Those harmonies at the end of Club Tropicana - Coo-ooool (breath) -The production genius! The falsetto, base and synth in Everything She Wants - AMAZING! And yes - Andrew looks incredible in plaid. Have you seen him in his red plaid suit? Stunning! That Young Guns performance was their first on TOTP. It was definitely rehearsed and was responsible for giving them their first big break. Gawd, how I miss WHAM! and the 80s. I was at The Wag in London one night in the early 80s and both George Michael and Boy George were there (not together). I danced with Boy; George kind of did his own thing. He was there with Pat Fernandez. I didn't fan girl all over George that night - but if it were to happen today? Bets are totally off for this old boomer in never ending WHAM! fan girl love. 😹 😹😹
George Michael was and will always be the sexiest man alive 😍🔥🔥 ohh how I miss the 80s.. If people want to know what made the 80s incredible just watch this 👍💃
Famous bass player, the one and only Deon Estus. George and Andrew considered him the third member. He was a very well-known and respected bass player. He not only was part of Wham for their entire career but also accompanied George on many projects during his solo career.
George and Andrew were all about having fun and that's exactly what they gave us 💜 Can't wait for the George live performances, especially if they are from the MTV unplugged session 💜
If possible, react to entire Unplugged. There's a very cute moment George says hello to his mum in the audience, the only time he'd done that on camera. If I'm correct, she also passed shortly after that.
Top of the Pops was the show that every teenager watched in the UK in the 70s 80s 90s as we had very little access to see Bands/Artists on TV. WHAM made fun songs and George had an amazing vioce. Fun fact Andrew Ridgeley and his wife Karen Woodward from Bananarama live about 40 miles away from me near Wadebridge in Cornwall UK, Very entertaining reaction video Thanks....
Ahhh, the 80s. Loved the music, the hair, the fashion, especially those box jackets with the shoulder pads!! I was in my 20's and life was good. Remember these TOTP Wham! performances like it was yesterday.
Beautiful George. So very sadly missed. As are the 80s. Everybody was thirsty for George, boys and girls! 😏 And you def need that shirt. Sure you could find one on ebay.. 👍
Loved your reaction. I remember when their album make it big came out I was 15 years old. I instantly had a crush on George Michael. I was more of a rock chick so my friends gave me Hell. Of course I didn’t care he such a great singer and a beautiful man to look at.❤️✌️🌼
It's all we had back then the radio and Top of the pops on a Thursday and a record player compared to now that was nothing ,George was a genius he wrote and produced all of his songs he was only 19 when he wrote young guns you can still get them shirts love watching this and of course you as well ♥️
Wow, this was everything I didn’t know I needed in my life today. OH HEY YOU JUST SAID THE SAME THING!! 😂 I’m glad we get each other. I’d only seen one of them before but what a joy this was to watch. I could watch George sing and dance all day. And your smile was so big through the whole thing, it made me smile more! Thank you for sharing this with us, we never get tired of Wham!
I remember being so excited when wham was ever on 'Top of the pops'. I was such a massive fan at a young age. Had 'Wham!' written all over my school books. I'm 50 next year agghh where did all those years go? 😂 Club tropicana is still my go to 'cheer up' song! Love love love yr reactions as always x
I love Wham! Always have, and George Michael even more. I'm a huge fan. I'm so glad to hear that you're gonna watch George sing live, because he is without comparison the best live singer I've ever seen on a stage, and I've seen quite a few amazing live performers including Morten Harket and Adam Lambert (I adore them both). But George could sing the hell out of any of them. I was lucky enough to see him in concert 5 times. It still breaks my heart that I'll never have the opportunity again. So I absolutely love that you're discovering him now ♥
Totally agree about TOTP not being live, we loved it anyway! They tried live briefly, and it was a short-lived disaster. I remember these appearances - happy days!
I would say all of the performances were choreographed to within an inch of their lives 😁 Also on 'Young Guns', Dee C Lee mimes George's vocal line. He did all the vocals apart from the "wasting your time on some creepy guy" part, which is oddly sung by DC Lee,but mimed by Shirlie Holliman (as is George's part by Andrew).
I saw you just posted a Wham! video reaction and clicked on it so fast! George and Andrew were so cute and looked like they had such fun. George Michael was so amazingly talented and we were all blessed to be able to listen to his beautiful voice. Love your reactions! Thanks for reacting to more George Michael in the future, especially live videos.
Wham! What can I say, except.... ALWAYS a good time! Such talent from both George and Andrew! George tho, is one the greatest singers! Love him and I'm so sad he's gone! Great guy!❤️💔
Wham were probably the first real boyband before it was a big thing in the 90s. Those days nobody realized what a phenomenal singer George was. Well I missed the "Top of the Pop" video of "The edge of heaven" . But I'm sure because you like George and Andrew you will find a way to do it later . When it comes to live performances I strongly recommend "Killer/Papa was a rolling stone". You'll love it.
👉 Wham! "Blue (live in China 1984)" 👉 Wham! "Where Did Your Heart Go? (TOTP 1986)" Two for the list. Wham! was teen Pop on the surface, but _class_ in the details.
This was the best Fun I’ve had for a bit!! Love wham!! Love George! Andrew didn’t get enough credit! Always loved his contribution as well! Thanks for this one! Can’t go wrong with anything George Michael! IMO. You pick great selections!💕
Hey, you're not thirsting anymore than we did back in the day. There were actually a couple of performances I didn't see so thanks for that. His style during the 'Everything She Wants' era was my fave. He was sooooo gorgeous. Try and find their TOTP performances of 'Where Did Your Heart Go' 'Freedom' 'Edge of Heaven' and 'Last Christmas' . There's also the show where they hit No1 with Wake Me Up. George got some Tshirts with No1 written on them and his mum stayed up all night sewing sequins on his. George was embarrassed because it got so heavy it was showing his chest too much, he said. Hey...I wasn't complaining.
Great vid. Wham! Performances were the best. To answer questions from Young Guns. TOTP had dancers spread around, to get the crowd going. Boy George for example was a dancer before he become famous. Majority of crowd is genuine, there to party. Most likely filming too place on a week day when everyone else was at work. Young Guns shook UK when in came on.
I am now beyond “middle age” ☹️😰 but I will always be a “Whammy Girl” forever and a day…I will always love you George - my ❤️ - 💔that Christmas Day, but your music and songs will live on - RIP Darling George, you are soooo missed… 😰😰😪
Oh I loved Wham! Was almost in the “wake me up before you go go” video. Long story. 😂 The guys were so talented! Their fabulous bass player was Deon Estus btw. 😎
"Andrew, I'm sorry ... but I have to give George the win for that last one. I really enjoy his shirt" (or lack thereof, maybe?!?! 🙂). ... Once again, you have made my night with your excellent song choices and fun comments!
Hello buddy 👋 I went to see Duran Duran at the common wealth games in Brum UK on the 28th July 2022!!! The video is on UA-cam live it plays for 11 mins plus!!!! They played in front of 30 thousand ppl sold out!!!! The buzz and the stadium was electric brilliant awesome amazing performance it's hit Duran mania in the UK please please play and review awesome omg omg I'm still buzzing lol 🤣 thankyou
This was a brilliant idea for a video. I loved watching your responses to their performances of TOTP. I never knew Andrew Ridgeley could dance, and George has got the moves. I live for this video. I have one of those shirts. I say go for it. thank you so much for sharing
What was more cheesiest about the Club Tropicana performance. Were the complimentary cocktail drinkers in the studio audience. Lol George never need have to prove he could sing live. ❤️
My favourite band growing up in the 80s in Scotland which led to George being my idol for life - I was about 11 when this video came out - 'you do the Math' lol! ;P. They were criticised for being throwaway fluff pop, and cheezy music but that's from people who didn't get the genius of George Michael and didn't get the word 'pop'. The bass is from Deon Estus who also passed this year and was a stalwart since the early Wham! days. xx sorry I added stuff because you asked about the bass. Take care x
Think I strained a finger muscle I clicked on it so fast 😆 in the early days George, Andrew and Shirley used to choreograph all their routines in George's bedroom. Probably why they don't actually move around the stage much and stay in the kind of space that would have been similar to a bedroom 🤣 I was in the audience for Top of The Pops in the 90s, can only remember one of the performers and that's because it was Janet Jackson, could not believe my luck.
The steps that they did in early performances were from dances they made up while clubbing. GM, AJR and Shirlue were all good friends and went clubbing.
The 2 girls and George would make up their own dances they were Pepsi and Shirley, Shirley married Martin Kemp from Spandau ballet and they are still together ,those shirts were designed by a famous designer and I cant remember her name well that's great information by the time you get back I will know sorry to send this I don't expect a response I will leave you to enjoy your break♥️😏
You need to react to his Parkinson Live version of A Different Corner, The main Bass Player in Wham was Deon Estus who died end of last year, he also worked with George after Wham, you need to react to his song Heaven Help Me (which was co-written by George who also did backing vocals on it), The other Guitarist on Young Guns was the best friend of George, David Austin, react to his song Turn to Gold (also co-written by George who also did back vocals again), one of the ladies in Club Tropicana was called D.C. Lee react to her single See The Day, the other lady is called Shirlie and the later other lady is called Pepsi react to their to biggest hits under the name Pepsi & Shirlie with Heartache & Goodbye Stranger
Oh lord, haven't heard 'Young Guns' in a minute 😆 and yet somehow sang (and spoke) it word for word. No wonder my memory is so bad these days, already full. If I could isolate and clear '80's song lyrics' it would be good as new. lol. Thanks for that awesome fun! ❤
Young guns was the first time they were on Top of the pops and he said in an interview that they had to home on the bus I thought that was hilarious but that's how they got noticed after that night and the rest is history 😊
That was the first time on top of the pops with young guns George Andrew and the girls made up their own dances some group dropped out so Wham got the spot what a break! Go go was their first number one and by the way it was Deon Estos who was the the Bassist he joined him when he went solo, I was so excited when I seen this thankyou loved it George was so young and people need to realise there would be no George Michael without Andrew so many people call him and say George didn't need him but he did it was Andrew's idea to start the band and Andrew came up with the name Wham he also co wrote a few songs one being Careless whisper any how loved it 😊♥️
The backing vocalist( dancer) with blond hair is married to Martin Kemp of Spandeau Ballet. She and the black girl with her had hits under Pepsi and Shirley. Are you still smiling?
Lots of famous people performed on Top of the Pops, also Americans. Please React to "Hot Cop" by The Village People. This is a short version of this song on this show unless you want to listen to the long audio version where you can hear the song completely.
Looking over the stage setup and stuff like that,im guessing most of it is Top Of The Pops performances, and they were mostly playback performances. But back then i remember them having tons of artists coming on after one another, and as a production it sounded better to just do playback, and easier to use for tv shows. I get it,it was different times.Often they would sing along on top of the record playing. As a kid i certainly didnt notice theese things or pay attention to lip movements sometimes being out of sync (if they didnt actually sing along on top of the record playing) As i grew up i noticed me cringing at certain playback performances, just because the artists were soo extra that it couldnt possibly be live as i thought as a kid. Then i joined radio, and i learned to see things from a sound production standpoint. Again i had more understanding towards tv shows using record playbacks as it sounded better, and didnt require all the live equipment to be plugged in. Easy to mount up and easier to take down again from the stage, especially for talk shows where the stage needs to be turned into something else after each performance,or new equipment needed to be replaced for the next artists. Also worth mentioning, most of the artists could at any point plug in and deliever theyr pure talents on that stage, making the songs sound exactly like on record. It was pure talent back then!
They both had those jackets just thought I'd tell you that why I don't know Andrew always wore those tartan suits, George said there's about 4 stages and the people would be shuffled from one to the other I don't blame you about George he was gorgeous ♥️😊
The only Wham! music videos you haven't done a reaction to yet, are: "Young Guns (Go for It!)", "The Edge of Heaven" and "Where Did Your Heart Go?" Any plans on doing those? Hehe!
When are you getting into The Smiths?? They have all sorts of iconic TOTPs performances too. George Michael and (Smiths lead singer) Morrissey were like Yin/Yang of British 80s pop. George Michael was ruggedly handsome and fully embraced the 80s sounds, while Morrisey was handsome in a flamboyant nerd kind of way and intentionally avoided drum machines and (for the most part) synths. There's a cool vid of the two of them reviewing pop singles for some tv show at the time together.
@@ThomasMoore3 As a person Moz turned out pretty crappy as he got older, but it's hard to deny the effect the Smiths had on music. They're still making movies and parodies about them as recently as last year. (I thought Benedict Cumberpatch playing Morrissey on the Simpsons last year was pretty funny.) And at least Johnny Marr, the musical brains behind The Smiths seems to be a pretty good guy who works with everyone from the Pet Shop Boys and New Order to Billie Eilish.
The T-shirts you like were by Katharine Hamnett, who also did the Band Aid (pre Live Aid) ones. They were big at the time. Weren't Wham fabulous? Brave performances too as it was fashionable to be miserabilist then.
The forever bassist player for WHAM! and George solo was Mr Jeffery Deon Estus aka Deon Estus... sadly passed away almost 3 years ago...!!! FAB bass player...!!! And TOTP was never LIVE... BBC policy
In the early 1980's the BBC thought TOTP needed an overhaul as the look was too bland. So they hired models to dance around & put the younger hip looking types around the stage & told them to act & dress up as much as possible.
If you are going to do George live performances, I'd definitely recommend him singing Brother Can You Spare A Dime from NetAid concert at Wembley 1999, it's such a powerful vocal from him. m.ua-cam.com/video/8Y9q6wBCd9o/v-deo.html
Bry, we disagree about Andrew. I don't like his hairstyle or his horse blankets. Andrew could neither sing nor write the songs, he always seems like a kind of dummy to me - not meant badly. But he said himself in an interview: he wasn't jealous of his best friend Yog, but he was jealous of George's talent.😊
When you do George Michael live performances, please watch the live performance of "Brother Can You Spare a Dime" in 2000. George was especially proud of this performance: ua-cam.com/video/x_cZjgThPks/v-deo.html

It still blows my mind that George was so shy much of the time. He really shined on stage and you’d never guess that about him! But it’s adorable.
So envious I wasn't at any of those performances. Such energy, such fun.
Awww....The 80s, such fun and versatility, music-wise and fashion-wise! The greatest decade! Imo🤗
The 80's were magical
Wake me up before you go go, wake me up before you go go. I'M IN LOVE AGAIN.

What can I say. Club Tropicana is absolute fun in the sun.
You need to react to his Parkinson Live version of
A Different Corner,
The main Bass Player in Wham was Deon Estus who died end of last year, he also worked with George after Wham, you need to react to his song
Heaven Help Me (which was co-written by George who also did backing vocals on it),
The other Guitarist on Young Guns was the best friend of George, David Austin, react to his song
Turn to Gold (also co-written by George who also did back vocals again),

Check out live in China. George singing careless whisper live and it is beautiful.
I HAD one of those shirts! That and a Frankie Say Relax! Probably couldn’t get away with either one of them these days without a problem! 🤣

They both had those jackets just thought I'd tell you that why I don't know Andrew always wore those tartan suits, George said there's about 4 stages and the people would be shuffled from one to the other I don't blame you about George he was gorgeous ♥️😊
George was really yammie back in the day haha and offcourse a great artist
Back then they didn`t want the artists to perfome live on TOTP because of the big production costs considering it wass every week.
now i wish I could see top of the pops
George Michael live sounds really good
Haha
How no one in the public during the 1980’s picked up George was gay is hilarious. 😂 As a straight girl who hung out with gay men I def knew 😉
I think that we were just so hypnotised by George's talent and beauty that we just didn't see it, and who cares anyway 😉😃 💜💜💜
@@betagombar9022 It would have been a nice boost for gay men to have a superstar like that come out. But we weren’t there yet. RIP Georgie.
Andrew had that suit also in red lol
This was fun watching your eyes bulge throughout all the vids.
Oh. I’ve missed you. Lol
I would live on the the beach if it George Michael was there like that every day
Please please some one take me back to the 80,s
This was so much fun!
Thank you so much for watching!!
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude , I love your reactions!
The forever bassist player for WHAM! and George solo was Mr Jeffery Deon Estus aka Deon Estus... sadly passed away almost 3 years ago...!!!
FAB bass player...!!!
And TOTP was never LIVE... BBC policy
Deon passed away 11th October 2021, last year
In the early 1980's the BBC thought TOTP needed an overhaul as the look was too bland. So they hired models to dance around & put the younger hip looking types around the stage & told them to act & dress up as much as possible.
i like your videos reactions, Sheena Easton, Debbie Gibson or Tiffany would be great
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤
Katharine Hamnett CHOOSE LIFE Tshirts very very very trendy in the 80´... Over prices now...!!!!
Lets be real… most of us are thirsting over young george michael.. no need to apologise for it😭
If you are going to do George live performances, I'd definitely recommend him singing Brother Can You Spare A Dime from NetAid concert at Wembley 1999, it's such a powerful vocal from him. m.ua-cam.com/video/8Y9q6wBCd9o/v-deo.html
They were flat BROKE throughout most of the Wham era.
The Video is a real traist trap
That was fun...
