I simply LOVE Mystery Dungeon games since I was a child, was my favorite genre for years, I understand that is not for everyone, but I really recommend Azure Dreams for PSX!
I've spent dozens of hours playing Chocobo Dungeon 2 on PS1, and I think it's aged very well: On PS1, the 2nd opted for an elegant round polygon rendering with saturated colors, as opposed to the very clean pixel rendering of the 1st opus, which also had more sprite animations in response to our actions. The ATB bar has been removed to streamline combat. The menu interface is less cryptic, yet comfortably concise. Mechanics are explained more explicitly in the 1st opus. One of the aspects of Chocobo Dungeon 2 that I appreciate the most is its inventory system, which articulates our progress and the pace of combat. Every single resource is consumable, and the way you use it can be an asset or a thorn in your side, in the short or long term. This gives us a sense of responsibility and tension during long excursions. The 2nd opus also has the excellent idea of making saving (inside dungeons) a resource, as in the old Resident Evil games. The second valuable aspect is the development of the village and the plot: you meet new NPCs on certain floors who will populate the village and develop businesses. This creates a sense of commitment and provides more comforts for getting deeper into the adventure.
Ohhh huh, there's a reference to the Shiren the Wanderer MC's sprite in the new AI: The Somnium Files game, but I had no idea that series existed until now, and I just assumed it was a parody of Link, lol
The appeal to me for Pokémon blue rescue team was I watched old VHS tape from my cousin to watch Pikachu Winter Vacation and was cool imagine if you could play as just the Pokémon but still I got confused since I never played a rogue like before
I personally felt the DS version kind of sanded off a lot of the interesting roughness of the famicom game, this is kind of true of the 5th game as well but that game at least adds a lot of interesting mechanics
You had a great opportunity to share your love of some unknown games and get more people exposed to them, and instead you used it to try to sound superior because you know of some obscure video games
That's fair! That said, if you have to play any of them and the regular games aren't catching your interest, perhaps give one of the Mystery Dungeon games a shot!

I bet most people don't know that Mystery Dungeon is a separate franchise.
Duh? What else is it?
I was so happy to discover that there is a whole bunch of these.
What are you even talking about?
Traditional roguelikes with accessibility options turned on

Bro Link never wore the Wanderer hat what are you smoking 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Red rescue team was a staple of my childhood. So I guess I'm finna cop all of these if I can.
Explorers of Time is too good for a spin off Pokémon game. I replayed it last year and the story still is really good to me. The music too.
