- So yes, we all know the Edmonton Oilers are off to a bad start, but this was the time to get some mojo back. Coming into tonights matchup the Oilers were 10-0-2 in their last 12 against Nashville and had already beaten them once this year. Perfect time to get the season turned around, right? Well, Ryan O'Reilly had other plans scoring a hat trick and technically, scoring two goals on ONE shift! I talk about it all in todays NHL hockey video!

What needs to change in Edmonton?
fire the head coach !!!!!! Wishful thinking I know , but what else can you do , trade someone?
Dont build your team on 2 players. You need depth, some cap space for building team and ffs some defensive defensemen. Goaltending is bad, but greatly due to defense and defensive play from fowards. Campbell and Skinner are doing everything they can.
get rid of that punchable coach, obviously not doing it right. the team is slow and sluggish
Fire Ken Holland
A goalie.
Maybe they just need *one* more 1st overall pick
1st overall picks are for teams that cover up sexual abuse, apparently

One entertainment value writer did come up with it and said Pre-Season they would not even make the Show or would go don in the 1st Rnd to the Kings.
Bullshit. You could see that it was possible. Just that no one would take you seriously.
Oilers were tryharding too early in the preseason and all this "motivation" stuff does not matter when leadership thinks more hours = better outcome. That is not the case. Their training and management processes and culture need to change fast.
Oilers culture cannot handle any setbacks and even the maina characters of their team look confused and irritated when they lose. Seems like they cannot believe it, and if they cannot believe that they can lose how can they ever fix their misplays?

It doesn’t matter how much you can score if you can’t defend. The Oilers have to admit that their goaltending and defence suck.
I mean, what's scariest is their offense doesn't even look that good, either. Fine, for sure, but 2 goals today? Not often that that is enough to win, but it's definitely not nearly enough to outscore problems in other areas.

100%. TBF, i dont think any goaltender could "look good" playing for this oilers team. First things first, we need better defensive play- and this extends beyond our literal defensemen. Ironically, we need more players like Yamamoto. The people that sh!t on him simply DO NOT know hockey. he was such an unsung hero, with the most forced turnovers vs TIO. He was the glue that held the league leading PK last season. Absolute L on that trade. now hes a 4th liner with 3 mins tio per game. Utterly Ridiculous.
The problem is, they can't even score either lmfao

McDavid needs to become Mctraded
This old Islanders fan is one happy dude, seeing Edmonton struggle. It's not like the old days, when Edmonton won games 7-4 or 9-6 or in similar fashion, against teams that had garbage goaltending and defense. They have to play like the Islanders of old. Their blueline and G are not good enough to do it. Oh well.
I was at the game in Minnesota. Oilers vs Wild. McDavid was injured and Edmonton got utterly destroyed in that game.
I find it amazing that Oiler fans still don’t understand / believe that this is a poorly constructed team and I’m not just talking about this year. Hollond has never addressed the issues with this team very well and gambled poorly with the goaltending and depth. Just plain bad decisions.
Cherili screwed this team. His deals lucked out, dry, and kosk was a maybe. But, the rest were brutal.
I can’t watch the Oilers anymore, they’re done. They’ve had all the time, opportunity, and talent to bring a cup to Edmonton. They’re done, its over, sell off some assets and plan for a long rebuild. Maybe start with defence this time.
"its still too early, its only been ___ games"

Seeing the Oilers flop is beautiful 🥹🥹
The Oilers need to pull off a blockbuster trade similar to the Canucks dealing Horvat. Draisaital's contract is due up in two years so they could get a top D-man, a roster player{ goalie maybe} plus draft choices. If this debacle continues change is inevitable and our Canucks deal that netted Hronek is looking really good.
Ottawa would be good. Draisaitl/Hopkins and Nurse for Batherson and Chabot/Chychrun would be fair but Ottawa does have a few centers already though.
Mr. Belvedere isn't bad either.
Agreed. Canucks fan here. Trading Horvat was really painful but Hronek has been an amazing addition for us.
All the other player's in the league have the Soilers on their no trade list so forget it fans nobody wants to play in Deadmonton

For sure Jack has not changed his style in any way. On the wrap around he came across the net like a St. Bernard who had been out for along walk. He showed his back stroke and his specialty the face first sprawl. He has honed that sprawl over the years, after finding him self on his knees pulling the puck out he learned to leap forward like he knows where the puck is or is going (he doesn't) and when the light goes on he can savor the fan appreciation of "oh look how hard he's trying". Another favorite for Jack is never control the puck on an initial shot, cause if they take 3/4 shots, it helps your average.
Maybe that rainbow tape just did not help them enough.....LMAO
They can't rely on the McDavid, Draisaitl chemistry every game. They need to get there defensive core going.
They need to change their defensive core 😂
Im happy for O'Reily. Now that he is out of Toronto, he can play freely again

2 goals on one play has to be a new record
Goaltending and defence. This team has all the offensive tools (they're a bit hit or miss this year so far bit they're there) but goaltending and defence will keep them from the cup right now.
It might even keep them from making the playoffs at this rate 😂

Same guy hamstringing the Leafs has been hamstringing the Oilers for over a Decade,Dellow and Dubas were and are connected, so are Schwartz and a lot more dirty pool type of people. Hyman should check out his Employers a little closer before signing on. Well, this is going to make almost all of the hockey experts at Sportsnet rethink their Stanley Cup predictions prior to the season. They all had Edmonton winning the whole thing and Vegas wasn't even considered making the conference finals. Nice call everyone except Craig Button. He was only one who said Vegas will repeat. He is looking really smart right now and the rest are just amateurs at best. Pretty bad when an entire network gets it wrong. Lol.
vegas is susceptible to the same injuries and crap that happen in an 80 game season, i don't see them repeating because they had everything going for them last year while the panthers had to deal with serious injuries. this year will be different and you can tell craig button that i said so....
Actually Vegas DOES have a good chance of repeating. 3 main reasons: excellent depth, solid goaltending, and one of the best (if not the best) coaches in the league.
It's always been puzzling to me why Edmonton is picked by so many "experts' to win the cup. Getting outscored by Vegas 5 on 5 a whopping 18 to 10 in the playoffs should be a huge red flag.

The team has learned to lose & no longer knows how to win. It’s a psychological team problem. Every loss we hear the same pablum - gotta fix the mistakes - from every person in the oilers organization. What I see from that is that no one is held accountable - whether it be management, coaching or players.
All of this time they still haven’t drafted a good goalie and a solid defence. I think it’s time to move on from Conner and Leone and get as many picks and start from scratch.
