"i hope I'm not remembered at all, and that one day i can just disappear" this has such a sweet tone for me, I've been taught by my parents, media, strangers, coincidences, etc. that i needed to be the next inventor of the wheel for this world I've been ridden with anxiety, depression and hate from my 15 years of life up until i turned 23, just to come up with something original that needed to change the world and to be remembered by everyone, kinda like Steve Jobs and his iphones, everyone knows who he is and what he did But now i understand that for some reason i don't have to do that, and i can just pass away peacefully knowing that whatever i can do to the best of my abilities, is and should be enough for me, and maybe my enough is changing the world for the better, who knows.
This is great to hear you've changed your worldview to one that works for you. I had a similar realisation: that most of my successful idols e.g. musicians got where they did not by saying "I'm going to be a successful musician" but instead by saying "I'm going to play music because I love it". I believe, in most cases though not all, that happiness leads to achievement - not the other way around. Sometimes though, people achieve because they have to escape hardship - i suppose that is not happiness per se but a motivator of a similar type... the determination and hope of escape, maybe...
For so many years I played music, hoping to 'get' somewhere. It was a stressful and disappointing experience. When I gave up and decided I would just play because I enjoy it, because it was like dancing or yoga of a sort, because it calmed me and soothed my heart and body, and allowed me to channel and express my innermost feelings, I started to see that people began to notice. I 'got' nowhere with either approach, but I most certainly got exactly what I needed with the second: peace, and joy. Give up, lose hope, and witness the beauty in every little moment, sound, and sensation. That is the true triumph!
@@jackboyd-official3203 awesome stuff Jonathon. I commend that! Joe Pera: "I probably won't get ten seasons. That's alright. I am contented because I got to discuss abandoned barns and dominoes with fellow insomniacs."
I love this. There is such a profound sense of vulnerability, that everything, every fiber of cynicism, bows to in recognition. It's simple, but it's confident. This show is amazing, and Joe Pera is fantastic to just listen to, and to let the concerns and fears and complexities of adult life take a break for a moment and to just let back in the child-like sense of wonder and awe and joy at the simplest things.
Tbh this show is just an adult version of Mr Roger's Neighborhood, complete with the relaxing narration and super nice main character. Got to be one of the most wholesome things Adult Swim has come out with and I need more of these videos
Excuse me, but an mazing thing just happened that I have to tell you about. I had stopped reading the comment at the comment before this and continued watching until the point where he shows his sheet music and I thought.. this is really a Mr Roger's for adults, then I went to go make the comment, but first read the next comment and it was this one. This is by far my greatest comment coincidence yet. So thanks...universe and thanks... you.
Sorry about your loss, but glad to hear the show helps! The show hypnotizes and relaxes thru it's clumsy, beautifully sincere, simplicity. My mother passed away at 94, on June 4. My birthday is June 2.. I discovered Joe in 2019. Would like to do a GoFundMe to help fund his production. That would be really cool
My mother died last week. Ive always watched Joe Pera, but now even more so, it feels like visiting a best friend. It's nice. And I hope the best for this man.
@@mollz3704 I think because most people stress about the idea of being forgotten, that their life would be considered meaningless if they didn't leave some legacy upon the world. However, Joe takes a different stance, and wishes to be forgotten. Which is an easier, more relaxing, and accepting way of thinking about your life. It ain't depressing at all, it's even somewhat liberating.
I am the most cynical person I know. Always looking for the ulterior motive, the hidden scam, or the other shoe to drop. This is the first thing I've watched in decades that is just exactly what it appears to be. Funny, sweet, innocent, and soothing. We need more of this.
I was watching this while I had insomnia. And I was just about to doze off, but I was suddenly awakened by a commercial for USAA insurance. I then realized that I didn't qualify for the incredible savings because I was never in the military. That made me kind of sad, like how Jim Kelly and the 1990-1993 Buffalo Bills must have felt after losing 4 super bowls in a row.
I wish I could have a crush. J already has a boyfriend, N is too interested in my friend to like me, L is way too good for me in looks and personality, H led me into believing we had something for a night before avoiding me for months after, and K just tore my feelings from me voraciously after faking feelings for several months. This year has just been a massive stab in the heart to me. I can’t trust like I used to. I just want it back.

Thank you. As I legitimately use the original Joe Pera talks you to sleep” to Help me get to sleep often, this is a welcome addition. Also nice to see Gus doing well.
I used the original to help myself sleep when I was living alone, it honestly helped me feel better about things. Helped me sleep and it helped me feel better about life.
Joe Pera is a simple man, but he’s no dummy. He realized long ago that everything that really mattered in life was how you viewed and and enjoyed the little things. This video captures that flavor of life and provides you with a shelter that is as wholesome as life. Come home to the safety of your wholesome happiness, come home to Joe Pera talking you to sleep.
I cried ( in the best possible way) so hard at this. I have no idea why I cried but I feel so much lighter and more relaxed now. Most confusingly wonderful emotional response I've had to anything in a long time. Thanks Joe Pera :)
the fact that the clock is lined up exactly with every minute of this video as if if Joe literally just woke up at 2am and started talking to us without stopping, makes me appreciate this 10x more
the second time I watched this it was 2 am on a tuesday, i'm dealing with insomnia and the school isn't very helpful, but that time it hit different. But now I can't sleep without hearing background noise (mostly people rambling about things in a soft voice)
I always hated the female narrator's Canadian 'out' and 'about' accent. It's like an 'ewt' or 'abewt' that grates the ears. If I was rich I'd hire Joe Pera to do it. Do the narration, I mean.
I don’t think he meant it to be sad, It’s really weird to say this but Ik what he meant, I feel like the world ends up letting you go when our time passes, I genuinely feel I don’t want to be remembered either but not because I’m sad or depressed, more like I don’t want them to be sad if they do, it’s a weird thing Ik
God this is just so great. I don’t know why but hearing about so many different things helps me remember the world doesn’t just revolve around me, my anxiety’s, my troubles.

@@stevenpochejr honestly, safe is interesting, way too many shows and medai nowadays try to push the boundaries and they become predictable, seeing blood and gore and grit and sex isn't even half as effective it used to be, especially when everyone does it, there's hardly anything mature about mature content. And it's a shame because I still really like the extreme gorefests, before everyone copied them. 13 reasons why is a good example of the annoying ubiquity of edges in modern media, it tries to be a serious drama starting with topics like suicide; but plays out like it was written by a three year-old, one that's never even had some semblance of a real life experience with suicide or depression, it's an obnoxious show with no accuracy, intriguing characters or actual dramatic tension. The fact that so many edgy teenagers are still trying to copy the suicide rituals from it is annoying and upsetting, especially because I've struggled with suicide attempts and depression for the brunt of my life, the show just glamorizes suicide and all these kids don't realize how unglamorous it is, like how you shit yourself when you die and how permanent it is, I only wanted to take my life because I was going through a lot of pain, I couldn't get bad memories out of my head and I didn't think it would end, while they're threatening suicide because they have some solipsistic fantasy about their pretty and extravagant funeral and they're gonna be the star of their own 13 reasons why and all the "nobody understands me" crap. They're just sheltered. I mean, my only advice is; if you have loved ones like friends, family member or a pet; stay around for them, don't take your life because then your pain becomes theirs, tenfold, if you love and care about someone and you want them to have a happy life; that isn't going to happen if you're not in it. Maybe it's not even a person, sometimes I've just put if off because I had to finish work on a personal project and I just focused on that, or there was something good on TV. So many shows nowadays are just jacking off on gore and forced grittiness, they all copy each other and become boring and not unique, but Joe Pera is great, he's like the Koyaanisqatsi of comedy, I wish there were more acts like him. I mean, if I'm a pussy for liking this; then I love being a pussy.

The comedy" or entertainment of Joe Pera: How comedy has come full circle from slapstick, physical comedy , profanity, shock value, race baiting, life trashing commentary. This shows that what people want now is normalcy, kindness, humanity , this is way more entertaining watching Joe explain the arrangement of bell peppers or being kind to someone. who would have thunk?
I didnt dislike it and I dont not like Joe. Hea very likable amd unique. I just dont kmow how I can get on board with the slow dry comedy . I get his schtick and and I cant knock it. I'm hoping it his style will grow on me. The world needs more non political and clean comedians.

@@palestar828 I like asmr but hate eating sounds. I will never understand that aspect of mukbang. However, asmr doesnt have to be people speaking. I love this. There is such a profound sense of vulnerability, that everything, every fiber of cynicism, bows to in recognition. It's simple, but it's confident. The "safest" way of entertainment? How pussy
@@stevenpochejr yeah but it's still entertaining nonetheless
@@stevenpochejr Youre just all edge, arentcha?
