Fabulous plot tour, everything looking so productive. My mother in law lived in Shotton Colliery and successfully grew tomatoes outdoors from seeds saved from a shop bought tomato! The mint plants don’t do well next to one another, they cross pollinate and taste muddy, best to move them into different corners of the plot and cut them back so you have freshgrowth coming up. I found this out to my cost last year but they are doing fine this year.
Lovely tour Hannah, everything looking so lovely. I love those little daisy flowers, see some other folks have commented on their name, so have made a note to look out for some of those, they really are so pretty. I hope you enjoyed your fennel. I like fennel and have only tried growing it a couple of times and it didn't do well, mainly got dug up by a local cat who clearly liked the smell which was annoying and my other attempt bolted as we have a really warm autumn that year. My hubby hates fennel, so I don't bother any more but they are magnificent plants and the foliage smells delicious.
I would definitely save some of the seeds from that self seedling out door tomato. Especially as its ripening outdoors and its only August. Or at least take a cutting towards the fall and keep it in doors for next year. Obviously has good genetics for outdoors.
Mesembryanthemum remind me so much of my dad, he always grew them along with Asters and sweet William 🙂On our plots we always get 'ratted' on the sweetcorn, I always say I'm not going to grow it again! 🤞For your mushrooms, I've got a mushroom box on my Christmas list lol x
Lovely flowers and produce today in your harvest, our corn has the grain bit on one of them so we are hopeful but each year is different with what grows you’d and what not as good but we live in hope
@Gingergrows1 I am happy to see the younger generation enjoy growing. How much nicer than just watching the TV or being on a PC. Far healthier food 😋 plus being on the garden with fingers in the soil actually gets all negative charges out of your body. Too much does affect your sleeping habits, stress and other. Plus your a delight to watch. Such a pleasure to see people smile and look happy 😊
😂 I had to laugh at the size of the mushrooms in your front page photo... Nothing like aiming big Hannah. ❤ the crushed heart tomato. Report back -do they taste as glorious as they look? (There's definitely nothing more satisfying than looking at your dinner plate and knowing you grew everything on it)
@Gingergrows1 No problem 😊, I did trials on lots of plants and mushrooms. This year I have electroculture in 1 tunnel and 16 beds. All plants were paired off, 1 with, 1 without. 100% better plants. Eg, tomatoes without are 8ft, with are 14ft tall. Lettuce half as big without, far less pest damage, no fungus problems. Its lots of fun and doesn't cost much to set up. Victorian era did this lots. Its having a revival ✔️

Hi Hannah, I think they're Mesumbrianthamum (not sure if I have spelt that right)
You are correct.
Thanks 😊
What type of red kale was it? It looks delicious 😋

Crushed heart tomatoes are delicious! I’d recommend 😊
Yes, Mesembryanthemum, common Name Livingstone Daisy
Thanks 😊
Mesembreanthamums flowers
Thanks 😊
Just a tip. Only use rain 🌧 water on the oyster mushrooms. The chemicals in tap water absorbs into straw. Hence its used to absorb algea in ponds. 😊
😊 thanks for the tip
