Bypass the Passlock 2 on a 1999 to 2006 GM Vehicle

Use this method to bypass a failing passlock 2 chip in an older - late 90s to 2006 ish GM vehicle, among others. This may take three tries at 10 minutes intervals to work

So the wires attached onto the resistor is yellow from computer but what about the black do you attach the black coming from computer or the other end coming from ignition? I actually re watched and figured it out 👍🏼

I cut the black and yellow wire and soddered a 2.2k .5 wat resistor to the black and yellow wire that aren't attached to the ignition switch. Did I do the procedure wrong because the car wont crank over after doing the relearn procedure.

I have a 2000 chevy malibu and the problem isn't that it won't start, the problem is that when you start it, the anti theft alarm goes crazy and the horn goes off until you hit the switch

i think the yellow wire u need is solid yellow and the other wire u leave alone is yellow with a black stripe

This trick should work on your grand am. especially the 03, 04, 05 and 06 models that share the same body style.

@@OpenResearchTech I originally ordered and did not notice the watt rating and ordered a 5w which did not work, just reordered the 1/2w hopefully that is the correct but it looks likely since i found some on amazon that were labeled gm passlock resistor

Once you do the passlock 2 bypass , hook up the push to start to the starter wire. Should work! Still need the regular ignition and accessory wires hooked up, like a remote starter.

@@goonxstize1360 you will initially need to perform the re-learn procedure after the "fix" is complete, then you can swap the push to start.

There's different possibilities but my best results have been with 2.2k. You'll need to do it 3 times for the computer to learn that resistance

you can measure the resistance over the wires with an ohm meter, then purchase your resistor accordingly.

This peticular vehicle (if u are gonna take radio out to do this repair might as well just replace ignition lock cyl since it right there instead of cutting wires...easier and faster=)
