Country girls aren't the same as the Femi-N@zis we see a lot of today. But i get your point, Jerry Reed was one of the best. And yeah, i know that i respond 2 years later.
@Allyn Howellwrote: "Now everyone pretends they know what you're thinking." Great sentence, I'll remember it and quote sometimes. Peace of true wisdom, I guess.
I had the great opportunity to play for a Southern Gospel legend by the name of Wendy Bagwell. Wendy told the rattlesnake story. He and Jerry were good friends. My brother and I played and drove the bus for Wendy. Wendy had a meeting with Jerry the day we returned from a week long trip. Wendy invited us to go. It was such a great honor not only to meet Jerry but we got to do a couple song jam with him. The last time we got to see Jerry was in our hometown. It was an outdoor gig. It rained and they went to the bus to wait it out. We got to go visit for a bit. We sat there and didn’t say a word after introductions. We couldn’t speak for laughing. He had some of the best stories and funny! There will never be another like him!!!
Love Jerry. A great artists and person. There will never be another like him. This style of music is dieing out as these marvelous people pass on. They were more then just performing , they loved what they were doing, not just a way to make money. You are missed so much .
In the 70s when i was littleton i saw him at the greeley stampede. Parents and friends laughing made me go up to get an autograph. I did and almost died. He saved me the people rushing the stage. Pulled me up there with him and made sure i was ok. I kept me until the crowd went away. Still have that autograph. What a nice guy he was. Never forget him.
Thank you Mr Thompson for writing this song and posting this clip. Jerry was so very entertaining. Too bad he didn't get to record this great little number. Rest his humorous soul.
He got thinner as he aged, then died of the very slow, agonizing disease of emphysema, at 71 yrs. that's a long time to smoke those hated cancer sticks. I hate Cancer. RIP, Jerry Reed Hubbard, March 20, 1937 Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.~ September 1, 2008 (aged 71) Nashville, Tennessee, USA He was still smoking in 1971 too. so sad.
Hi Stevie, I can't remember why or how I came up with those words. I suppose Harlan Howard best explained it when he said, "I just held the Pen!" But thank you and so many other great people. According to UA-cam in just a few months over 27,000 people from the US and 74 other countries have gone to the trouble to go to UA-cam and watch Jerry sing my song.Again, "THANK YOU and THANKS to EVERYONE!" Tommy Thompson
Just remember this is not a anti Female song at all. It praises a woman for who she is and tries to deal with her one imperfection. Make um laugh and make me and Jerry smile.
I started dating the love of my life when she was turning 40. I was just a kid of 29. I'm here to tell you hell hath no fury like a hispanic woman going through the change. And I lived to tell the tale.
I had to listen to this 3 times thru because I was crying I was laughing so hard.. I dont see how Jerry held it together to sing this song... tornado with feet. I'll never forget that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
First time hearing this and I've listened to it about 15 times tonight and can't help but think I should learn and play it at my little cousin's funeral... I mean wedding next summer.
Of his many talents, Jerry's song writing was just something else. Tinged with his humour and character. And its a mark of his song writing, that he can write about anything. And have it come across well, to the audience
This is great i drove truck and i actually kept a little marked calander in my truck so i knew when not to go home,,my wifes dad was general Robert E. Lees great great great grandson so she proved those rebels were tough and crazy
Gonna sit down and preserve the lyrics to this Jerry. A few hours from now, I know I will have put a smile on your face when you hear in heaven that I sang it at karaoke tonight.
Little late seeing this; no excuses of ladies troubles; but thanks for uploading it. Being from the UK I'm not as up with all of Jerry's work as most; finding him through Smokey & The Bandit like most my fellow Brits; but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate what a great musician & performer he was. 'Amos Moses', 'Guitar Man', & of course the S&TB songs will always resonate with me, along with classics like 'Summertime', but this song just showed everything; his guitar skills, humour, & relaxed command of an audience to the end. Great watch. Thanks again Tommy.
Thanks for your comment John. Jerry never recorded this song.No one has. This video was taken from a taped Concert he did with Chet Atkins in 1991. I put it on UA-cam just to see what it would do. I am amazed how well it has done. I would really like to know where you heard it? I did contact the BBC and asked them to play it.I never have heard from any of the Radio Stations that are playing it If I knew who they were I would say, "THANK YOU!".because of the Radio Stations this Video has been viewed by over 28,000 people worldwide. So to whoever is playing it, "THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU !"
He did cameos in TV and movies as well. The late 70s movie "Hot Stuff", a Scooby Doo episode, and my all-time favorite role; the arsehole football coach in "The Waterboy".
I figured this was old school Jerry from his past when I first saw it! Proof he is one of the greats to just roll live with your material. Nice song writing skills to you too man... Props! Inspiration for me... :)
Can you imagine what it would have been like to go"bar hopping"with the"snowman and the bandit"?That would have been one for the Guiness book.RIP dear friends.
I wrote this song for Jerry in 1991. He really wanted to record it but it just didn't work out. This song has never been recorded by anyone, so if you or someone you know wants to record it, just let me know. Thanks for listening. Tommy Thompson wmtjt55@aol.com
Tommy Thompson I LOVE THIS SONG I MADE A BRACELET THAT SAYS PMS I GUESS.THATS MY HUSBAND N MY FAVORITE SONG EVER.THANKS FOR WRITING THIS SONG TOMMY THOMPSON. . THIS SONG MAKES ME LAUGH SO SO HARD.I THINK THAT JERRY REED DID A GREAT JOB SINGING THAT SONG . AWESOME SONG
Jerry's one of the few guys out there that could say that and have all the women agreeing with him--and even laughing about it. He was the coolest.
Country girls aren't the same as the Femi-N@zis we see a lot of today.
But i get your point, Jerry Reed was one of the best.
And yeah, i know that i respond 2 years later.
Back in the day, everybody could joke about everything
His silent laugh, as he thinks nobody hears it... Priceless
Wow, look, men and women in the audience laughing at a joke and having a good time without pretending to be offended! The good old days.
endocry That’s not real life man! The media makes it look like everyone gets offended just like they had Hillary’s psycho ass ahead in the polls...
@Allyn Howellwrote: "Now everyone pretends they know what you're thinking."

before the losers got woke
@@garrettthompson5443 got his point across, didn't he ? This ain't no spellin bee.

What a unique blend of musical and comedic talent he was

He's a funny man and a good actor. Sure miss him, I just finished watching Gator.
I loved him and every tune I ever heard him sing. And sadly, his wife died 2014.
This guy is the funniest singer ever. He went fishing on an episode with Bill Dance, I nearly pissed myself
a friggin' unkown classic tune, love it brother. he should have recorded it.
I saw Jerry play back in the late nineties. It was my first concert and he was great.
The best gone but not forgotten about never will forget Jerry Reed the legend
Merci beaucoup for this. Such a cool song from a cool guy.

Such a brilliant boy, loved by many, many native nashvillians and folks around the world.

I never wanted anyone but Jerry to record it. I wrote it with him in mind. No promises but this may be on a new Jerry Reed CD.
He did cameos in TV and movies as well. The late 70s movie "Hot Stuff", a Scooby Doo episode, and my all-time favorite role; the arsehole football coach in "The Waterboy".
