I had ACL repair in December of 1996 six weeks later a freak accident cause my kneecap to T fracture, my surgeon put my kneecap back together, sort of the bottom two pieces, went back together correctly, but he left a 6 mm gap horizontally above the two bottom pieces.🤬🤬🤬 Approximately six weeks later, the operation failed and the top piece once again came apart from the two bottom pieces.🤬🤬🤬🤬 He used two pens, vertical and figure 8 tie wire to hold it together, although it was quite clear on the x-ray that he did NOT Correctly wrap the tire wire, it look more like a noose. Nine months later, I had a fibrous union, and he had the audacity to joke that I had the biggest kneecap east of the Mississippi😏. I noticed you said in the video that you had only seen this or heard of this once or so, I’m in the dirt, biking crowd, and I have seen it not only as I said with myself, but others.. Another friend of mine son had the same operation, his surgeon broke his kneecap, removing the graft on the operating table🤷🏼♂️. Thanks for the videos, I thought I would throw in what I had learned the hard way.
Pettla graft crippled me for life. I have talked with one of the best surgeons in the country and has no idea what to do. The tendon didn't heal right after harvesting from a different surgeon. I am worried I am gonna have to quit my trade because I have to kneel but my surgeon didn't care and manipulated me into the surgery. Quad graft is the best and has the least amount of complications. My other knee was done with that graft by they skilled surgeon and it feels almost exactly like it used to be. My right is just utterly ruined and it is noticeable in my walk. I am a welder and have to move my body in strange ways and my knee is gonna be the death of me. I asked if my surgeon can just remove the screws, remove the scar tissue and try and repair the damage the other surgeon caused. The surgeon I am with now said it would probably cause more damage and would probably make me wheel chair bound. He recommended PRP or stem cells instead. Insurance doesn't cover it so I am screwed.
@Martial166 Strongest graft but is the most likely to cause permanent knee pain. Quad graft is similar in strength and causes no pain to harvest site when healed. The graft is not the issue for me it is the harvest site
Non knee based graft like Peronius longus have shown better results it might be the graft of the future. My hamstrings are still weak even several years post aclr
I had my surgery on 13th March, 24. I'm able to walk now, but my patella gets stuck when I'm walking. I'm not able to bend by knee while walking. However, if I'm sitting or lying on bed, I have no problem in bending my knee. Did anyone ever experience this? Any tips or advice? Thanks
Great info man, thx for putting together

My patella graft seems shorter and tighter. The whole joint still cracks 8 years on.
