The harmonica player is Pat Bergeson, a highly rated session guitarist in Nashville. Search for Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Guthrie Trapp, Bryan Sutton and Pat Bergeson to see three videos of them absolutely killing it together
So glad the version with the full intro is back on UA-cam. That's part of why I loved this video, the way Jerry and Chet go back and forth is pure gold.
From the back of the theatre comes a low gravely voice that says “it ain’t got no gas in it!” To which Jerry and Chet reply “thank you Carl, you’re absolutely right!” 😄😉 Wish I could have seen these two legends live, but very grateful they live on through this outlet.
I also know Chet was a generous and magnanimous person and liked to work with lots of players/singers. Whether one is better than the other is probably up to personal tastes. No doubt those pickers are in a class of their own.
Went to sleep with UA-cam playing a mix from my line up tonight, woke up at sometime after 1am to some of the best music. Russel Malone just followed Robbie Robertson. It just keeps getting better. Throughout this mix awesome comments from people around the world. There is good out there with music bringing us together.
My older brother Don got to be good friends with session guitarist James Burton and James told the story of being in the studio with Jerry Reed one time and the Jerry chased James out into the parking lot and put him in a headlock and told him that he couldn't leave until he showed him how James did that guitar lick the Jerry really liked.
Why do people insist on complaining about new music when they put no effort in to finding good music among the thousands of new artists. There are great people out there now. Look up josh turner guitar on UA-cam or billy strings
I saw jerry about a half a dozen times through out his career. You nailed it when you said pocket. The man was all about establishing an incredible pocket when he played. One of the times I saw him was in the late 80's and he came out with just a telecaster and he played the first 30 minutes with with just him on the guitar and some of his band singing background vocals doing gospel stuff. I was blown away. Not enough people realize just how much of a genius he was on guitar.
when I hear Chet play ... I now that the world is still a GOOD place. If there isnt a GOD ... then who created chet / Jerry and this music .. here I am tapping my toes and fingers missing the hellout of CHET ...and Jerry too ! repeat # 8 ... God almighty I miss the hell out of these guys ... 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😃
When a man and a woman love each other very much they sometimes make new humans called babies. That is where they came from. Then they worked very very hard to tefine their craft. Mystery solved. No sky daddy needed.
Jerry Reed is but Jerry is right. He’s father- in - law is better, and I don’t know who that harmonica player is but iv got to say that he ain’t no slouch.
too overdone all you need is one simple guitar and an unaffected voice. these are good old boys though. it could have been worse they could have had roy clark freaking over a nice simple little tune.
Just a joy to watch talent like this when accompanied by the wisdom to not take itself too seriously.
Damn great statement. ❤
@@tdav225he hoped it would have done better…..
Jerry and Chet as great as ever but also kudos to that kid on the harmonica.
Ralph machio the karate kid
actually he plays too much for my taste. I rather hear the guitar fills than his playing, especially from these two icons.
The harmonica player is AWESOME!!!!
Who is the harmonica player?

It’s fun to be able to see these great men just fooling around and then break into incredible music without a hitch
Chet and Les Paul cut a wonderful album in the mid '80s, called, "Chester and Lester".
This rendition should have a 1,000,000 views
Thank the Lord, REAL music! Boy were these two great together.
Don’t forget to give some credit to the young man who’s playing that mean harmonica. 👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
Jerry was one of the best. It's great that he was here with Chet. Just great.
Jerry and Chet were greats, and will be missed. Their music will live on…. The harmonica player nailed it!

Jerry Reed...........what's not to like. A good ole boy's good ole boy. RIP Jerry. And Chet's no slouch either.
simply pure class - takes your breath away
I believe Chet saying Jerry was better than him. The best finger picker to ever live. RIP Jerry
I also know Chet was a generous and magnanimous person and liked to work with lots of players/singers. Whether one is better than the other is probably up to personal tastes. No doubt those pickers are in a class of their own.
Jerry had soul for miles and miles.
Wow, what a treat! Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed! Made my day.
I bet Bob was super pleased when he heard this version of a song he wrote inspired by folks like these two making music from their homelands.
Chet was at his peak and Jerry was already sick. But the show must go on and it did. God Bless them both!!

Two masters jamming. I want more.
I gave to agree.
I've heard maybe a dozen variations of this song- each one a delight including this one.
For me the best one.
This tune sparkles just like the beautiful ladies dresses. Great job by all and looks like you’re having a lot of fun.
Two of the best ever. Jerry Reed used to win world guitar playing competitions where he'd practice 8+ hours per day for months prior.
I come back to this about once a month.
You just don't see talent like this anymore.
Jerry and Chet did at least two albums together. They're good!
So beautiful, great to see talented happy people at work ;)
Love it!❤️
Jerry sets that deep pocket from the first note. Nothing like this today…

If this song 🎵 doesn't bring you to tears 😭 you ✨ have no heart 💔..I miss you daddy.
Hes so great !
that was.... awesome
I got to see and hear him perform live in NYC. At Town Hall sometime around 1965?
Badass harp blowin' brother 👍🇺🇸
Great music coming from the best
Can’t beat it
Who the heck is the harmonica player?…he’s extremely good…
And totally ignored as he rips very sophisticated solo lines
Pat Bergerson; played in Chet's band for several years. Look him up; see what he can do with a guitar!!
How can ya not Love Jerry Reed?
Awesome
Cheers to a great bygone era 🍻
Maybe in my next lifetime or two I will play half that good
Nothing like this today what a shame
Might he, I mean yes he would but it’s mighty fine! Playing and listening to guitar. It is just great.
Jerry was not in great Health round about this time. Chet & Jerry good old down home picker’s. RIP boys❤️
I'm a big Braves fan also, Jerry and in the nineties they showed the mets. Jerry and Chet makes a good team.
This is a higher power.
Them there is some certified guitar pickers.
It just doesn't get any better then that.....thanks
Молодец.
❤Чету Аткинсу
I knew Chet could pick but I didn't know Jerry could!
Играет😂класс.
I love how they take a folk song and turn it into country twang.
Way to go Jerry with the Braves cap
Russell was a good friend..
Who plays the harmonica?
I'm thinking it's Fingers Taylor.
Thanks.....he was a terrific harmonica player.
Pat Bergeson , great guitarplayer too !
Does someone know when this was recorded?
Baby Pat Bergerson!!
Bob Dylan was like a rising tide all Boats were affected.
Playing on Nylon Strings, don’t see that ever anymore.

Well, I don't think Darwin could explain the accidents that had to happen to produce these kind of pickers.
His momma, his wife, the Snowman
the only 3 people that called Chet Atkins "Chester"
this is probably how Dylan heard it in his head.
Jerry wrote for Elvis!
+5 points for the Braves hat
Unfortunately classy musicians like this are a thing of the past.(Apologies to the handful of true talents we have left)
No mention of harp player?
It’s hard to contemplate Chet had a second career. Chet was an executive at RCA Records in the height of the corporation’s Nashville recordings.
His “godd” friend?
If you watch carefully you can see that he put the cord in and pull it out partially so it doesn’t work.
I wish jack Richardson could have heard this.
Written (co-written?) By Jerry Boonstra.
3:25 Chester...
There were no finer two.........
Why doesn't Chet make them guitar faces like the blues crowd does?
Who’s on harp?
Pat Bergeson. A long-time Chet accompanist. He can play guitar as well as he can play the harmonica.
Jerry Reed is but Jerry is right. He’s father- in - law is better, and I don’t know who that harmonica player is but iv got to say that he ain’t no slouch.

Like these guys but they kinda buried the original song with their shenanigans 😢
Than don't watch
This is AWFUL.
awful damn terrific!
Unreal talent
Jerry was a GOOD guitar playe
