I don't usually comment on UA-cam videos but I'm really grateful to this man and his UA-cam channel. I recently received my IELTS results and based on his strategies I got 8 in the reading test and 8.5 in the listening with just one month of preparation (just watching his videos, free courses on his page and all the material in it). I also did the practice tests from the Cambridge books which are very precise regarding the difficulty of the real test, what this man does is just awesome. I hope you all achieve your desired score.

I am a candidate from Sri Lanka who faced IELTS academics last time. I had nearly 3 weeks only for proper preparation (yet excluding weekends) and achieved an overall 8 (Reading 8.5, Listening 8, Speaking 7, and writing 7.5). Here are my tips and hope this might be useful to someone. I had no time to find a personal tutor but I did all tests in the last four Cambridge books. IELTS Writing Task 2 Samples by Rachel Mitchell was another useful book I referred to apart from Cambridge. The biggest guide was youtube channels and I watched a few selected channels (about 5) for each component. in my first week my listening marks were started around 26, but my daily practice brought it up to an average of 30 in the next week and around 36 by the last week prior exam. In my opinion, it is not just the language only, you need good practice to achieve higher band. Practice daily, you will reach your goal. Chris, Thank you very much for sharing generously your tips, this channel was really helpful.

I was struggling with the matching headings and information parts for like some time and the method I was following was reading the option first and going back to the passage to find out the answer. Although, I heard it worked for many, I found it a bit overwhelming for me. So what I followed since then was reading one section at a time and coming back to the options and seeing which one is the answer. This strategy dramatically improved my reading scores too. Yall can give it a try if you're struggling with the same thing and see if it works. I'm just hoping it gets me a decent score on my test next week :')

@@9aikey I think you gotta figure out what's working for you at first. Like as I said, if you struggle with time management then you may go after the tactic of first reading the options. And then looking for the similar words in the paragraphs and searching for the answers. And if you feel like you are fast reader and you usually finish the reading section within 40-45 mins, then you can go for the technique of reading the paragraphs first, then looking at the options to see which one matches the info of what you just read. Follow this for one paragraph each time. If you feel like there's no option that's matching with the paragraph you've read, then just move on, quickly read the next paragraph and keep doing this until you finish all the questions. I've followed the latter since I
always finished the reading sections within 40 mins and this technique really worked for me. I hope you understood what I wanted you to understand. btw, I got my result today and got 8.5 in reading, where the score was 4.5 initially when I started practicing a month ago. So, you can do it if you can find the right groove that works for you. All the best. And sorry if I confused you anywhere, I tried my best to explain it :')

U need to read articles and Novels that will improve ur Vocabulary nd after that understanding skills will improve gradually....I had used the same trick to gain more bands !!

Hello. Thanks for the video. I just want to know two things:
1) Can students write like "NG"which is a short form, in the answer script of main exam?
2) And, does it cause any problem if a student write just "TRUE, FALSE, and NOT GIVEN" in capital letter, while at the same writing normally(not all caps) in case of other answers on the same reading answer sheet?

1. It depends on the instructions so you have to follow them carefully. If it asks you to write NG or not given, then you should follow it.
2. If you want to use all capital letters in listening and reading that is fine, but you should not use all capital letters in the writing test.
