Im having the toughest time . Injured (complete acl tear July 2022) forced to wait on the VA till march 2023 to get surgery. 6 months into "recovery" im now having serious issues. And scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. I was powerlifting and playing FlagFTB before this. Now i can barely out weight on my leg again. Going without pain meds is not even an option. Nearly 2 years behind this. And im over it.

But happy you're posting about this because there isn't much on this specifically.

Did the Va send you out patient? Or you getting surgery directly at the Va I’m worried it will take forever for me to get acl reconstruction through them as well.

I’m around 1 year and 3 months out from this surgery and I am still struggling with the foot to butt flexion as described in this video. Is there anything you would recommend doing to help with this?

Thx for the video. 35M deciding between quad autograft and btb autograft. No kneeling activities except taking care of baby/toddler. Primary sport tennis.
With the quad graft I am worried about being able to bend and stay in a low athletic stance for the entirety of a match. I have heard donor site pain can prevent some from doing this. Do you have any insight on this and which graft may be better for a tennis player and hiker?

Quad graft is the best for life. Pettla is the worst because you will never be able to kneel again and will have permanent knee pain that you wouldn't have with a quad graft. Yes the tendon will feel tight but it can be treated with stretching it with PT and full range squats. I have had both and I can tell you the pettla graft ruined my life. The sheer amount of rage I have for surgeons that even still use pettla grafts is something most people can't understand. Most surgeon that are worth being around never use the pettla graft because it has a 45 percent chance of crippling you for life with knee pain.

Will the quad tendom permenently feel tight? If I go for a quad graft for my acl surgery, will life every be the same again after a year?

@drmunchman6614 You will be able to walk and kneel without pain. Squats can feel a bit tight but will be uncomfortable at first.
