    At 18:42 can see seal on new bearing is damaged. While staking the snap ring is recommended you need to be careful. That's why I always attack the groove with a dremel to make sure it's free of any rust/debris. A coat of grease after won't hurt either. And the Camry uses a tone ring on the axle for ABS, bearing is not magnetized for this vehicle.

    Thanks for the video. If you are not going to replace the ball joint it can be left attached to the knuckle assembly. Just remove the 2 nuts and one bolt from the lower arm. Plenty of clearance room for the press to work with it attached.

    • @SheenTeam10
      @SheenTeam10 2 роки тому +2

      That's exactly what I thought. You didn't need to remove the lower ball joint out of the knuckle.

    • @Kevin-bl6hx

      @@SheenTeam10 She did need to remove it from the knuckle because she stated she was replacing the Ball Joint. Doing this job and skipping replacing the ball joint that is fairly inexpensive ($30 to $60) is not a good idea for the do it yourselfer. Pissing in the wind to have to go back and do it later sucks.

      Good catch. Thats the grease seal that is damaged a little. The bearings inside don't ride on it but none the less it is damaged.If it were my vehicle I wouldn't feel comfy with it.

    • @stoptellingmewhattowrite

      I wouldn't take the chance with it... could be no issue but could mess up the cage or seals and fail prematurely. Unfortunately you might not know and they say F-it and put it on anyway.

    • @igotaction
      @igotaction 4 роки тому

      Many mechanics would say F it and put it on. A wire brush to clean the groove makes the clip go all the way, plus the 300lbs of torque on the CV nut.

    Love the video. The inner race in the knuckle does not come out easily like she shows. I had to put it under pressure on the press, then heat the knuckle with a MAPP torch and tap with a hammer to set up a vibration. It did pop and let go eventually, then it pressed out as shown.

    The way she smack the driveshaft out the hub will damage the tread !! And you don't need to use ball joint separation fork to take out the lower ball joint , you can save the ball joint just remove the 3 17mm nut !! A simply bearing job , now you need a driveshaft , lower ball joint and a hut !! WOW I guess this is an auto part store video .

    300$ for a pair of assemblies from A1 and eliminate the pressing on the car. Keep the old hubs and replace the bearings and they will be ready for the next swap out 😎🤘👍

    Great job, very well done. Your video says you used a 30mm Toyota spindle nut socket which is correct but in your list of tools used you have a 32MM spindle socket listed. I'm sure some have ordered the 32mm spindle socket only to be foiled mid job.😉
    Also prior to removing the axle nut, the same way you bent the little notch in the nut when you completed installing the new axle nut, you should have un bent the notch on the old spindle nut. It would have come off easier with the air gun and avoids messing up the threads on the axle shaft .

      Play in steering, wearing tires, and often the bearing will start to grumble when it's real bad.
