What happened to EOB Complete? I loved seeing the work other people had done at the end.
The funny thing about being a fan of the hobby is seeing all of the videos recently about the veil-touched. I like the guys at MWG and love the models. Dude, even Baldermort did a hilarious lore video about them. Glad they reached out to the people who the fans watch and like because people like me got to see all of the fun videos you guys did on the awesome models.
Having the same YT experience myself lol.
@@surtrpicks if you watch the batreps on MWG, you absolutely have to see the Baldermort video. He makes everyone who does the battles a character and it's the funniest thing ever.
@@jeromebound9155 will do! Thx
EONS AGO I was on UA-cam and I watched a video of some lunatic smashing a TV and extracting it's components to create stuff for some weird hobby. It was Dave from Mini Wargaming. After I watched that video, I went down a huge rabbit hole, introducing me into the hobby.
I like the more "warped" style of these models. It looks like they've been properly twisted over 10,000 years, rather than clean lines and clean spikey bits added. They resonate more with the narrative of the chaos astartes being twisted forms, rather than that they've sat and added stuff to their armour themselves
The plague marine sculpts arr incredible.
All the rest. I have to agree.
These are behind the nurse boys. In front of everything else
Well thats the thing. Chaos marines aren’t inherently corrupted or demonic at all. Many are simply normal Astartes that only care about overthrowing the imperium, and all the spikey bits and new trim is just decoration they’ve added to their armor to stand apart from the Imperium.
I was on a really old battle report MWG did 10 years ago. They were so kind and are really amazing people though I haven't kept up with them for the last 8 years. Really happy to see Dave.
I appreciate that you make mini painting look less daunting with all the dry brushing and contrast paints, thank you!
1. Just after the drybrushing, it looked amazing.
2. if you put some paint on one brush, and flick it, I think you'll get the blood you're looking for.
I used a toothbrush since they have springy bristles and it really splattered well.
Yeah or a stipling brush. I never thought of that tooth brush thats a great idea.
Seeing a lot of these guys about, the guys behind it must be doing a lot of pr work.
Too much you can say
They're almost as busy with the PR as they were with the designs.
I like some of these but most don't do it for me. They're good but they would have never sold me on chaos space marines like the current set did.
Yeah, that's a big problem with a lot of the not-4ok bits, they look cool and sci-fi but they don't really fit 40k, so they look ot of place as pure 40k style model.s
If you put a little paint on an old toothbrush, then you can directionally spatter it to create those blood drops. You can change how fine it sprays by changing how fluid the paint is.
Great Vid with the different techniques per model.
Thank you so much for this. I have been wanting to start a chaos army and saw this crowd fund as a huge opportunity, but have been dreading painting them up. Glad to hear the details are prominent enough for quick techniques!
Awesome to see great channels and companies in this hobby come together and collaborate with products like these!
The intro skit oddly reminded me of the MWG skit where Dave orders a new demon prince (its called "To Field A Daemon Prince")
Dave is the literal definition of a chaos god. He goes around spreading the word of chaos to small warhammer UA-camrs, and it’s insane.
I like how quick you sponge, it just helped me realize how easy adding detail can be!!
I 'bout died at "Milk for the Khorneflakes." The delivery on that was perfect.
That intro bit with Dave was super cute!
Digging the new intro. I imagine it being Jazza dumping streaking grime on everything. lol
These are amazing miniatures, sadly there are too many details on them. So much so that it looks overwhelming.
I would love to paint a few of them as Thousand Sons, however they don't butter my toast with PB-Jelly:(
They're really hard to look at.
Yeah they seem to busy. I think the way minis are designed now lifts the restraints on the designer's part and therefore we end up with ALL THE DETAILS!
A lot of 3D models for printing suffer from this.
Definitely and considering you can't kitbash them at all takes some creativity out of it for the hobbyist. however, a lot of people just want to do basic wash and drybrush work and they are ideal for that tbf
Came here to say that. They are cool, but they look more video game characters. Overengineered and too busy I think. Where say a GW Chaos Marine is a 7 or an 8, they kinda cranked it up to 12. Probably partially so they would definitely not look like a GW Model but overshot it.
Agreed. These are definitely dope models, but I don't necessarily want to put an HQ amount of work into every one of my Marines. Would definitely consider these for Chaos Lords/Squad Leaders.
For good blood spatters I would recommend using a dingy brush and then flicking from it with a toothpick. For bigger blobs you use more paint on the brush, for smaller speckles you can use less and/or dilute the paint with a bit of water.
You make the painting look so effortless. Keep up the amazing work!
Great video. You convinced me to pledge this Campaign. I could only get a few models but I'm looking forward to painting them.
On an additional note, you did a fantastic job on the painting. Given me some inspiration for when they arrive in October!
Thank you for showing scale. I got worried they were to big. Puts my mind at ease.
You make painting look so easy! I think I will try some of these techniques to make my unpainted backlog ready to play!
Wow! Yeah I was equally worried about all the detail. But glad to hear it works out.
@0:37 awesome shoutout! thats so cool.
Games Workshop still makes Chaos Space Marines with 1 wound...
As wierd as it may sound, my sister makes big use of bridal eyeshadow kit brushes. A lot more control then using a bit of sponge , the henna tissues(use for creating short term skin ornaments) are a good tool for creating cracked armour/demonic veins patterns on models.
Wow each model really had its own mood and looked awesome.
great techniques, definitely going to copy this style as soon as mine arrive!
I backed the project for the maximum amount. Oh, I can't wait to see them models on my own table
When working with blood for the blood god a good tip to make it look more realistic is to add it straight from the pot for a few pieces. Then mix a little with black ink and put a few splodges of that over the same piece. It makes it look like thick congealed blood and looks a little less flat. Even better is to do the same with timiya red paint. It gets an awesome sticky texture when drying and can be manipulated to look gross and realistic
From personal testing I've found that just using a toothbrush to flick the paint is the best to get the proper splatters, then just stipple for larger bits.
Love these epic cross overs, gotta say Twas wholesome af
Great vid and paint jobs man!! These models are gorgeous too
Oh man.. they are cool. You did a fantastic job. Favorite is the Night Lords theme, a whole squad of those as terror specialists would look fantastic!
Thanks for covering this! Been follopwing the project from day one and the Mark of Dave glows bright on those models! Also I think the ligtning should have been more of an effect the just paint like the armor is elecrit fied still looks great though!
Great job! (My favorite is the Emperor’s Child)
you did a really nice job on these
Very nice different speed painting approaches. I really like them! Would you mind making some 40k Alpha Legion in the future? Want to see your approach on these guys.
Looks fantastic. Might have to join when they open the pledge manage next month. I don't have any chaos marines, but these are super detailed and I appreciate that.
Fantastic work was just thinking about doing a kill team I like how each one has its own color scheme would work well with any team
A great technique I've seen for splattering blood like that on a model is to load up a paint brush with the blood, hold it about an inch in front of the area you want splattered, and give the brush a brief blast with your empty airbrush.
That looked like great fun!!! And great results
Lord Macragge had some live arms. Eon! Eon! Eon!
And on his arms he had some Orks Eon! Eon! Eon!
Witha a Dakka Dakka here! And a Dakka Dakka there!
Here a Dakka! There a Dakka! everywhere a Dakka Dakka Dakka!
Ok you do the next verse.
This fundraiser looks sweet! My wallet will hate me for the next month but I have to get me some of this spikey chaos action!
Love the paint jobs man! To be fair to GW though, they already have the red and silver trim theme. They’re called word bearers. I solely play world eaters and I usually wash the brass with drakenhoff nightshade. Cools it down a bit. But the look great. I was blown away when you did the black legion guy right of the bat
These new transitions are pretty dope!
you can use white spirit on blood for the blood god, it work pretty well
I've been so jaded with GW/wargaming content recently. Recently discovered this channel and it really is a breath of fresh air - keep up the good work buddy.
Blood drops...get paint on your brush end then use air from your airbrush behind it to spay the paint off the brush onto the target. It works really well with red ink.
My big fear after ordering these was how to quickly paint them. Super glad you put out this video. I'll definitely be doing something like this to my veil touched. Thanks
Milk for the Khorneflakes! You should make a shirt with that on.
To get a splattered / sprayed blood effect I like to use a flat brush and my airbrush. Simply put some blood color on the tip of the flat brush, hit it with some air from the airbrush. Varying color density, air pressure, angle and distance between brush, airbrush and mini you'll get different random looking effects.
Dave got that 6"- Unlimited" range on that toss
If you want to get a realistic spray effect with blood for the blood god, dip a tough bristled brush into a splurge of the paint and flick it at the miniature. Yes you have less control but the affect is that of someone who has literally carved an arm off with a chainsword. You can mask the model aswell before doing this, to only get it in areas you want.
cool to see miniwargammer dave
EonsOfBattle Colab finally happened!!!
Haven't used Blood for the Blood God, but for other similar effects instead of blowing it directly out of a straw, grab some paint on a medium brush and blow through it with a straw. Used to do that for splatter on historical aircraft and tanks. Or for larger models, but some on an old toothbrush and flick the bristles with the thumb while hopefully pointing it in the proper direction.
So glad to see these being painted. Them being taller than the smurfborn marines is a big plus to me and my terrible eyesight
Try just blowing the paint on from your brush it can be a little inconsistent but you get smaller splatters patterns it's what I did for some of my ork choppas and it turned out pretty nice. Or maybe put some type of mesh over the end of your straw but idk how that would work out.
Does anyone know of any online pics of this drybrushing the trim on the GW chaos sculpts? I'm curious if it looks goon on the official chaos sculpts, as I have a lot of chaos that I've been putting off painting because the trim is such a pain. But If this looks good on them, I might finally get round to it lol.
Blood for the Bloodgod: grab an old toothbrush... dip a few bristles into Bftbg and drag your thumb over it so the bristles snap back towards your model... this produces a wellscaled bloodsplatter. If you do this from a single direction you can even get "object sourced splatter" - or OSS ;-)
Saw a video yesterday where someone dipped the brush in GW Blood and fired air from an airbrush through it. It was very effective.
@@MrBizteck Thats a good technique as well but requires A) an airbrush and B) some practise. I found the old toothbrush method easier and cheaper if slightly more messy. Hence I always recommend the tootbrush ;-)
They are very detailed and a nice variation, though very heavy on fantasy chaos warrior aspect. Top of my head some of the possesed art i have seen has aspects I like better then offical miniatures, which are a bit less fantasy armor and more like space marine armor being molded into living thing
Looking at the khorn beserkers, ok yea you need these over those outdated atrocitys. That was the real reason kharn started shooting a flame thrower at them he saw them and was like "I can't be on this side"
Yep, ordered the entire set of Veil Touched. Really excited for the Horror ones as they remind me a lot of Resident Evil! October can’t come fast enough!
Damnit, now I want a Black Legion killteam...
All that baroque detail is a key part of grim-dark.
These miniatures look awesome and make me want to start chaos... 😬👍🏼
These look AMAZING
LOL bro the straw segment
I absolutely love these models, they fit my tainted word bearers dream to a T and I can't wait for them to come in!
As a Kid, my favourite GW Chaos models were the Khorne Beserkers. That was like 20 years ago and it's still the same bloody models. I'd like to see ALL marine models be it Tactical Marines, Sanguinary Guard or Chaos Marines upscaled to match Primaris sizes, they look ridiculous next to Primaris. But some Chaos models need new sculpts all together. It's one thing having so many mini marines but Khorne Beserkers look like they were already outdated before Chaos turned against the Emperor
Hopefully this year we will get WB codex and new model for berserkers
These miniatures look so good but I’m waiting until I get a job to buy them. They will probably be split between Night Lords and World Eaters when I buy them.
Only 100 boxes of shame? Those are rookie numbers, gotta bump those numbers up.
Recently saw these on FB. Probably getting the possessed to go with my night lords. Only a little hesitant because apparently they're getting a re-release soon
Man, those marines, sorry, I mean evil space soldiers in power armor would make for an awesome Grimdark Future army
hey mate, put a little bit of blood red ink on a toothbrush and stroke the brush with your finger to apply blood splatter
I might get some two they look awesome
For blood splattet..splatter... I use an old paint brush, load it up and then I use canned air VERY LIGHTLY to spray the blood on the model. You can get some awesome splatter and patterns this way!
the chaos lord in terminator armor looks amazing
My thoughts exactly!
They look amazing indeed.
Also, FO have minis?!
I thought the Black Legion colour scheme worked extremely well, that was definitely my favourite.
Same, it was great
Can I use the shot of you opening the box at the start for a meme?
The axe evil one looks like the executioner after each battle. Very menacing!
Really like these models and would love to just buy a squad for Kill Team but sadly it isn't an option, can only get the large army boxes
man, all the good kick starters come around when i dont have the funds to back them lol, fortunately though, i have a 3d printer... so because I cant back this kick starter, im feeling a little inspired to prints some minis :) thanks for sharing, it'll be interesting to see where this goes and how it'll develop outside of kick starter.
EDIT: wow, i just realized i hadn't subscribed to your channel!! how have i gone this long watching your videos every week without subbing... my bad bro!! definitely smashed that sub button though!
These minis are great!
It’s 12:30 AM and I was about to go to bed, then after watching this video the paints and models are out and Im not sure how that happened.
What have you done??
What's that opening tune? Seems so familiar but I can't place it.
It sounds like that really old youtube animation mix by Cyriak's music, but not quite.
I may get some because they look bad ass and some would be useful for khorne berserkers if I went that route
Ive been so scared to paint my own night lords as they are going to be my first models I paint but seeing what can be dont with just a spray and dry brushing Ima give it a shot also did he make a video of those night lords he painted I looked all the way back to like six years but nothing popped out if someone can help
What is the quote behind Dave and what is the reference?
that was a brill vid....hate them being 32mm though
Miniac has a video called : „Stop using color theory like a dingus“…. maybe give that a watch jay 😉
Hello! I fell under your influence and bought myself some black templars and I was wondering what would be the most appropriate base style for them lore wise? I want to base them according to where and who they actually fought. Or maybe you can direct me to some material ;) P.S. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
They are a crusading legion, so they are literally anywhere! Best advice is to make your own planet and battle up and base them that way!
If you want a canon planet, they fought on Armageddon
very nice
as an enthusiast of anything related to 3d printing or resin, the level of detail is amazing. Probably harder to paint but it's nice to have a hardmode/great result as an option.
Edit : Well damn, apparently it's not even that hard, win/win !
Last one is the best one!! 😎
Milk for the corn flakes? LOL!
