      Truth!! Years ago I won a certificate for coloring at a top notch fancy salon. My hair ended up pure orange and they all gathered around trying to tell me it was beautiful and not orange like I was blind or something. I was floored. I went back to my normal girl at a Hair Cuttery and she was floored when I came in. She said what in the world did you do. I told her what happened and she completely fixed it and just charged me what a normal color cost. She is also the only person that has ever given me a proper perm. Everytime I had perms before her 1 side was always curlier than the other. She was doing her 1st temporary perm on me (which the temp perms were the best I've ever had and were more permanent) and she said my head is a 2 box perm. She was running out halfway in. Then it clicked why my hair always looked lopsided. This young girl at a cheap hair cutting place was my best hair stylist I ever had. She was there around 5yrs when she started going to school for radiology. I literally cried when she left and was no longer doing hair but I was happy for her. I've never had a better stylist and I tried so many rich places with highend hair designers that cost a fortune. I hope she is doing well these days as this was 20yrs ago or more.

      Especially her willingness to attempt THE most difficult option. Of course the client didn’t want to go dark or get a significant cut after an overall bleaching. Of course she wanted someone to go hair by hair, placing product only on the dark sections. Sheesh.

    • @user-zl5sl5mz6p
      @user-zl5sl5mz6p 17 годин тому +1

      @@ocky88 But... if a customer will hate it dark she would only damage it more by going dark and a week later want it lighter. So this probably was the best for her hair and this client shouldn't get anyones opinion because she went thru enough with her hair.
      She just wanted it light from the start and the only one to blame is the one who damaged her hair.
      The hairdresser can always say no also. It's just good that the two of them met😊 one who wanted to pay for a great job and one who could provide it.

    • @Iflie
      @Iflie День тому +26

      Yeah if she didn't have the money and the attachment to both length and being blond she could just have gone back to her natural colour. It's not rare either, I think most people who go blond eventually have to go dark at some point. The only ones I've seen that keep very healthy hair are the ones who only have to be lifted a few levels so were blond to begin with and just go lighter. Otherwise your hair isn't going to make it 15 years of bleaching.

    • @user-zl5sl5mz6p
      @user-zl5sl5mz6p 18 годин тому +14

      People think that beauty service is a right. It's not, it is a luxury.
      Some book a cheap appointment to fix problems from a cheap place but they need several hours. And they still don't want to pay after getting high quality help.
      Never be that customer or person that complains over prizes, if you can't pay for a service then just don't book any.
      Yes she could have just gone dark. And probably should in my op. Let the hair rest and grow back out healthy, cut off more also.

    $120 an hour for this sort of mess sounds like a freaking bargain. As someone who gets highlights, lowlights, and an all over lightening... it's worth every single penny to have someone who knows what they are doing. This is so much work and it's hard work and takes a lot of skill to do. I also pay a premium to get my hair done and it takes at least four hours every time, and it took me so long to find someone who could do it well. I am more than happy to pay someone to do it right. • @mslindsvlog
    @mslindsvlog День тому +15

    This is what I as a fellow stylist live for. I love seeing stylists know what they're doing and understand it's all about chemistry! I can't respect laziness when it comes to hair, and I much prefer to spend hours on my clients than rush. Unfortunately, some salons are not accepting of a stylist working on one client all day and expect you take 2 hours max on a coloring service to turn out quantity over quality (based on my past experiences). That's why I prefer to be a freelancer. I have all the time in the world to dedicate as much time as I need to make everything perfect for each of my clients without feeling like i'm rushing. Rushing and inexperience is when you make mistakes, and I think the previous stylist here suffered with inexperience and getting things done as fast as possible. It's a passion and an art form yes, but your work on your clients head is your walking billboard. All of that rambling to say, I appreciate videos like these! Love your work and dedication to your craft!

    i learned a lot from this video through your description of improper highlight touchups! i always wondered if these kinds of horizontal stripes would be a normal result of highlight maintenance so i’m glad to understand proper technique better through a negative example. really impressive work

    You did amazing with that. As for what you was saying about people disagreeing about pricing, this is back breaking work that takes a lot of skill to get this result let alone the pain in your hands from the tedious movements and the hours of putting those foils in. You can’t do that for nothing your time and knowledge plus labour is all worthy of payment. ❤

    While I would never pay $1000 to fix my hair this was amazing. I had hair messed up almost as bad but I eventually cut off all of it except 1-3 inches. My hair was in the middle of my back. My thought is it will always grow back. You did a fantastic job. I was so scared it would break off. I’m so surprised how good it looks.

    Wow. What a great job. I’m somewhat surprised though that the client opted to go lighter vs darker and focus on hair health. I would have been terrified to bleach my hair yet again.
    Obviously this shows the expertise of the stylist; and the importance of going to someone who knows what they are doing.

    You are a sorceress! I not so low key wished you would have roasted that previous "hair stylist" a bit more bc they hopefully will see this and feel embarassed. That person engaged in a disrespectful assault on this young woman's hair AND pocket! Your pricing should never be a topic for debate bc this is literally magic and you worked VERY hard to give this young lady hair that wouldn't make her cry everytime she looked at herself. Thank you for sharing your work and talents with us!

    This is a miraculous color correction! 30 years ago I had a similar experience. I was blessed to find my old expert stylist who gave me the 2 options available at the time 1: cover with dark to help fill in and get dusting trims every two weeks to stay on top of damage; or 2: lose over a foot of hair and start all over. I went with option two. I knew either way the damage was done and it needed to come off. The treatments like Olaplex and K18 are such game changers for hair.

    I'm back to comment again after watching this whole video. You have such incredible patience and you did an amazing job. I'm a baby stylist and I've already had a few color corrections myself. But this was super informative and I'm saving this video for the day I have one like this walk in so I can go back and refer to it. I also like that you used the term "lazy stylist". The salon owner where I work also uses that term and one of her first compliments to me was that I was "definitely not a lazy stylist". So that made me feel good. I'm also willing to do stuff like this so people can walk out happier than when they came in. Thank you for recording these processes so we can all learn and grow. :)

    You did an amazing job unfortunately there are lot of hair salons like this in the uk they gas light you after messing up your hair and tell you its your fault in some way you must have missed out some of your hair history your hair type is the reason why or texture or any other reason than them doing a terrible job i think you got an absolutely incredible result well worth every penny i hope she doesn't decide now you have corrected it to go somewhere cheaper for the low lights and shadow roots would be such a shame after all this hard work ❤
