Eric and DCA appear to be two of the nicest people around. It’s always a pleasure to listen to these two talk Spyderco. 😊
Can't agree more
I like how Spyderco is trying to hold and reduce price when they can while Benchmade is having drastic price increases.
Yeah, the pink bugout that was "inspired" by a mountain sunset is $200. Then the thin titanium folder (can't remember the name) is around $500.
@@skutchblobaum6539 Not like benchmade doesnt do it already. Look at their damn screws and springs for christ sake, bottom of the barrel crap
@@fireemblemistrash75 They're not perfect but at least they back up the product with a stellar warranty. Spyderco's warranty is garbage for the price you pay.
Also bringing new designs people want. Not just pretty new colors and a 600 hundred dollar knife.
@@stephenbarone4053 Stephen is correct, benchmade will replace a blade no questions asked. Spyderco has the issue of thinking their knives are midtech and won’t replace the blades because “that’s the blade made specifically for that knife.” It happened to me when I broke the tip off my s110v PM2. Started carrying benchmade and ZT after that.
Spyderco's Military 2 with compression lock will most likely be a home run for them, can't wait to get one in hand!
This might be the year I switch from a Benchmade fanboi to Spyderco. I love BM's design aesthetic, but Spyderco's philosophy of improving the functionality of their product while decreasing prices is becoming more and more appealing.
bench made = bro grade
Decreasing prices my para 2 and 3 have are over double in price.
You won’t go back if you make the switch! Start with a pm2-3 or shaman
@@bprice123 I've got plenty of Spydercos. Just meant the switch of them being my favorite brand
I started out with an Osborne 940 and I hesitated going to spyderco. Last year I bought a para 3 in m390 and I found myself buying more spyderco than Benchmade. I love their products and designs.
cant wait for the military 2! ive been stoked about that since it was announced. the bigger version of the pm2 seems like it would address most of my issues with it
Same!
@Sinister Deer ... Au contraire, the PM2 is a smaller version of the Military that was released in 1996 with ATS-34 Steel. The PM2 was released in 2010. So the Military preexisted the PM2 by 14 years. ... I've gifted a couple of PM2s in S-110V and M-390, but personnally, I never cared for the handle of the PM2. I could never get a good grip on it. ... I own a ton of one hand folders now and the Spyderco Military is easily my favorite by far. I own 6 of them. ... I'm looking forward to checking out the Military 2 with the compression lock soon too. ... Take care my friend.
@@martinmiller1087 the Military was completely different in case you weren't paying attention...different lock back then with the big whole to access the liner lock that is no longer there as well as the choil...the PM2 came with the compression lock from the start...the Military has been changed not the PM2...this is definitely a larger version of the PM2...not the other way around.
Syderco allways delivering. Allways improving. Eric allways the lovable knife nerd.
That Enuff 2 K390 and PM2 15v are allready on the list, those are must haves for me this year!
Good luck with the 15V PM2. The 15V Manix sold out in like 5 minutes if not less.
The Microjimbo is at the top of my list. That's the exact knife I've been looking for.
Finally we get the sneak peak of the Microjimbo!! Day one instabuy for me as I love the Yo2 but a smaller edc size would be perfect with the wharncliff blade. Would love to see it next to the Lil Native wharncliff coming out soon.
Same! I was just flipping my lil native in anticipation of the microjimbo
that micro yojimbo seems like THE sensation from spyderco. i would not want it as a defensive option, but this seems like the perfect urban edc folder
I so love Shot Show vids. Earlier today DCA with Joe Flowers now with Eric Glesser - I'm in knife nerdvana. The one thing that held me back from buying a Military was the liner lock. The revised Military 2 with a compression lock (and I'm thinking 15V) - I'm in! The Enuff 2 in K390 - I'm in! While I find Spyderco designs a bit hit and miss (mostly hit), I cannot fault their steel work. When I want to find out how a steel should be treated and perform I turn to Spyderco as a production benchmark. Sharp blades all.
absurd price on the lil temperance 3. i like the trend of edc fixed blades though
I got into the EDC fixed blade thing about a year ago and there’s so much out there in the custom market. Knives by Nuge, Box Creek, Joey Roman etc
100 bucks for a small fixed blade in 8cr? no thanks.
@@littlemouse7066 That's MSRP. It's listed at $70 on Knifecenter. Some might find that too high as well, but it's a little lower. :)
@@franticflintstone7999 sorry it's still too much for that steel.
@@littlemouse7066 The price of a knife is not based on just what steel is used.
Every spyderco I've gotten so far I've been pleased with. I really want a micro yojimbo, my yojimbo 2 is my favorite knife.
Thank you, Spyderco, for providing another cool option for cities with 2.5 inch blade limits: the Microjimbo. I will pair this with a Swiss Army knife in my EDC.
I totally dig that Military 2 lapel pin on his coat...I want one!
Ever since I found the world of Spyderco, I’ve never been disappointed, and I’ve never looked back. ✌🏻
Hopefully those magnacut salt native 5s will be coming soon ! I'm waiting to purchase my first native 5 until those drop
Oh damn that microjimbo looks sweet!!!
Spyderco apparently when it sharpens a knife on a belt it uses coolant so the edge doesn't overheat. I was watching a knife channel by a knife "expert" who was taking the edges on a Spyderco made out of CPM S110V to get past the annealed section from belt sharpening. A spokesman from Spyderco told him he was wasting his time and told him why. The UA-camr argued with him. The Spyderco spokesperson put up a comment with Spyderco's toll free number for anyone who wanted more information. The "expert" has since taken that episode down.
I know my K390 Dragonfly I bought for fine cuts in leather definitely did not have a soft edge. I buffed the edge using diamond paste on a leather strop and it took quite a while to put a mirror polish on it for cutting leather. It is the best leather knife I've ever had.
yup Spyderco's issues are not the edges, it's the damn loctite on the pivots and their baffling attachment to 8cr
@@ting280 Yes, their made in China knives from 8Cr, at least they heat treat them right according to a friend of mine. I ran his 8Cr blade across my fine India AO sharpening stone and it didn't dig in like most knives like 14C28N do. I believe Spyderco is the only one to ht 8Cr to over Rc 60 on a consistent basis.
I noticed Spyderco doesn't use any of the Scandi based steels like AEB-L, 14C28N or its brother Nitro-V. Those low carbon steels need to be at or above Rc 62, but who does that except custom knifemakers? Even at Rc 64 they are still tougher than most steels at 59.
@@MountainFisher
They apparently had ran into issues with getting some of those steels in the past. Lack of communication or something. Recently they’ve seemed to solved a lot of those problems and have been talking about it on their forum. They’re definitely still expanding their steel offerings from China and elsewhere with sandvik steels and equivalents.
An AEB-L Mule is coming and I’m forgetting some other stuff, but it seems pretty interesting and exciting from my perspective.
@@Dynotop1a Well I hope they ht it like a custom to at least Rc 62 and 63-64 would be better. These made in China knifemakers are not realizing low carbon steels need to be at least 62. I bought a Civivi 14C28N at 60 hardness they claim, made one cut through a cardboard box and there were shiny spots on the edge.
Rockwell C scale is exponential, but small accretion until it gets harder so 50 to 51 is 4% harder, but 60 to 61 is 5^ and 62 is 10.3%. I want that 10%.
I use the original Enuff serrated (H1 salt) as my dive knife. Amazing after 130 dives. Other dive pros have asked to look at it! However, when I search dive knives on the KnifeCenter website, the Enuff is not featured! I would tag these knives as dive knives; they really are that good.
I think the para3 in Magnacut would be awesome... I hope they deliver it soon... thanks for the Interview, Erik is such a nice guy and of of course DCA too...
The Enough 2 should have been called "The Bit More" because it has a bit more than the original Enough
To be fair, it is a bit thinner than the original.
Eric Glesser is such a nice guy.
I’m happy that the Military 2 is finally almost ready to hit the shelves, but I was really hoping to see more Magnacut reveals...still waiting for the Native 5 I pre-ordered last May.
The Counter Critter is interesting...I’ll probably pick up both a SE and PE, one blue and purple.
Other than those, I didn’t find a lot of the new stuff very interesting.
Love these videos! DCA , you are Awesome!
This may be the first year in a long time that I want one of every one in the lineup. Amazing designs and I love Sal's passion.
So stoked for the micro-Jimbo!
What Spyderco is doing with steel is above and beyond their competition. Very cool💯
Military 2 is an absolute must have for me. I'll start with S30V and probably wait until I can get one in cruwear or something else similarly tough, I find with my uses those steels hold a better edge than M390 or similar
Love the new Military 2, I'd personally love to see Spyderco make a K390 LW version as well.
Always nice to see an interview with Eric!
I'm actually super hyped for that Enuff 2 in K390 depending on stock thickness and if the scales are glued on.
Seems like a perfect companion fixie
Is there a Left-handed one?
Love those small fixed blades!
Spyderco, please update the Endura to have the same finger choil as the Byrd Cara Cara 2
I've never understood that... You would think it would be the same. And I actually prefer the 8cr13mov over the vg10 for my "work" knife but I contribute that to Spyderco's heat treat...
Yeah... I paid $130 over retail for my 15v manix. I've been very happy with it's performance
Love how all the other booth guys look super cleancut, while this guy looks homeless.
That’s a positive. Spyderco are the bad boys of the knife world, they’re absolutely killing it.
Funny how a crappy ball cap, can take away from a 5 thousand dollar suit, and thousand dollar watch
@@powersww1reset right?! It’s like your brain doesn’t even notice they’re there
@@powersww1reset suit maybe, but that g shock watch is only about $100.
@@smalls03 lol right on! good watch non the less
I have two Spydercos a smallfly 2 and a rock jumper! Both fantastic model. Y'all's FRN bidirectional scales are the bees knees!
Are the military 2 scales compatible with the para 2 scales?
Where can I get a Spyderco cap? 😻
That Yomini is sweet, definitely getting one of those
Enuff 2 should have been called "More than Enuff"
Yeah they missed an opportunity on that one.... and then next's year upgrade could have been the "Way More than Enuf".
I generally buy one mid tier knife per year and I’m thinking that micro yojimbo will mine in 2023 😍
Been curious about this design for years but didn’t like the large sizes of the other options.
I'm stoked for that Military 2
I really like the looks of the microjimbo. I do miss the hollow grind tho.
Spyderco the best edc knives ever!!!
SpyderCo is the Best.! But we don't get much of it in Australia, when it does it cost a fortune.
I get annoyed at the 35vn etc snobs, S30V is a great steel. I have been pining for a compression lock military, one will be in my collection soon!
Great Product, Just Keeps getting Better ! Blade geometry! Heat 🔥 Treat ergos ✌️👍Best of. Show 😉
it would seem that the manner in which the steel is processed ( forged , cast , sintered, directional solidification ) and the subsequent heat treating processes affect the criteria ( toughness , edge retention , durability ) you've selected to evaluate more than just assigning the alloy preference.....these Spyderco guys know the processing is the key ....
Love that fixed blade duo!
The compression lock is seriously good. I don't liked the axis / cross - bar style locks for relying on flimsy internal springs to keep the bar in place.
Eric just seems like such a pleasant dude haha. I’m not a “big knife” guy, but when that Military 2 comes out in K390 I’ll be grabbing one for sure. Had a Grey/Cruwear sprint Military way back when and really enjoyed it.
Edit: Fine. I guess I’ll snag a 15V PM2 too I guess lol. Let it be known I HATE that they’re sprint runs though. Can’t stand that business model at all.
Edit dos: And a Micro Jimbo… Spyderco has the most models at Shot Show that I’ll be picking up out of anyone.
Damn, I want one of those Military 2 models. But I’m getting a Police in K390 first.
I got that one about a month ago. Beast of a knife!
Any magnacut?
Whoa! DCA raising his watch game with that awesome Seiko Tuna!
That micro yojimbo in lightweight would be Noice! A full size lightweight as well!
I have a Counter Puppy-my first Spyderco!
Getting that new military.. I never wanted one because the liner lock.... I'm about to get that military 2 though
Yoo that baby Yojimbo is some killer edc literally
Spyderco is probably my favourite knife brand
Microjimbo i need this in budget range def
I want that pm2 4 inch blade in s45vn
S45vn is incredibly sharp out of box from Spyderco…not sure why…but slice phone book paper with it and compare to ANY supersteels and it’s incredible…alien like…excellent. Great work Spyderco 👏👏👏
I have a spyderco hunter from the '90s and I've lost one and broke one during the '90s can't remember the models but they were before the polymer/G10/micarta scales - the folder blade shape is too redundant and not that useful for me
A humble request:
Persistence lightweight S35VN fully serrated in several colours. The 4 way clip is still an excellent offer!
Where can I get the spyderco pm2 pin on your suit?
Please make a Magnacut Paramilitary 2 with all parts (bushings, liners) made from very corrosion resistant steels. It would make for close to the perfect knife
Spyderco makes some really great user knives!!
Would like the microjimbo in FRN scales one day...
The micro jimbo, lol I want it… I want a wharnie delica too. But that really looks nice
S90V peel ply carbon fiber Military 2 is my new grail knife 😮
So glad I've just picked up the liner lock Military, before they discontinue it,, 😁,, this new one is not as good imho. 👍
Both of these gentlemen are sporting some killer attainable watches BTW! Great set of knives, the Millie 2 is definitely in my future!
I would love to see a Canadian belt knife from spyderco
i hope they made a spyderco m2 tanto version in the future....
I want a larger version of the dragonfly. Maybe a 2 3/4” -3 1/8” blade. Lightweight with a compression lock….do it
Curious to see the price of the milly 2 here in Italy, recently prices of spyderco rised like crazy and some models reached the price of italian custom made folders. I love the company so is sad but I'll not be able to afford it anymore. Surely Italy is not a big market for them so nothing to be worried about, maybe.
How many are you going to put out? It's like the last few days there is new video.
Some nice things going on with Spyderco. But I still don't like the compression lock.
I am very excited for the Military 2 pre-order to get into my hands. And this is reveal has so many other things that I want as well. Great Work Spyderco.
Oh that clip pointed fixed guy at the end, how soon on that one?
We need to see more LC200N in the mainstream lines.
Para 3 in s15v would be nice
Absolutely superior
I want the new military 2
I love old cold steel knives made befor gsm took over. That being said ....my 3 spyderco knives are getting more pocket time
that military 2 is sweet
Slysz bowie in magnacut!
The best thing in the video.......Eric didn't cut his finger this year!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Micro Jimbo 😳👍🏻
Eric is the best knife maker in the world. Long live spyderco
Hey DCA are y’all going to interview some smaller makers or just the big guys?
In my experience their ambition is to interview everyone.
At shot show there aren’t very many smaller makers, shot show is more about the firearms industry,
I'd like do have one of those mats.
Spyderco has been my knife of choice for at least 20 years. And every year that choice becomes more justified.
Spyderco please give us those last 2 fixed blades in a better steel...a tough stainless would be amazing
Still no sign of the Native 5 Salt in MagnaCut. Shame.
Ooooo. DCA’s little “nudge nudge wink wink” almost certainly means we’ll see a cru-wear and smooth g10 military 2. How exciting!
Drop dates on v15 products
Yesssss another military, can’t wait
Dying to get ahold of the new Miltary!!
The Glock of knife companies. The same stuff but slightly different.
Well they’ve been perfecting pocket knives for over 40 years. They produce what works. I think civivi is who you are looking for.
DCA, fam, you gotta stop talking over people in the middle of their sentences. There were a couple of times that both this gentleman and the lady from Benchmade got flustered up. If you have a question, or want to clarify, wait for a break in their speils instead of cutting them off. Please.
I didn't recognize that at all, just two guys who were both obviously excited and having a good time. It's not scripted so it isn't paced like a studio video.
@@murd0c6 I love DCA but he sometimes does have a tendency to want to do the talking for the reps.
