Kirby was the one assistant that Saban got genuinely emotional about when he went to Georgia. Lots of respect between those two! Kirby learned from the best, and has now turned Georgia into the best. Thanks in part to Saban. Two great coaches!

Where's the argument against wishing the next guy much success? Nah, you have an irreplaceable asset, you better damn well recognize it. Sometimes just asking is a worthwhile investment. " What do you want " and " What I can do, self promotion recognized " Of course a person is not going to give up his sweat equity to the hired help, but neither are they.

I’d say NCAA is harder to coach you’re dealing with 18-24 year olds with all KINDS of emotions. Also having to basically rebuild a team every 3 years or less depending on the school and who’s all draft eligible isn’t easy but that’s my opinion

As a GA boy born and raised I have nothing but respect for Nick Saban. I thank him for being as great as he is. He will go down in history as one of the greatest coaches to ever do it...... and everything he is, is what makes Kirby Smart everything he is. So YES .... I thank Nick Saban for training Kirby Smart and for beating Us as many times as he did. Only “iron sharpens iron” ... Kirby Smart learned from the best. Thats why today he is the best. Thats why My DAWGS are 2 time Natl Champs

The media -- whether in the coverage of sports, politics, whatever -- has turned to the dark side and employed the smarmy National Inquirer style of reporting: seek out and report "the salacious," whether it's true or not. You can always retract supposed errors and misstatements - in small print, of course - afterward. And when it's a slow news day, go out and goad someone with a constant barrage of questions, all in the effort to harass them into a misstatement or leak of privileged information. After all, "loose lips sinks ships." Good for you, Coach Saban!

Look at all the assistants that coached with him that became head coaches (or became head coaches again) - Kirby Smart, Will Mushamp, Steve Sarkesian, Mike Locksley, Brent Key, Lane Kiffin. I’m sure I missed a few.
He gets paid $100k each time he touches the CC bottle, $250k for every time says the name CC, $500k for lifting the bottle and a full $1m each time he takes a sip. If he finishes the CC during an interview he receives more stock in Mercedes Benz.

Rob Guthery I agree Alabama earned it. unlike another team with one of the easiest schedules in college football for the last few years that have won a couple of championships. this year ranked 53rd. so there is 52 teams with a tougher schedule. don't have to take my word for it , look it up.

Im far from a Bammer but Im sure of two things after reading these comments. #1 The negative comments is from haters and #2 most of you are clueless. For the record, Saban had all intentions of staying at Miami. The reason he departed was because he wanted to sign Drew Brees and the brass wanted and signed Duante Culpepper instead, so Saban thought if that was how it was going to be and he would be overruled regarding evaluating football talent and what was in the best interest of this team to turn the franchise into a championship caliber program by a bunch of clueless snobs thats never snapped the first chin strap then screw it. So how about some of you get a clue. As for coaching, Im more than confident its much harder to be a college coach than an NFL coach. The expectations are more demanding and NFL players know the game. You dont pay a guy millions to teach him to play. Major diff tween two is NFL is played at a much faster pace.

The bottle wasn't used to explain Kirby Smart. The Bottle was given the opportunity to explain Kirby Smart had a reporter asked. Unfortunately, we'll never know if a reporter asked the bottle because the video ended, but I wouldn't put it past that bunch.

Kirby Smart has been part of 4 National Championship. Two with Saban as his DC (last time Saban went back to back) and two as HC with Georgia. No question Kirby learned a great deal from Saban and no question Kirby was his best DC.
3 as a head coach actually. Lost first one to Saban, and won back to back. Saban was spot on about Kirby

Nick is more than happy to entertain the press when they have good questions. However, when those questions come up at a point in the season when all of the coaches, staff and players are laser focused on winning and in comes a reporter with a potential divisive or controversial comments in the form of questions, then Nick Saban is having absolutely none of that and talks directly to their faces about it. I went to FSU and it was great that Bowdens assistants were loyal for a long time yet many went on to coach other teams .. I'm glad to see that Saban is having a great impact.. lucky for Alabama that they still get great replacements and the program still recruits well..
