im gonna bleach + dye my hair for the first time (by myself), i have dark-brown hair so i'll use 20-30 vol ( idk i just want vibrant purple on the ends and a darker mellow tint in the middle. im going for a violet moment :)
Just so you guys know manicpanic dyes have a particular metal in them that helps deposit the colour into your hair, however the metal doesn't leave your hair ..... ever. When you re bleach your hair the metal can react with the bleach and ever the violet in toner shampoos causing unwanted colours to come through eg: the metals in the blues and purples turns pink ect. So you have to grow it out :/ I didn't know this until I recoloured my hair recently and a very good hairdresser friend was telling me about them.
Chitown ShaSha go semi permanent with your dyes instead of a "fudge" or what is essentially hair paint like manic panic. Semi permanent dyes will fade, but it's easier to change up the colour that way!
manic panic doesnt have metal. it has plastic and vinyl because it is a polymer. There are plenty of big name semi permanents that are polymer and they dont act like normal hair coloring pigments. Polymer acts like a chain and wraps around the melanin and it is IMPOSSIBLE to bleach out. You will go through every stage of that polymer and you can lighten it but it will NOT come out unless you cut it out, which is why her hair had a green tint left over. The polymer is still in her hair. They make lightener (bleach) that may color you hair at the same time, but bleach defuses natural AND artificial melanin. the only way for that to be possible is if they have it mixed with a polymer because bleach cant diffuse polymer. only make it lighter.

as a Cosmetology student i would suggest that you do a strand test before coloring your hair so you know how the color comes off and also that nothing like this occurs again 😊
Hayley Johns when I use it I usually add a bit of developer to it. It's all vegan hair dye so you don't need to add anything to it but I do. They also have a diluter that you can use to make the dyes lighter. But it's completely up to you if you want to add conditioner to it.

So when you bleached it, you allowed that color to go into your hair, and semi permanent doesn't belong in there so it can get stuck, which is what happened up close by your roots. Also I know everyone says please don't bleach your hair twice in one day; there's a reason for that. After you bleach your hair once, you mess up the PH balance, that's why it won't lift as well as the first time. So you are basically just damaging your hair at that point more then lifting. But yeah.. lol. You're super funny, and adorable and I loved the video!!!

Some semi permanents are polymers, which means they are made of plastic and vinyl. the color molecule acts like a chain and wraps itself around the cuticle making a barrier. It stayed because bleach cannot diffuse polymer, only lighten it, which is why her hair stayed green and didnt bleach all the way. polymer can only be lightened or cut out of the hair, but it will always be present and you will almost always be able to see it. manic panic is the most popular polymer out there.

I always use L'oreal Effasol color remover to remove any color I have on my hair. I change my hair color often too because I get bored of it. And that product has saved my ass from having to bleach my hair. It strips all of the color off I've had teal, purple, and pink.
Miss Muffin I've never tried the one you mentioned but with the l'oreal one it starts lifting really fast and it hasn't left my hair looking orange before and I've removed purple, teal, red and pink dye.
I'm not sure why people dont use the color remover, or color oops instead of bleaching it out 2 or 3 times... it's all damaging, but one application of color oops to 2 or 3 bleaches with 40 volume is less damaging.
Just a heads up hair dye with conditioner will look SO vibrant in the tube and on your head. Once you wash it out that pink would have been super super light! I promise you Trust me I've done the same thing with the same products
In the bowl I mean not tube and on your head But it always washes out so much more bubble gum colored when you wash it! I have tons of pink dyes including those two!

Clarissa S Well she's actually lucky that she made the mistake of mixing that much bleach, because when bleach sits and you're not using it right away it oxidizes and after about 45-60 min it doesn't work at full strength. Also, her blonde isn't actually very blonde, it's a pretty dark blonde which is why she had to go in with a darker color to cover. Lastly she didn't get close to the line of demarcation (where the green started) and that's where it can get tricky and you can get serious breakage. She could've easily used a color remover and avoided all that hassle and not have green in her hair, because even thought it's "covered" now it will pop back up eventually, probably the next bleaching.
Jazmin Gonzalez If you're going to use a conditioner as a mixer, make sure it doesn't have any silicones in it because silicones sit on top of the hair so the dye won't stick or will fade very quickly. I use salon products, but I know that Tresseme makes a silicone free conditioner.

It looks beautiful in my opinion! I tried to dye my hair gray and the bleach didn't really do anything to my hair. I bleached it twice and it only got orange. I couldn't get the toner until the next day and by that time I just wanted dark hair again so I dyed my hair black on top of orange. Blue is seriously such a struggle to remove. Please be careful when doing it because it can stay in the hair for months without ever fully coming out. This is especially a problem with the dyes from Sally's because they're so pigmented that they can actually become permanent. I know from personal experience trying to take out blue dye from my friend's hair and even with multiple bleach sessions, it only came out to a pale turquoise. This is not to say it will happen to everyone, but it can happen.
That's exactly where my hair is right now. It's faded to more of a grey now because of the color I had before the blue but it definitely still has a blue undertone

Blue is a really hard color to get out , for future reference try and use a color remover instead of bleaching it. With the color remover it doesn't damage your hair like bleach does.

if you want a more vibrant color then yes, just apply the dye straight to your head without adding conditioner to the dye

Blue is seriously such a struggle to remove. Please be careful when doing it because it can stay in the hair for months without ever fully coming out. This is especially a problem with the dyes from Sally's because they're so pigmented that they can actually become permanent. I know from personal experience trying to take out blue dye from my friend's hair and even with multiple bleach sessions, it only came out to a pale turquoise. This is not to say it will happen to everyone, but it can happen.
That's exactly where my hair is right now. It's faded to more of a grey now because of the color I had before the blue but it definitely still has a blue undertone

Blue is a really hard color to get out , for future reference try and use a color remover instead of bleaching it. With the color remover it doesn't damage your hair like bleach does.
