test anxiety all my life. I am studying to be a personal trainer, and I failed this test the first time around. Now when I try to study I can’t do it without feeling extremely stressed. Is there any way I can incorporate WHM to my study routine? Or any advice for anxiety when it comes to schooling
Thank you Kitaro - this is really good advice and beautifully presented.
It changed my life. I’m just hear to see if I can get anymore out of it. I stopped getting ill ever and my anxiety is halved
Are you still doing it?
Amazing content brother! ❤️🔥
Wish you much love and wellbeing
Thank you, brother! Same to you
Thank you for this video
Glad you like it🤗
Thank you sir, you have really helped me define How to improve your breath work. Thank you and God bless.🦋❤️🦋‼️
Thank you for your nice words!
I’m 59. I have been doing wim hof and I am no longer sore from working out. I’m able to do much more.
It made me pee blood tho. That's kinda supernatural lol
I practice the breathwork for almost 3 years and still find this very helpful ! thank you Kitaro
Yes, I like your video. Very helpful information
Thank you 😊
Thankyou kitaro I have been having cold showers first then doing breathwork it’s the other way around will try it out
It's not a must to do the breathwork before a cold shower. But it can help to have a fuller experience 😉
Thought this guy was saying ‘breast work’ for the first 5 minutes 🫠
I’m only around a month into the breathing and cold showers. I’ve noticed I’m way more chilled out now and my emotions are always positive. I’m really focused too. My Mrs gets angry and upset about little, pointless issues and I’m immune to the negativity now. She wants someone to hate life with her but I’m too busy feeling fucking awesome!
I enjoy your videos....keep up the good work brother
Thank you R K
This knowledge is already deep inside us all. My experiences with good Ketamine sent me into auto pranayama breathing like a Wizard. Very advanced techniques came to me on autopilot.
I ended up having a full blown Kundalini awakening by keeping myself clean for a few months and then having a micro bump of Ketamine and a glass of red wine.
I went into auto pilot chanting and pranayamas… A 90 minute explosive experience beyond belief ending in Alien rebirth and a massive release of Nectar of the Gods from my Brain…
Now that stuff was the real deal when I swallowed it.
Thank you for sharing your inspiring story!
Thank you for your good work 🙌🏽 I’m learning a lot from you
Thank you Kobi! I do my best 😉
