A Tree KNOCKED OVER my BEE HIVES!! Texas Winter Storm 2023

  • February in Texas commonly brings our coldest storm. It didn’t go easy on us this time around, like usual. This time around, we had heavy rains while below freezing and the ice layered up on everything thicker and thicker for two days straight before melting. It was enough ice to break many of my favorite trees! Our area looks like a war zone due to all the addition weight in the trees. Thankful to see my bees flying again, post storm.

      Funny enough, for the most part the ones that fell were the ones I hadn’t pruned yet 😩

    Correct me if I am wrong that Africanised bee's will take flight ✈️ if the temperature is below freezing?

      That is incorrect. They are still a honeybee, just with different genetics. The cold affects them just as bad.

    Cold bees are angry bees. At least it was too cold for them to fly.
