    Oh, you can start a fire with a hand drill. Yucca stem, the part that flowers, works really well. It's pretty physical, especially if your technique is bad, but I've done it. Use the edge of your hands more than the palm.
    I did it at a park demo on fire starting techniques. The Rangers said I was the first person they ever saw do it. They usually just moved people on to the other techniques after letting them try it. They had never got it to work either.
    Thanks again!

    Starting out looking familiar.. being born and raised in Florida myself.. got to look up a Dakota fire pit.. but looks like Suwanee River area.. nice.. but rough terrain.. going to watch and observe and see if there's any skills sets that I don't know. Appreciate you going out and doing it so I can learn from this video instead of having to do it myself right now. Although it does look like it was fun.. did I hear you say you used to ride the rails?? Cool.. my great grandfather was a train hopping hobo from Tennessee

      I got notification that someone named Joseph George E Jr had left a message.. but nothing to be found..?? Assume a troll who had nothing nice to say? Cause was only notified of less than an hour ago and there is no post.. but shows there was and even the beginning where the person rambles about they sure did learn something.. if the troll wants to try surviving the game.. let's roll..

    Awesome video. I hope more people get the true message. practice what with what you do have and develop skills. even if its going without power or water at your home, go through the motions so that when shtf happens, you have muscle memory on what to do. it may never happen but its a good skill to have in the toolbag guys. thanks for the video CFP

    Thank you so much! This is my favorite video of yours. I do Like them all, but this one shows some basics of primitive survival which is helpful to most of us utube SHTF dreamers…
    The sun situation is very serious but many do not understand the dangers, or at least seriously underestimate them.
    As a small child I suffered a heat Stroke. I survived (obviously) but since then I have been more attuned to the dangers of weather and outside temperature conditions. Nature does not EF around.
    One thing I wish you had added; is how to harvest (gather) the cactus and how to prepare the cactus and lichen as food.

      Also you mentioned the wind a lot...and in a earlier video, Wyoming. I lived in the Oklahoma panhandle area for several years. The wind is nerve racking there. A friend of mine used to say, "If you can't golf in 40 mph wind...you can't golf."
      Almost every day it would blow 40 mph or higher by 10 am. They actually had one of the earliest wind generators built in Clayton, New Mexico. The city thought they would get it cheaply from the builder...but the builder took it down after negotiations failed.

    • @SurvivalLiving
      @SurvivalLiving  2 роки тому

      Actually if you want to get technical on this subject, you don't want to store food or clean and prepare a animal in camp. Fire is the ultimate purification system. What is cooked over the fire gets burnt up in the flames and coals below. So yes you can cook in camp.
      In survival as I shown in this video, resources are extreamly limited so making two separate camp fires with limited fire wood and lack of energy to constantly collection of fire wood is a no.
      Now if you are in Bear Country, that's a different story, but like I said earlier in the video I had coyote and bobcat tracks in my area.
      But hey, I trained with the best and was a actual instructor at outdoor survival businesses and now own and operate my own.
