Lovely update Hannah, the polytunnel is looking lovely and full and so many lovely companion flowers too, and your gorgeous path. You did a lot in your short time up at your allotment. It has been raining pretty much all day here in Surrey and I have a to do list of sowing and some planting to do. And while I don't mind gardening in the rain it does churn up the soil a bit and it has been relentless! I am hoping my clay soil is sucking it all up and I know my water butts are filling too. Hopefully there will be a break in the weather tomorrow morning I can get things sorted. My greenhouse is full so it is outdoor sowing for me. Have a good rest of the weekend.
That is awesome. Your sunflowers are well ahead of mine. I grow massive patches for my bees and they are about 2 weeks away from flowering. The wind we had the other week done a lot of damage to the ones in the open field aout 300 broken but the ones near the woodland edge are in good shape no damage what so ever. Just a tip on seed packets, Them huge plastic fishing tackle boxes are fantastic for saving all your seed packets in. Especially if you harvest your own seeds as well.
FYI Thai basil , African blue basil and perpetual basil are perennials I don’t know how long my Thai basil would’ve gone. I had it for at least five years but my chickens decided that it should be there a little spot to snuggle in and they killed it but I have some African basil that’s been going for three years now and it’s just perpetual. I’m using that one as a pollinator, but it’s still good basil as well even with flour on, your beautiful sunflower wall is so cute. I enjoy all that you’re doing. You have a lovely garden and way to harvest.
Sunflowers ❤❤❤ Ha! I have the same seed packet holder from Amazon, I love the colors. 🥰 Thank you for the list of seeds to sow! I love the Pack Choi but slugs seem to love them even more than me. 😂
Can you find a spot to sow them with a bit of shade? Are you using fresh seed? Maybe try growing in pots and move them around to see if you can find a good spot for them?
I was without a poly tunnel or greenhouse for the first year or so I had my allotment, it really does open up so many more things to grow. The plastic ones seen me through for a while and I still use them in the garden at home 😄
I’d be interested to see how you use all the food from your plot, I’ve just got my first allotment but it’s knowing what to cook with it all confuses me 😂
I can’t believe how much rain we have had in July but at least the water butts are filling up and the veg loves it but so do the weeds 😂 hope for some sun soon. I did not know how much you could sow now thank you, time to get the seed box out 😊
I've had pak choi growing for a month or so in a fairly shady bed and theyve done really well after initially being mauled by slugs, but i found by making a barricade around the bed with dead bramble and gooseberry branches!
Thai Basil on the list! Hannah you have the best smile on UA-cam 😊 Love the polytunnel, having a protected growing space totally ups your growing game ❤
Hi hannah I have only just started watching you and you have a really huge poly so is this your job? Also how did you get to be chosen to have a garden at Hampton Court?
I do work growing plants, however this allotment is just my hobby. The poly tunnel is 20ft x 14ft and is just for our own veg. I applied to exhibit a garden at the RHS and got accepted. Anyone can apply 😊
Am glad you moved over to UA-cam as well. Brilliant update thanks ♥
Ah thank you 😊
Quality content as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Hannah, your sunflowers are gorgeous. Grwat video on what tobsiwcin July with plenty of useful information. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Thanks for watching 😊
😅Thanks. ❤❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a collection of unused labels. I reckon the guessing game at harvest adds to the fun.
Oh definitely 😂

🤭 The slugs do love pak choi!
I keep sowing radish, but I just can't seem to grow them - I just get long red stems that go straight to seed 😄
Can you find a spot to sow them with a bit of shade? Are you using fresh seed? Maybe try growing in pots and move them around to see if you can find a good spot for them?
That sometimes happens to me too 😅 Try sowing in modules and planting out once they’ve germinated
The poly tunnel is an amazing size, my plot doesn’t have a greenhouse so I’m going to have to source something

There’s some great ways to preserve, like pickling, freezing, making jams etc

Great tip, thank you!
You have the same seed box as myself. It’s brilliant. Sunflowers look great and good tips for seed sowing
So good for seed storage, I need another one 😅

where did you get the big polly from if i may ask looks very well made
This is from Northern Polytunnels. I’d 100% recommend them
Your doing a lovely job doing UA-cam videos 😊
What variety of potatoes are you doing for Christmas?
They’re Charlotte variety 😊
How do you store your potatoes?
I store them in paper or hessian bags in the cupboard under the stairs 😅
I do hope you checked the carrot root flies weren’t watching back then 😂
😅🤣
